While a blizzard blanketed the upper Midwest this past weekend in as much as 20 inches of snow and even postponed an NFL game, two separate mixed martial arts (MMA) events were able to be held featuring a line-up of former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) competitors.
In Grand Forks, ND, on Dec. 10, Chris Tuchscherer's "Crowbar MMA" event saw Steve Steinbeiss and Ultimate Fighter (TUF) alums Jesse Forbes and Dane Sayers notch victories, each finishing their respective opponents.
MMAmaniac Andrew Keller did not participate.
Meanwhile on Dec. 11, Extreme Challenge 170 took place at the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN, just blocks from the deflated Metrodome.
Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Tim Sylvia secured his fourth straight victory with a first round win when his opponent, Vince Lucero, submitted to strikes. Other winning competitors included Travis Wiuff and TUF vets Tommy Speer and Paul Bradley.
Jens Pulver was originally slated to fight on this card but did not compete.
Finally, "CW Validation" saw "Gumby" himself, Jeremy Horn, submit Lee McKibbin while Rich Clementi gave "No Love" to Felipe Enomoto.
