Nate The Great

Is Nate a better fighter since he lost to Anderson? Without a doubt.. He’s aggressive style and finishing ability has come a long way.

A better question is will the new and improved Nate beat Anderson in a rematch? No, I still think the outcome is the same, maybe a round later.

Can anybody at MW beat Silva? Realistically no but Nate right now in my mind has the best shot

I just wish Henderson was still here and fighting Nate as those two are the only MW I see having a decent chance. Nate needs to focus on Sonnen right now it would be a huge mistake on his part to look past Sonnen.

I agree, Henderson had the best chance of defeating Silva… irrespective of what happens with Sonnen I would really like to see Nate fight Belcher. This IMHO would be a great fight.

Realistically yes..

I’m not saying any would be the favourite against Silva, and rightfully they shouldn’t. I’m not much a fan of Vitor but it’s easy to tell he possesses some legit threats to Silva. He has the hand speed and power to really hurt Silva and actually put up a competitive fight either on the ground or feet.

Nate? I like him, he’s become a very good fighter. He just doesn’t have the tools to deal with an Anderson SIlva. Realistically it should Jacare type fighter to beat Silva, but sadly they can’t seem to not get knocked out by Nate. lol

by RayRayJr on Feb 1, 2010 10:40 AM EST up reply actions

Jacare vs Silva would be epic. I’m amazed no one is talking about him he looked amazing against Lindland, is arguably a better jits player than Maia, and has striking light years ahead of Maia. Yet maia is ranked way ahead of him…it just shows you the type of UFC bias that exists in the so-called rankings.

Hendo Vs Nate

Wouldve been insane. But yeah Marquardt is one of my favorite fighters, and is definitely the second best Middleweight. Probably wont beat Silva though, 90% chance.

hijack

but anyone else read this morning nick diaz only wants to fight gsp? whats the chances of ufc signing him back?

I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was.

Fellow Newfoundlander!

I would say at the current point in time it’s not very good, tho i’m not sure on his contract.

But does it really matter? UFC’s WW division is wrestler heavy, and I can list 4-5 guys below GSP who I think easily handle diaz and give him another lose(even guys without that wrestling base like Alves would own him). His ego is pretty big for a guy who struggled with Mike Aina, got tko’d by Noons. Guess when you beat Shamrock it makes you legit.

Not interested in Diaz being in the UFC and I don’t much like his punk attitude but I understand his appeal, he’s a love him or hate him kinda guy.

by RayRayJr on Feb 1, 2010 10:35 AM EST up reply actions

You see his last fight?

Nick Diaz is a world class fighter and should be fighting in the UFC. He would beat every guy except koschek, GSP, and maybe Daley, and he’d have a shot against all those guys, including Georges. You could argue GSP would just take him down, but Georges hasnt ever fought a guy with Nicks Ju-Jitz.

by theworldismine on Feb 1, 2010 11:00 AM EST up reply actions

I did..

And he looked impressive. You have to ask yourself would Zaromskis look good in the UFC like he has in Dream? Don’t think so. I stand by my statement, Diaz will have more then he can handle in the UFC’s WW division without having to worry about GSP. I’m sure Nate will let him know.

by RayRayJr on Feb 1, 2010 11:09 AM EST up reply actions

Daley and Koschek?

He would hold his own standing against Daley, maybe even outbox him with his reach, and then sumbit him 30 sec after it hits the ground. Muuuuuuuuch faster that Shields did!

And Koschek have not met a guy with Nicks BJJ, and would get picked apart standing.

But GSP has… (A guy named BJ Penn?) and would probably grind and ground & pund his way to a TKO!

People seem to dismiss the guy cause he had troubles in the UFC when he was 20 something. He has worked on his holes and he seems to get better with every fight. I dont understand some of the bitching and doubting here on Mania.

If a fighter isnt in the UFC, then he’s a bitch cause he wont fight the best. If he WANTS to come to the UFC and fight the best, then he’s a bitch cause he’s talking/yapping about UFC fighters? Doesnt make sense.

by Zlatan, My Hero on Feb 1, 2010 11:20 AM EST up reply actions

Not fighting in the UFC doesn't make you a bitch...

I can make a very long list of quality fighters outside the UFC that are very good. And most of them wouldn’t have a chance against the current UFC roster, Diaz falling into that category.

Fighters like; Henderson, Mousasi,King Mo, Fedor, Jacare, Alvarez, Aoki..etc could all have long stays in the UFC.

by RayRayJr on Feb 1, 2010 11:33 AM EST up reply actions

Oh..and Shields

Shields would have a very unfortunate time in the UFC. He has good wrestling and jits, but a lot of UFC’s WW’s are just as good if not better at wrestling. And Shields striking is horribly bad. I mean, the dude got outstruck on bully beatdown. He would be nighty night pretty often in the UFC.

by RayRayJr on Feb 1, 2010 11:35 AM EST up reply actions

Kos was and is TERRIFIED to take Diego down cuz of his Jits

And some people think Kos would be willing to lay in Diaz’s guard? Ummm No.

Kos would throw 8 haymakers, miss them all. And Nick would throw about 136 punches, landing 98 of them and curley que’s would be laid out.

I been saying Nick is Top 10 lb for lb for a WHILE now and got flamed for it and still do. But seriously. Standup that good and Jits that good? Sure wrestling can use some work but c’mon

ALSO when Nick was in the UFC

he was always trying to end the fight. So he would not mind being on his back where he felt like he was in little to no danger, yet he can submit his opponent. After losing a few decisions due ONLY to top control (some of those fights would have gone Nicks way in Japan – not cuz thier crooked, but cuz they base it on damage and trying to win the fight.

Now Nick is no longer content to lay in his guard trying to submit people. Now, he just tries to knock them the fuck out – and its been working!

PS. FUCK KJ Noons and Jay Hieron.

I loved how when deadman Quadros mentioned how Hieron called him out Nick is like “whatever man, I just want to thank…”

Ty. Exactly!

He upped his game A LOT and changed the way he fights. A little too early to be talking about GSP with he’s record in the UFC, but bring him back and he will tear up the division and make a run for the title! Respect the talent and abilities. Great boxing and Great BJJ!

by Zlatan, My Hero on Feb 1, 2010 2:10 PM EST up reply actions

We already have one Hardy in the division......

Why do all the clowns come out of the woodwork and think they deserve to fight GSP??? IMO Diaz is perhaps # 9 in WW. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind Diaz but he is still a long way from any title fight even if the UFC would take him back (but they won’t).

Doesn’t matter anyways as the next GSP fight will be his last at WW.

by hairybumcrack on Feb 1, 2010 6:37 PM EST up reply actions

Hardy? I dont even understand the comparison

Like both guys actually, that videoblog of GSP was awesome, (Im a huge GSP-fan) but there are no similarities in fightstyle or personality?

But honestly, if a guy like Diaz (lets say he’s nr 9 like you suggested) is on a high (pun intended) after a fight and says he’s in great shape so he’s redo to fight the best in world. Who should he aim for? Whats newsworhty about a guy ranked nr 9 calling out say… Daley, Kampmann, Condit, Swick etc.

And he never said he “deserved”, the Diaz brothers doesnt use that kind of language, he just said he could beat him lol

i think bj penn has decent bjj?

I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was.

by Newfie3 on Feb 1, 2010 11:48 AM EST up reply actions

chances are slim

The guy looks good, but does he get auto shot at GSP if he comes in? Highly unlikely. If he fought Fitch I think he’d lose. Thiago potentially could beat him as well. And though I’m certain Diaz would lose to GSP it is more interesting then most current GSP match ups.

On second thought I bet Dana does scoop him back up after contract is done.

I know we're supposed to be talking about Nate, but...

Why are so many of the interviewer’s in MMA horrible? This guy took over 30 seconds to ask Nate if he has improved since he last fought for the title. Then, when Nate answered him, the interviewer repeated Nate’s answer and proceeded to kiss his a$$.
I know getting these guys to talk isn’t easy, but some of these guys need to step up their game. The fighters are.

'It is what it is.' = worst saying ever

Agree!

And The Matrix stuff he’s talking about was the finish against Willy G, not Kampann! Check you facts man.
Dont the reporters take it seriously when it comes to MMA or do they send their no good talentless reporters to do MMA-interviews?

English is my third language and i would probably do a better job than this moron!
