I am starting a regular fanpost featuring questions from us Maniac's interviewing some of the best fighters in the sport, "Fans Interview Fighters". We are lucky enough to be fans of a sport young enough to allow us direct contact with the fighters we follow. The media is starting to catch on with MMALive, InsideMMA, Fighting words, The Voice VS, and of course all the great interviews we see conducted by Ariel Helwani and numerous other MMA journalists, but they are barely scratching the surface.
As fans there are many questions we wish would be asked and this is our opportunity to do so. This could be a fun interactive feature that would be relatively unique to our community, your participation will mold the entire process. I have contacted numerous fighters over the last week and have received interest from five well known fighters so far. I will only set one guideline and that is no fighter bashing in the questioning, if we are interviewing a fighter that you don't like please use common sense with your questioning and try to stay respectful of the time they are giving us.
My plan is to post a fanpost like this announceing the fighter selected to interview and inviteing you to submit your questions, I will then forward the questions to the fighter and publish the entire interview in a new fanpost approximately a week later. Keep in mind that these questions do not have to be specific to that fighters career, but could also include topics in the sport that we would love more information on, feel free to ask about any hot button topic or area of the sport that you would like to learn more about.
First up is former Olympic wrestler Daniel Cormier, coming off a big win down under for XMMA, an appearance as a coach on the current season of TUF, and a key factor in Cain Velasquesz training heading into the title fight against Brock Lesnar. Submit your questions for Daniel in the comment section below. This could be a fun feature for the site guys, so don't hold back!
