The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) today issued its list of medical suspensions for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 12 Finale which took place on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, from "The Pearl" at the Palms Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
With several of the bouts ending early (and violently), there were quite a few fighters who were flagged follow up visits with their doctors.
Chief among them is Jonathan Brookins, who won the title of "Ultimate Fighter" along with a suspension until next June -- unless he gets medically cleared by an orthopedic doctor for a bum left foot.
But that's not all.
Here is the complete list of TUF 12 Finale injuries and their medical instructions:
Jonathan Brookins: Suspended until 06/03/11 (left foot) pending X-Rays and clearance from an orthopedic doctor.
Stephan Bonnar: Suspended until 12/26/10 (no contact until 12/19/10) for scalp laceration.
Johny Hendricks: Suspended until 04/11/11 pending annual eye exam with retinal specialist.
Nam Phan: Suspended until 12/26/10 (no contact until 12/19/10) for scalp laceration.
Leonard Garcia: Suspended until 12/26/10 (no contact until 12/19/10) for right temple scalp laceration.
Ian Loveland: Suspended until 06/03/11 (left second finger) pending X-Rays and clearance from an orthopedic doctor.
Fredson Paixao: Suspended until 02/03/11 (no contact until 01/19/11).
Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.
