A featherweight battle between former WEC competitor Mackens Semerzier and The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Season 12 standout Alex Caceres will take place at UFC Fight Night 24 on March 26 in Seattle, Washington.
Sources confirmed the bout to MMAweekly.com earlier today.
After going 4-0 with smaller mixed martial arts (MMA) promotions, Semerzier pulled off an upset submission win over Wagnney Fabiano in his World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) debut. Unfortunately for "Mack da Menace," it was the last win on his record.
Semerzier lost to Lithuanian featherweight Deividas Taurosevicius at WEC 46 by unanimous decision and attempted to gain his momentum back with a big win over Javier Vazquez at WEC 50 but it was not meant to be, falling to Vasquez via submission (rear naked choke).
His third straight defeat came in a close split-decision loss to Cub Swanson at WEC 52 back in November.
Caceres advanced to the quarterfinals of TUF 12 when he locked in a triangle choke, forcing Jeff Lentz to tap. "Bruce Leeroy" came up short in the semifinals fight when he was defeated by Michael Johnson via unanimous decision.
Now Caceres will look to make a statement in his featherweight and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut.
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz will headline UFC Fight Night 24 when he meets Pride FC veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Heavyweights Sean McCorkle and Christian Morecraft will meet in Seattle as well.
A welterweight war between Dan Hardy and Anthony Johnson is also possible for the March 26 event.
