Sengoku: "Soul of Fight" went down earlier today (Dec. 30) from the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan, featuring a massive card stacked with International competition in the promotion's year end extravaganza.
Hard-hitting featherweight Marlon Sandro was favored to bring home the Sengoku 145-pound title; however, opponent Hatsu Hioki didn't stick the script, weathering the usual Sandro onslaught in the earlier rounds only to drag him into deep waters later in the fight.
As a result, the tired Brazilian came up short on the judges scorecards and Hioki is the new division champion.
Popular female fighters Roxanne Modafferi and Hitomi Akano were expected to throw hands on the main card but the "warrior" wasn't too "happy" when she was hospitalized with food poisoning the night before the fight. Doctor's failed her in the pre-fight physical and "Girlfight Monster" won by forfeit.
Kazuo Misaki, Mamed Khalidov, "Pee-Wee" Herman and Megumi Fujii were also victorious.
