A 205-pound war is on the horizon as Luis Cane meets former Cage Fighters Championship (CFC) title-holder Karlos Vemola at UFC 128 in Newark, New Jersey on Mar. 19.
Sources close to the situation confirmed the bout to Sherdog.com.
Cane's Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut didn't go according to plan as he was disqualified for landing an illegal knee to James Irvin's head at UFC 79. The next three outings were much better though, as he defeated Jason Lambert, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and former WEC light heavyweight champion Steve Cantwell.
"Banha" has been in a nightmare since then as he suffered TKO losses to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Cyrille Diabate.
Can Vemola help "Terminate" his contract with the world's largest fight promotion?
Vemola was on a roll on the independent circuit with CFC, competing as a heavyweight for the promotion. A knockout victory over Peter Yendall earned Vemola a UFC contract.
"The Terminator" suffered the first loss of his professional career to Jon Madsen in his UFC debut. Vemola decided to move down in weight and compete in the light heavyweight division. Turns out it was a good decision, as he pulverized Seth Petruzzeli on his way to winning "Knockout of the Night."
Can he make it two for two in "The Shore?"
UFC 128 will be headlined by Mauricio Rua, who will defend his UFC light heavyweight title against Rashad Evans. Ricardo Almeida will meet Mike Pyle in the welterweight division. Jersey's own Kurt Pellegrino will take on Gleison Tibau. Also on the card, unique strikers Edson Barboza and Anthony Njokuani will do battle.
