Sorry

I know there is a lot of old dudes with money that will jizz in their pants when the ICEMAN calls – leaves a voicemail and says he’s the VP of biz dev

but…. really?

Okay – I love it. But hate me cause im jealous as a mother fucker. Sweet gig and I knew DW was going to make this move one day, anyway.

hell of a gig

I wonder what position awaits Hughes.

Ill keep track myself.

For TUF i would have went 4/8

I stand at 87 in my lone man wolf pack pool

Hughes sings autographs.

As long as he has his John Deer – he’ll be driving in up and down the rooooooad!

I think Matt lacks the yes sir no sir to be worth a damn to DW/Zuffa. He has a means to farm – make money and do the public appearences.

But Chuck is stuck. As a VP…. he’s name only. But people will LOVE talking to him and holding meetings for photo opps.

Shits funny – but very real world all the same.

Sings autographs?

Like you hold up a mic and he sings his name into it? Haha you may have just invented the next big thing!

Jon Snowden says if there were an mma HOF, chuck would likely be 1st ballot

I’m not even a chuck fan at all, but he’d 100% be in, snowden never ceases to amaze me with his stupidity!

BZ, here is a paragraph from the greatest mma writer ever (if you tlked to him, I had to read it 3 timers. is it me or does talking about fighting recently, then jumping back to 2003 confusing?

What’s troubling about Liddell’s fall from the top of the sport is the nonchalance that surrounded it. Liddell continued to employ the same strategies and increasingly savvy opponents knew exactly what he was going to do. As all star training camps became en vogue, Liddell stayed in his comfort zone, training with Hackleman in California at the famous Pit. Before traveling to Pride to fight in the 2003 Grand Prix, White sent Liddell to train in Las Vegas, importing some of the top fighters in the game to help get Liddell ready, a team of training partners that included Phil Baroni, Matt Hughes and Jay Hieron. Liddell hated the training camp, and after losing to Jackson, never went back to preparing with top level fighters.

i dont read snowden because he's like the Dr. Phil of MMA

Master of stating the fucking obvious.

So – i’ve read Liddells book and followed his career from the Jeremy Horn submission. He has always been about about "this is what works for me – Kempo baby – Hack baby – St Louis Obispo baby … everything else is just noise.

Chuck had a hella of a two trick pony. TDD and knocking fools out backing up. At the end of the day – you get eclipsed if you dont evolve. And this is what we are seeing.
I for one am just glad I dont have to see Chuck donkey punched one more time, cause the truth is…. everytime… might be the last time, he scrapes his face off the canvas.

I know it, Dana knows it, you know it. Great Man, Great MMA pioneer – but it’s time to sit back and interview secretarys from here on out.

There is a counter for every counter

For what it’s worth I think way too many people/coaches/fighters over-strategize and over-plan and beat themselves mentally before they even get in the ring. I think Chuck has a very good point. He stuck with his bread and butter. On the other hand you always need to be re-evaluating how you do things because of the changing styles.

I just don’t know if evolution is the right word. We are definitely seeing gradual improvements in technique but how much of that is just current popular fighting style?

Not a smart business move........

I hope Chuck doesn’t have to close any deals in person. This is like hiring your best friend who is a high school dropout to help you run your business! Maybe use chuck to help promote, but an executive job- no way!

Chuck Liddell, College Grad, Go get some info before u write… makes u look like a douche.

by THORAZINE on Dec 30, 2010 3:49 AM EST up reply actions

Oh College Grad........

Then he must be a genius. Our school system is fantastic! I dated a College Grad girl who didn’t know who the Vice President was! I know prople with Masters Degrees who are morons. I was just using the high school dropout analogy, but I should of just stated that Chuck Liddels IQ is no way higher then 110. Executives typically have a 120 or better……well a normal company.

by Mattito on Dec 30, 2010 4:50 AM EST via mobile up reply actions

I would say even the PEOPLE with the lowest common denominator of intelligence know how to spell PEOPLE.

Mattito——“I know prople with Masters Degrees who are morons.”

I know people on websites who are morons too.

Hey Baby Einstein

I’m not sure why you think you know what Chuck’s IQ is or where you are getting your statistics but you should probably concentrate on your own education:

should of != should have

Good for him.

But I believe he shrugged his shoulders around 20 time, Roughly(I did a fast count)

So glad we don't have to see James Toney's fatass anymore.

by guyverbob on Dec 29, 2010 8:27 PM EST reply actions

Yeah I noticed that too. Seems to me like he as really no clue what hes going to be doing.

I really doubt hes on the same level with the other executives…last time I heard, Chuck “the business man” has lost a crap load of money trying to invest and develop properties..

by Albow on Dec 29, 2010 8:33 PM EST reply actions

im sure its just a title

they’re gonna give him the special easy projects. mostly just entertain the guests.

Fighting solves everything.

by Two_Words on Dec 29, 2010 8:48 PM EST up reply actions

yeah you're probably right

he could also be the one who seals the deals “sign it, or else.” lol

by Albow on Dec 30, 2010 12:05 AM EST up reply actions

Don't get me wrong, I like Chuck but he could single handedly kill UFC.

And that’s coming from me, I’ve watched all his fights and I regularly see him the club while I’m dancing with 10 chicks.

But let’s be honest, he doesn’t know how to run ish. Just look at him in this interview, he struggles to string two words together. He’s been knocked out too many times for this type if job. He needs to just sit at home and nothing.

I’ve not spent 15 years building this sport just to have to some drunk who’s been knocked out so many times he can hardly remember his own name.

Don’t even try hate on me, I know Chuck, do you? I’ve out danced Chuck in many clubs..

by danago on Dec 29, 2010 8:36 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Lol. What does out dancing Chuck in the club have to do with anything? Or dancing with ten girls? Hell I never dance and I always get laid. I’ve noticed the less attractive guys have to put in more work/effort at the club though to get chicks, so congrats for being a good dancer. You can dance with the girls all night until their buzz wears off and they’re tired, while guys like Chuck and myself are already back in their room.

I think Chuck will do just fine as VP, and won’t drag UFC down at all. That’s why he is vice president and not president of business development. He helped develope the UFC into being what it is today so who better to continue to do so behind the scenes? Good for the UFC for looking out for someone who helped them for so long.

by Lord Levi on Dec 29, 2010 8:52 PM EST up reply actions

hey kid

Hey Danago, Im sure we met back in 95? You were talking trash then and I kicked your ass and your still at it, learn from from your first beating homy or I’ll be forced to to pin you down in front of your wife while I smile and tongue her face as you watch powerless.

Plus you talk about being in the fight game, you clean up my slevers between rounds and un-snot my nose…

by the real mo on Dec 29, 2010 9:05 PM EST up reply actions

Only the real insiders know...

Dangoo was invited to spar at ‘The Pit’ after a night partying with Chuck at a Club. Rumor was Chuck was miffed Dangoo was getting all the ladies attention. Chuck was going a little to hard in the sparing, Dangoo ended up KO’ing Chuck with the running wall kick… 8 weeks later at UFC 71 Rampage KO’d Chuck…

by THORAZINE on Dec 30, 2010 4:03 AM EST up reply actions

this is why I love danago's posts

he really thinks chuck will make any decisions rather than just be a TOY for the UFC at meetings with big mma hardcore clients

chuck...

just has trouble forming sentences at this point. It’s sad, and it seemed to me like he didn’t really know what this position was really all about. Create a position where he is VP of fan relations or something. Have him do a bunch of appearances where fans will be so in awe they won’t care about anything else….

by Fulch on Dec 29, 2010 9:44 PM EST reply actions

I dunno.

I’ve seen some interviews from 5-7 years ago, and he seemed much more articulate….

He deserves it.

He totally deserves to get this job, he has helped out the UFC and MMA as a sport so much. He really was what the UFC needed. I’m sure he’ll do great and keep promoting the sport as he has.
