Despite losing back-to-back fights to Martin Kampmann (UFC 115) and Diego Sanchez (UFC 121), Paulo Thiago (13-3) has signed a new, four-fight contract with the UFC according to Fighters Only.

Yea but I'm sure his new 4 fight contract can still be terminated at any time =P

No Doubt
Contract just means you get paid X amount if we decide to keep you lol. So we will sign you to the longest contract we can so we can pay you a low salary if you start doing good and just cut you if you do bad.

You would think they would have to compensate the fighters if they cut them early from there contract
But that’s the UFC for you. I hope he wins his next match because I like this guy, if he can work on his technique standing and his TDD he could be a serious contender
Anticipation has a habit to set you up for disappointment
He has every right to demand full compensation for all 4 fights on that contract...
and then he will fight for Strikeforce for 50% what the UFC is paying when Dana White laughs at him and tears up the contract.
Pain Train is a farce

OJR speaks Truth
this is why we need great fighters in other organizations
Even tho we don’t get to see some of our deram matchups, it would be bad for the fans and the fighters if dana had everybody on the ufc roster…we would all have to deal with whatever he deemed fit, or not watch at all

You'd get the best fighting the best on a consistent basis
and if they lose 2-3 in a row then they’re either slipping or in a slump and some time in a smaller org to rack up a few quality wins wouldn’t hurt at all.

Not shocking,
he is super tough, he has respect and he always shows up to fight. I ike Paulo, regardless of his losses, he always brings it!
Regardless of him "bringing it"
Show some sort of improvement. The guy is the exact same fighter as he was at 95. A Sub-par ground game at best, decent submission attemps, even though it seems all he knows how to do is the d’arce/brabo choke, good power jn his hands, but the worst stand up echnique jn all the ww division

I am happy for him. Props to Dana for not cutting him.
Another loss to kg12, the original conductor of The Cain Train. Velasquez > Lesnar = UFC HW Champ. Brocktober is over, forever.
His next couple of fights will either be
two fighters he SHOULD be able to beat or two strong ground fighters who he has no chance against. That’ll show you immediately what the UFC thinks of him. Either they like him or just want to make a name off of him.

It's possible that Santiago might have been injured as well, I lost because my best was insufficient, only mortifying thoughts remain now. I think I would've entered the ring even if I lost one of my legs, I'm a fighter who fights, not with technique, but with heart."

PT
PT is one of my fav. fighters. He def. needs a win in his next fight. But the guy is fun to watch. So the UFC wouldn’t have cut him in because of his recent loses. Just hope he doesn’t make it a habit. Def. needs to work on his TDD and sharpen up his standup.
The best thing he can do, is (unfortunately) stop working for BOPE and dedicate to MMA fulltime. You’re never gonna be a top MMA fighter, training part time and working a crazy job like BOPE the rest of your time.
He pisses me off....
He beats Koz, beats swick, losses a close one to fitch… Then looks bad aginst kampman and can’t bounce back aginst deigo after beating him in the first round. I like him but he can’t get a rythem going. Shows that 170 is competive weight class

I wouldn't think so
He looks pretty solid at 170. 55 may drain him out too much

Just seems to be the thing to do for unsuccessful fighters at a certain weight.
I have no idea if he could make the weight.
I could see that happening if he loses his next fight BNF
Cant see him making an impact at 155 though, that division’s getting really stacked now, even more so with the WEC acquasition. Suppose it’ll buy him some time though and an extra fight or two.
he'd be HUUUUGE if he went to 155. probably get tired walking to the ring too.

Didn't he look bigger than Diego at 170?
I know it was a tough cut for Diego…
thiago is a beast
I think people are forgetting because he lost to two of the best that this is the dude who ko’d koscheck and put swick to sleep
