Fedor-takes-new-york1

Although original reports suggested Fedor Emelianenko would return at the Jan. 29 Strikeforce event, it now appears he won't be back until February, according to Sherdog.

Don't worry, though. Antonio Silva is still his scheduled opponent.

But don’t you think that Fedor has a say? I think he has more of a say than most people think around here. I also think that Fedor and M1 don’t want him too lose anymore so their going to book the fights that he has the best chance of winning. Bc lets be real here, Is Fedor even top 10 anymore. Maybe, but definitely not 5. If anyone thinks that he’s top 5 then their smoking something that I want!!!

Anderson Silva is by far the number one P4P king!!! Even when he is losing a fight he still comes back and finishes for the win! GSP dominates the whole fight and still can't finish! LOL

He's top 5, and you're only a state away MBOW, I can hook you up :)

Really dont care anymore

I have accepted the fact that what I loved about Fedor is gone. His management did this but he didn’t stop it.
Besides, I don’t think Fedor could smash the top UFC HW’s anymore. He’s just not active enough and the skill set of these guys are evolving so fast.

What is the point of this match-up? I’m absolutely amazed that SF is still in business with all of the stupid decisions they make.

I was really looking forward to that Hong Man rematch.

He needs to fight.

Bob Sapp. People in Japan are dumb enough to call that a fight.

It seems as though you're taking it as gospel that he'll be fighting in February.

Given the previous difficulties with his fights being scheduled, I’ll believe it when he’s actually in the cage.

I don't hate Fedor/M-1 because of this...

I hate them because they seemingly ALWAYS have to re-negotiate their contract with Strikeforce.

Fedor signs a three-fight deal and beats Rogers. They re-negotiate.

Fedor signs a NEW three-fight deal and loses to Werdum. They re-negotiate.

This shit never happens in the UFC. Fighters sign a contract, the UFC is expected to provide a certain number of fights in a certain amount of time. Re-negotiations usually only occur before/after a title shot or before the last fight on the contract.

by Applejack McNeil on Dec 18, 2010 4:08 PM EST up reply actions

I have to agree.

Renegotiating a contract over and over is kind of the opposite of why there s a contract in the first place.

I imagine Coker sitting in the Strikeforce corporate offices in his climate controlled CEO suite. He had some sushi delivered for lunch. It’s amazing, fresh and he is hungry. A quite , delicious lunch. Suddenly, Coker’s secretary buzzes him, " Yes M-1 is on line 3, something about Fedor’s contract." Coker slams down his chopsticks. “Shit!”

Hate him?

I love watching Fedor fight. What I hate is this Russian mafia BS that we have to deal with in order to see him fight a few more times before he retires.

Is it really unreasonable to want to see the best HW in the world fight other great fighters? Atleast Wand and Nog and most of the Pride greats came to fight the best

What Do You Mean?

Scared? The moment Overeem was no longer available and commited to K-1 Fedor and M-1 were really quick to say they would accept the challenge! He’s not scared, it’s just another coincidence. (sarcasm)

then hopefully fedora gets cut for having 2 losses in a row and we don’t have to hear from all his little fanboys anymore. then again this is strikeforce, it probably means he then gets a title shot.

Antonio Roids Silva?

The same guy who almost got KO’d by jobber Mike Kyle who took the fight against him on a weeks notice?
Yawn… I think I’ll pass on that one.

by _Felix_ on Dec 18, 2010 12:53 PM EST reply actions

Roids Huh?

Silva tested positive for the anabolic steroid Boldenone, and was suspended for 1 year and fined $2500.00 by the California State Athletic Commission.

Why though. Because of his use of Novadex which is a testosterone-booster that Silva uses to counteract the low testosterone levels caused by his disorder of acromegaly. I know for a fact that medication like Novadex usually costs around 8K a month. Steroids are much much cheaper then that if you just want some testesterone booster.

And his manager told the commission if they didnt like that he took that then he would choose his health and retire.

by AintNoSunshine on Dec 18, 2010 1:29 PM EST up reply actions

Oh and in case your still confused.

Acromegaly is a syndrome that results when the pituitary gland produces excess growth hormone (hGH) after epiphyseal plate closure at puberty.

by AintNoSunshine on Dec 18, 2010 1:33 PM EST up reply actions

Not confused.

Just know he took roids. Sorry to confuse you w/ the vernacular.
Your bloviating is noted though.

by _Felix_ on Dec 18, 2010 1:51 PM EST up reply actions

He did take a banned substance but he actually has a legit reason to do so. I know someone with pituitary gland disorders and its not fun. Yes they take testesterone to boost there levels but it doesnt provide them with anything else really. Basically its like taking pain pills for a swollen hand. But all the pill does is make the pain go away but the swelling stays.

by AintNoSunshine on Dec 18, 2010 2:04 PM EST up reply actions

It's called.

If you can’t fight then don’t. If you need a banned substance then pull out.

The whole situation between Fedor/M-1 and Strikeforce is a big farce. It’s ridiculous. M-1 is still trying to use Fedor as leverage to get what they want after he lost? Come on man. Just fight or retire so we can stop hearing story after story of when you “might” fight again.
