UFC 122: Seth Petruzelli wants to be known as more than just the 'Kimbo Killer'

Quoteworthy:

"I just want people to recognize me not as "The Kimbo Killer" like everyone says. I want people to know me as a great mixed martial artist. If something God forsaken happens and I get beat right away and I never fight again, I want people to know that I’ve been doing this for a long, long time, and it’s still my passion. I’ve been in martial arts since I was six and I want to be known as a great martial artist, someone who made it his career, did big things with it, and helped other people by teaching them and giving them advice."

Seth Petruzelli makes it clear he wants more respect from MMA fans. "The Silverback" is coming off an exciting second round submission loss to Ricardo Romero at UFC 116. He nearly finished the fight on multiple occasions, Romero left with a broken jaw, a torn pectoral muscle and a sprained knee, but eventually succumbed to a nasty armbar. His UFC career has consisted of a stint on season two of the "Ultimate Fighter" and three losses spanning four years. He knows he needs a win against Karlos Vemola at UFC 122 on Nov. 13 in Germany to establish himself as more than just the man that threw the jab heard round-the-world. What say you, Maniacs? Will you always think of Petruzelli as the "Kimbo Killer?" Is he good enough to cut it in the world's premier organization? Sound off.

Seth just showed that Kimbo was not a good fighter, thats all..

I like Seth, he’s a real personality just like his pal Mr Lawlor I enjoy his fights he gives it all he shouldve beaten Romero in his last fight .

Not guna happen Seth!

Beats the most overrated fighter ever then retires for like 2 years. Goes 2 the ufc & gets sub’d by mediocre opponent. He has a better chance rematching slice.

He could always be known as Tom Lawlor’s life partner.

Shouldn't someone tell him

that Big Country is remembered as the Kimbo killer?
When are we going to stop mentioning Kimbo…..lol
Seth should become an internet fighter. He has a skill set that would only help him in an alley brawl.

You're DEAD at recess.

You're right, Nelson ist

But Kimbo always sucked, I laughed when he fought Mitrione @ UFC 113

Mitrione was shit too

imo Mitrione was never in danger, Kimbo’s Punche are okay, but not dangerous. On the ground Kimbo wasn’t able to to something, he layed there like an amateur.

@ least kimbos been trying 2 prove himself. Seth was 1 hitter quitter & let the kimbo fight go 2 his head.

kimbo made an effort

I’ll give him that. If he wanted to fight me at a bar I’d wet myself.
MMA is not streetfighting. So to me, Seth beating Kimbo is as meaningful as Randy beating Toney.

Yup, at least until he does something else in the sport that trumps that.

by Hardcase on Nov 6, 2010 11:19 PM EDT reply actions

Which won't happen.

He’s not a good fighter by any means. He should be happy people still actually remember him for what he did to Kimbo to be honest. My guess is he loses his next fight and he’s cut.
