UFC 124: Ricardo Almeida vs TJ Grant possible for Montreal
Welterweights Ricardo Almeida and T.J. Grant are in talks to compete at UFC 124: "Georges St. Pierre vs. Koscheck 2" in Montreal on December 11 according to "Showdown" Joe Ferraro.
"Big Dog" was last seen in action against Matt Hughes at UFC 117. In a fight that many thought he would win, Almeida fell victim to a vicious front headlock from Hughes that put him to sleep.
It was Ricardo's second bout at 170 since dropping down from middleweight. He won his debut at the weight class against Matt Brown at UFC 111 via a 2nd round submission.
The Renzo Gracie-trained fighter also previously defeated Kendall Grove at UFC 101 last summer by way of unanimous decision.
T. J. Grant has alternated wins and losses in his last five contests.
Grant is coming off a win over Julio Paulino at UFC 119. Prior to that bout, T.J. lost to Johny Hendricks at UFC 113, defeated Kevin Burns at UFC 107, and fell victim to Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 100.
The 26-year-old Canadian is 16-4 overall with a record of 3-2 since coming over to the UFC.

This 124 card really needs a good co-main event.

was coming here to say that!
needs an awesome one…im thinking about making this my first ufc event! stack the shit outta it!!
I'm gonna go home, watch DirecTV, drink bud light and ride my Harley Davidson!!
UFC 124 card so far:
Georges St. Pierre vs. Josh Koscheck (WW title)
Thiago Alves vs. John Howard
Ricardo Almeida vs. TJ Grant
Stefan Struve vs. Sean McCorcle
Dustin Hazelett vs. Mark Bocek
They aren’t doing televised prelims for this one due to some lame-ass awards show for tweens on Spike — so five televised fights is all we get.
In all honesty, looking at this card so far, I see TWO fights that are main card material: The main event, and the Alves/Howard tilt. After that it looks like undercard city. The way Zuffa is doing things thgese days though, watch this be the main card.

I’m kind of sick of hearing how awesome Almeida’s jiz is. The dude hasn’t looked like a submission matser at all in his UFC career. He’s really good at tapping minor-leaguers and he kicks ass in grappling gi-competitions.
The dude was a split-second from being arm-barred by Kendall fucking Grove for Chrissakes. I’m ready to officially add him to my “overrated” pile.

A lot of people were real high on him before the Hughes fight.

I’m not going to call Groves a submission master or a great BJJ-MMA fighter but I would not sleep on his skills. Notice, I didn’t call him underrated either.

Uhmmm . . . I heard that before the Hughes fight.
As stated above, the Hughes fight was not his first in his return. And it was not his first 170lbs. fight since dropping from 185lbs.
With that said, I’m not trying to take shots at Almeida but I’ve heard people shout in bold he should take this fight . . . its only Matt Hughes. Now Hughes beat him twice, that chapter is over.

If you’ve gotten lost in a grappling tournament, you should just approach the PA guy and let him know. Then he can make an announcement and your parents can meet you by the main entrance.

What I am saying is that everyone screams the greatness of the guy one minute and when he has a set back people shit on him. He gave 3 years of his PRIME and then returned. He is way behind in the evolution curve.
Everyone knows MMA evolution is bullshit. MMA was created by God six days ago from the rib of a boxer.
