Brazilian MMA writer Gustavo Noblat talked to Chinzo Machida, Lyoto Machida’s brother and coach, about the Saturday night main event at UFC 123 versus former light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson. Check out the full interview.

Gustavo Noblat: Does Rampage’s boxing worries you?

Chinzo Machida: Sure. We hardworked to prevent Lyoto from being punched by his boxing hits. Pedro Rizzo and Glover Teixeira stayed in the camp to set a specific training for Rampage. Glover has a similar game and this helped out Lyoto’s preparation a lot.

What’s the best strategy for Lyoto?

Hit and circle is what he has to do. Rampage’s blow is very strong. We have to avoid uppers and crossed punches. We know he is limited in kicking but his hand’s attacks are extremely heavy.

Does Rampage represent less danger than Rashad Evans?

Both of them were champions and are dangerous in the same average but their games are different and Lyoto needs a distinct training for each one. Rashad has more speed and Rampage owns more pressure on the attacks. As much as it seems to be easier to face Rampage, actually the danger is the same.

The news about Rampage lacking dedication into MMA are passed to Lyoto?

We don’t think much on it. If we think that Rampage did the film, that fighting doesn’t interest him anymore, that he is tubby, this weaken our camp and spirit. We guess Rampage came to win, he comes hungry and prepared for the harder. Whether he isn’t ready, it’s up to him. We’re dedicating at the most. If he doesn’t come strong it’s this problem. We’re considering the worst. In no moment we said this (that Quinton Jackson isn’t focused to square off Lyoto Machida).

Does his encitement bother?

Lyoto doesn’t get into teasing. I haven’t heard many taunts by Rampage despite he does it a lot. He is on his own this time. Lyoto is a focused athlete and goes there to do his job. He was always calm and doesn’t feel affected by provocations.

Machida’s win over Quinton Jackson could place Lyoto closer to another title shot after Rashad Evans try his luck versus current champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in date still to be confirmed by the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Who wins tomorrow night main event in your opinion?
