Rashad Evans: 'If that's how Josh Koscheck really is ... wow'

Anthony-johnson-josh-koscheck-2009-11-22-2-10-20_medium_medium

Props: Pro MMA Radio

Quoteworthy:

"Koscheck is coming off bad. Koscheck has a golden opportunity to get people to see the real side of him, but I guess this is the real side of him (laughs). That's the sad part about it, if that's how the dude really is.... wow. When he came into the Cain (Velasquez) and Brock (Lesnar) fight, I turned around and I thought there was a fight in the stands. It was the loudest boo I've ever heard. I'm an expert at boos because I've been booed on many occasions. My expertise in being booed allowed me to know this was something different."

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans isn't very impressed with Josh Koscheck's antics as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Season 12. Evans was a coach himself on TUF Season 10, who helped his fighters like Matt Mitrione and Brendan Schaub succeed on the show. Koscheck, however, is more well known this season for his attitude than his coaching. Sound off, Maniacs. Do you think "Suga's" remarks towards Koscheck are warranted? Or is there more to Koscheck than you're seeing on TUF?

Agreed with Rashad

Kos has a chance to be himself on the show and win over his critics, instead he’s desperately trying to make himself into MMAs biggest heel. He’s doing a pisspoor job at taking away GSP’s focus and has lost any hope of building a fanbase, plus he seems to be more bothered about promoting his fight than coaching. Rashad actually showed his intelligence and dedication to the sport and his team on TUF, even his biggest critics have to admit that he came off well (random arguments with Rampage aside).

I'm one of his biggest critics David

and I didn’t think Rashad came off well in TUF. I wanted to smash him myself. He couldn’t fail coming across as considerate to his fighters against Rampage. Soon as he opened his mouth with Rampage the real Rashad came out.

I think he’s just a Rampage wannabe and is in NO position to offer other fighters advice on how to get over with the fans!

Better than Rampage? Christ....

Guessing you aint been into MMA long right?

I think i’ve found four of his fights entertaining and two of those he either got KTFO’d or got a lucky draw. I dont give a monkeys how good a coach he is. Facts are, he’s not a fighter in the truest sense of the word and he’s a grade A wanker.

He idolised Rampage when he was starting out, hell, if it wasn’t for Rampage you probably wouldn’t even see Rashad in MMA

I don't understand your argument.

Rashad doesn’t have the body of work that Rampage does but at this point in time I do agree he is a better fighter. Entertaining is nice but when talking about the better fighter it doesn’t amount to much.

I don't know if he's a better fighter but he's getting results.

He was extremely annoying on TUF Rampage should have shoved his fist down Rashad’s throat a couple times to shut him up. All he did was talk, just like Kos only difference is Rampage responded.

I'll give you that much, Dave

Rashad was clearly a better coach, which is no surprise since he’s come up in one of the best coaching camps in MMA and Rampage has never had a decent coaching team in his career.

But Rashad also came across as a total self-righteous, pretentious, two-faced, douchebag. And while I think his sense of brotherhood and care for his students was genuine, I also think he was a total ass about always pointing it out in front of Rampage’s team and made a total prick of himself by publicly asking Rampage’s students if they wanted to come train with him, right in front of their coach. My only beef with Rashad prior to that show was the way he totally disrespected Forrest in the ring. But by the end of that show I hated that little prick.

Rashad even admitted that his own Mama likes Rampage better than him, and rooted for Rampage when they fought.

Rashad shows he is intelligent when speaking (bickering aside) so
+3 for Shad

The argument is about who is better.

I believe Page is a better fighter, Rashad is a better and more dedicated athlete.

Rashad is also way better at stifling a fight into a nullifying bore because he cant fight a true top fighter.

The entertainment jab was more a nod to that fact.

Hope this helps..

Spoken like a true bitter Rampage fan,

or Chuck or Forrest or Silva fan. Other dislikes of him include trying to be clever wearing a suit, or not keeping it real, which I am assuming is either not acting like a joker or clown like Rampage or speaking like Kimbo,. Another one I remember was, thinking too much before he answeres a question. WTF. The guy cant even breathe right for some people. Proven you guys wrong nearly every time, and you still keep on hating. Don’t keep on bitching because he has proven you wrong, and because he showed those who said he had no chance whatsoever against Page, that Page is not even half the fighter he was in Pride.

All his wins against top quailty fighters are questionable eg T.Silva (Injured Back), Forrest (Broken Hand and over rated), Rampage (13 Month Lay Off, 251lbs 8 weeks before the fight) Chuck (way past his prime) and now Shogun (Fucked knee)

You really think Rashad is a good fighter? or Dry Humper?

Both Kos and Rashad came off bad at times

Obviously Kos is coming off bad on TUF, but i almost feel he wants to. He enjoys being the villain. I don’t really understand why, but he does.

Rashad came off bad on TUF in only a few instances. Mostly during the arguments with Rampage.

But the big difference is, Rashad came off looking 100% better at coaching than Rampage did. Rashad cared more about his fighters—heck he even cared more about Rampage’s fighters than Rampage did. Rashad is smarter than Rampage, so i guess it’s no surprise. And Rashad doesn’t put fame ahead of work ethic, unlike Rampage, who seemed only to be on the show so he could get TV time (and for the chance to fight Rashad, of course).

Plus, Rampage is about one of the laziest successful fighters in the biz. He’s so lazy, he makes the old BJ Penn look good. I mean seriously, was there any wonder at all who was going to win that fight between him and Rashad after watching the entire season? Please. Rashad wins that fight 9 times out of 10, simply because he’s willing to work harder than Rampage.

At the end of the day, love him or hate him, Rashad is a winner. He’s used to winning and he finds ways to win.

I guess that makes Rampage a loser (despite being, at times, the more “likable” personality).

Kos ain't acting

You can only act so much, and creative TUF editing can only do so much.

The sad fact is, despite all that, Kos STILL looks bad. He’s ignorant, inmature and not a very good coach — concentrates on himself more than his team.

BTW… the dude who posted the Simon and Garfunkle photo = genius.

lol

at Rashad

I would rather watch Koscheck be a real life jerk than watch Rashad Evans PRETEND to be a good guy like he when he was on TUF, as opposed to the showboating, cocky punk that he shows himself to be when he’s fighting.

my thoughts exactly, Cough

at least Kos knows he’s a prick. Rashad tries to convince himself and the world that he’s this dignified intellectual philanthropic sportsman, then gets in the ring and curses people while making obscene gestures and fondling his genitals at them. He’s a total poser and I can’t stand him. If I had to choose between hanging out with Rashad or hanging out with Koscheck, I’d volunteer for a lobotomy.

I think this is the real kos.

He was featured in sept issue of Fight! magazine and there’s a big deal in it about him just playing the role of the bad guy for his own “good.” He says something like “if you sit down and just talk with me for 10 mins I guarantee you will fall in love with me” which is quite retarded without explanation. I understand that he’s trying to make people notice him, and whether they like him or not he doesn’t care – it makes him more of a draw, yeah I get it. But it’s pathetic, considering there are less marketable fighters with more skill that keep their mouths shut and impress me ten times more – from the same damn gym much less.

Obviously we don’t get the whole story because we see 42 mins per week of a show that lasts over a month, but enough is shown to have me convinced that kos is just a clown who thinks he’s much smarter than he really is. The whole deal with the “male nurse” and his beef with cody mckenzie is just sad. Half the time he just comes off as really insecure and not really confident in his own trash talk. Also sad is his lack of sportsmanship – banging on the wall in the dressing room, general disrespect to GSP and his whole team/entourage… couple that with his acting in the octagon and it’s just really hard for me to like the guy.

You're male nurse, huh?

Really? A male nurse? A male one? A nurse that’s a male? You’re actually… a male nurse?

Kos

has been an ass since the TUF he was in. I will never like him and hope he gets beaten badly.
