Strikeforce: "Diaz vs. Noons II" is all set for tonight (Oct. 9) at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.The five-fight main card will air live on Showtime, beginning at 10 p.m. ET.
In a rematch of bitter rivals, welterweight champion Nick Diaz will look to avenge the last loss of his career when he steps into the cage opposite hard-hitting challenger KJ Noons. Female welterweight champion Sarah Kaufman will also defend her title in the co-main event against Dutch submissions specialist Marloes Coenen.
Former lightweight champion Josh "The Punk" Thomson, two-time collegiate All-American wrestler Tyron Woodley, American Top Team trainee "JZ" Cavalcante and Brazilian jiu jitsu stud Andre Galvao are also booked for the card.

Josh Thomson defeats Gesias Cavalcante via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
Tyron Woodley defeats Andre Galvao via technical knockout (strikes) at 1:48 of round one

Nick Diaz vs. KJ Noons (170-pound limit)
Round one: KJ takes the center. Diaz with a leg kick then a jab. Diaz taking to him. KJ leans in and misses. Brief tie up but no clinch. More leg kicks from Diaz. Nice jabs from KJ. Now Diaz with a stiff jab to the nose. KJ answers to the body. Now a right hand from Diaz drops KJ to his knees! Diaz wastes no time jumping on him, making sure KJ doesn't get back to his feet. He has side control. The crowd is chanting Diaz's name loudly. Diaz stands and KJ tries to follow him, but Diaz is all over him with punches. They're back to their feet now, though, and they separate. Another nice right hand from Diaz. Now a left. More jabs and straights from the champ. Now a high kick. KJ still moving forward, but he's eating punches. KJ misses with a power combo. More punches in bunches from Diaz, but Noons lands a hard jab. Nice counter body punch from KJ. Noons misses with some wild uppercuts. Diaz still peppering him with straights. Noons lands weigh a left hand. Diaz raises his hands and does a little showboating. KJ drills him with a punch before the bell sounds. 10-9 Diaz.
Round two: KJ takes the center again right away. Diaz showing high kicks. KJ drills Diaz to the body and then the head. Diaz is cut. Noons doing some talking now. Nice one-two from Diaz. Diaz shoots and KJ easily avoids it. Nick is starting to look a little bit uncomfortable on his feet now. Noons lands with a big left. Diaz answers to the body. Jabs from KJ. Right hand from Diaz. Nice jabs and leg kick from Diaz. Noons to the body again and then upstairs. Diaz goes to soutpaw and lands a leg kick. Noons leans in and misses with power. Knee to the body from KJ. Leg kick from Diaz. Both fighters are bleeding. Nick with a nice jab and he avoids two big punches from Noons. Right hand from Diaz. KJ catches him with a hard right hand now after missing with a left. Big left hook and uppercut from KJ. Diaz to the body with a kick. Now up top and then to the legs. Jabs from KJ and then another knee to the body. Big right hand from KJ. Straights from Diaz and into the clinch momentarily before KJ gets separation. Right hand from Noons. Another knee to the body before the bell. Big round for the challenger. 10-9 Noons.
Round three: KJ takes the center right away again. He's still talking to Diaz and he misses with a big right hand. Diaz tries for a single and gets nowhere. Noons to the body and then upstairs. Jab from both fighters. Right hand from Diaz. Now a left to the body. Noons to the body and Diaz counters with a nice left. Nice exchange again with Diaz landing a left hand. KJ misses with a couple wild punches. Diaz goes back to the body. Right hands land from both. Diaz doing a nice job with his straight punches again. He connects with a right. Now a leg kick. KJ backing away and circling out now. Left hook from KJ lands. He gets another one blocked. Diaz talking again. Diaz moving forward and he eats an uppercut. Straights and jabs from Diaz. Kick to the body from the champ. Jab from KJ. Into the clinch for a second before separating. Jab from Noons. Nice one-two from Diaz. Left hand from Noons. Thirty seconds to go. Both fighters are punching in bunches. This is a great fight. KJ misses with a looping left. Diaz lands a kick. The bell sounds. Close round. Tough to judge.
Round four: Leg kick from both fighters. Diaz tries a high kick, then another. Now he goes to the body with a right hand. Then a jab. Now a Thai clinch, but Noons punches his way out. Nice one-two from the champ. Diaz looks fresh and he's throwing a ton of punches. Leg kick from Diaz. KJ with a nice right hand. Diaz with a right hand now. KJ jabbing, but not landing. KJ with a couple body punches then a leg kick. Diaz tries for another clinch then lands a leg kick. Nice left from Diaz. Diaz lands with three unanswered punches. Hard left hand from KJ. Diaz peppering him with punches. Noons with power to the body. Now Diaz to the body. They're toe to toe and now they clinch up. KJ back to the body. Knee from Diaz. KJ jabbing. Diaz circles out. Now Noons connects with a huge right hand that stund the champion. Diaz eats it and stands tough. Into the clinch again and Diaz connects with a big knee that stuns the challenger. He doesn't follow it up, though. High kicks from Diaz. Straight punches from Diaz. Hard right hand from a bloody KJ Noons. The round ends. 10-9 Diaz. He's likely ahead going into the fifth. Great fight so far!
Round five: KJ basically starts the round in the center of the cage. Leg kicks from Diaz. Noons with punches. Diaz tries a single. He almost gets it, but Noons escapes. Straight right from Nick. KJ missing with jabs. Body kick from Diaz. Straights from Diaz as Noons misses with power shots. To the body from the challenger. Thai clinch from Diaz and he unloads three or four unanswered punches to the head of the challenger. Leg kick after the separation. Noons with a couple nice left hands. Diaz still peppering him with those straight punches, though. KJ misses with an uppercut and Diaz clinches. KJ gets out and avoids the takedown. Straight rights from Noons. Diaz eats a hard left hook. Now he connects with a right hand. KJ jabbing. Diaz tries for another clinch, but can't get it. Nice right hand from Noons lands and Diaz felt that one. He tries to clinch right away, but KJ circles out. Diaz with a spinning back kick. Another stiff right hand lands from the challenger. Diaz showing a hard chin in this round. He's eaten some big shots. A minute to go. That clinch and knees from the champ. One-two combo from Diaz now. Big punches from both fighters. Thai clinch with a knee again from Diaz. Again. The bell sounds with KJ whiffing on a right hand. What a great fight. I've got Diaz retaining his belt on my card.
Final result: Nick Diaz defeats KJ Noons via unanimous decision (48-47, 49-47, 49-46)

Sarah Kaufman vs. Marloes Coenen (135-pound limit)
Round one: Here we go with the women's welterweight title fight! Coenen runs out and takes the center. She misses with a leg kick. Kaufman showing her jab. She eats a right hand from Coenen. Now a leg kick. Nice one-two from the challenger. Small exchange with Coenen getting the better with nicely placed counter punches. Leg kick again from Coenen. Another nice counter punch from Coenen. Leg kick again, and Kaufman is having a hard time finding her range here early. Jab from Kaufman lands now. Hard leg kick from Coenen. Jab from Kaufmn. Leg kick from Coenen and then a right hand. Kaufman with a nice combination and Coenen has to close the distance and clinch up. She's looking for a takedown, but Kaufman is defending well. Nice punches from Coenen against the fence. Knees from Kaufman. The referee calls for a separation. Nice right hand, left hand combo from Coenen. Kaufman ate it well, but she definitely felt that. Back into the clinch with both women jockeying for position. Kaufman looking for a trip now. She can't get it. Knees from the champion. Knees from both now. The referee wants another separtion. Leg kick from Coenen. Another. Kaufman misses with a right hand. Coenen leans in with a left and misses. Hard leg kick and a nice flurry from the champ just before the bell. 10-9 Coenen.
Round two: Leg kick right away from Coenen. Nice left hand lands from Kaufman. Now a right. Small exchange with Kaufman landing. Into the clinch and Coenen tries for a trip. Kaufman denies her and drives her into the fence. Dirty boxing from Kaufman. Knee from Coenen. Lots of maneuvering going on against the cage. The referee wants another separation now. Kaufman with a nice counter two punch combo. Left hook misses from Coenen. Kaufman catches a hard body kick and drives Coenen into the cage again. The kick did land, though. Kaufman trying to bully the challenger. She looks to be the stronger fighter in the clinch so far. Knees from Coenen. Knees from both now. Another separation from the ref. Kaufman moving forward with jabs, but again she's having a hard time with the length of Coenen. Leg kick lands from Coenen, but Kaufman times a nice counter right hand. Into the clinch and Coenen scores with a nice hip toss but she lands on the bottom. Kaufman with some vicious ground strikes. Coenen looks for an armbar but she can't get it. The bell sounds and I like the champ in that round. 10-9 Kaufman.
Round three: Nice right hand from Coenen to open the action in round three. Kaufman circling around. Coenen with a nice takedown, but Kaufman reverses right away and takes the top position. Coenen with full guard. Kaufman looking to land strikes as Coenen works for submissions with her long legs. She closes the guard back up now. Kaufman postures and drills Coenen with some ground strikes. Lots of punches from the champion here. Coenen defending and now she locks in an armbar. Kaufman taps out and that's it. Beautiful finish by Marloes Coenen. She is the new Strikeforce women's welterweight champion! And Sarah Kaufman may be injured.
Final result: Marloes Coenen defeats Sarah Kaufman via submission (armbar) at 1:59 of round three

Gesias Cavalcante vs. Josh Thomson (155-pound limit)
Round one: JZ runs out and takes the center. He misses with a left hand and Thomson circles to avoid a clinch. Thomson gets a high kick blocked. Hard leg kick from JZ before he drives Thomson into the fence. Knees from both guys. JZ working hard for the takedown, but Thomson's wrestling is holding up against the fence here. More knees from JZ. Thomson gets separation and lands a leg kick. Thomson ducks that left hand again and circles out to avoid the clinch. Small exchange and Thomson got clipped in the ear. He grabs it for a second like he was hurt, but then continues. JZ moves forward right away and drops him with a flurry of punches. Thomson pops right back up and grabs for a single. JZ working capitalizes with arm in guillotine. He has it deep and he closes up his guard. Thomson trying to power his way out, but JZ is squeezing and refuses to let go. Punches to the body from Thomson and he's out. Blood coming from Thomson's face now as he works more ground strikes to the body. Now he's going up top with the ground and pound. Thomson setting up an arm triangle now. He passes to side control and he has it deep. JZ gets saved by the bell. Great opening round. It was all JZ early, but Thomson dominated the final minute. Could go either way.
Round two: JZ has the center right away. He's showing his jab, but not landing anything yet. Now he closes the distance with a combination and initiates a clinch. Thomson with his back against the fence and JZ unloads a couple of knees. Thomson spins him around and works some knees of his own now. He's really working JZ's legs with knees here. Now JZ reverses and tries a trip. He gets it for a second, but Thomson stays clinched and is back on his feet quickly. Both fighters jockeying for position and working knees. Takedown from Thomson now. JZ tries to reverse it on the way down, but Thomson lands on his back. He has one hook in and he's softening JZ up with punches. JZ controlling his wrist for defense here, but Thomson continues to punch away with his free hand. Now Thomson looking for the arm triangle again, but JZ takes advantage and gets to half guard. Nice ground strikes from Thomson before the bell. That round was all him. 10-9 Thomson.
Round three: JZ with the center again. Thomson shows a high kick. Now Thomson tries for a takedown, but JZ defends it well. JZ walking him down here and he unloads a knee before clinching. Thomson works him into the fence and lands a couple knees. Thomson almost scores with a trip takedown, but JZ uses the fence to defend it. Now JZ scores with a takedown and he lands in full mount! Thomson holding on to JZ's neck. JZ working the body punches. Now Thomson bucks out and gets half guard. Thomson working hard from his back and he gets full guard. Now he has a rubber guard and he looks into the camera and smiles. JZ with some ground and pound. Thomson trying hard to get back to his feet. He gets there. Very nicely done. They're separated now with two minutes to go. Big punches from JZ and Thomson falls to his back. JZ into his full guard and he continues to throw ground strikes. Thomson moves towards the fence and now he's trying to climb back to his feet. Thomson trying a guillotine now, but he doesn't have it. Body shots from both fighters. JZ with good control. Thomson can't get up, but it's not for a lack of trying. JZ stands and lands a few punches before the final bell. Great fight. That round was all JZ. This fight is going to come down to how that first round was scored. I've got JZ.
Final result: Josh Thomson defeats Gesias Cavalcante via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

Andre Galvao vs. Tyron Woodley (170-pound limit)
Round one: Gloves touch and we're underway with the first fight of the Showtime telecast. Woodley with a low stance. Galvao has the center. They exchange jabs. Nice one-two from Woodley stuns Galvao momentarily, but he's okay. Galvao shoots. Woodley sprawls, unloads a few punches and then stands up. Nice body kick from Woodley. Another one-two from Woodley stuns Galvao as he shoots in. He gets back to his feet and avoids more damage. Galvao misses with an overhand right then a lazy high kick. Galvao shoots again and eats another couple of punches from Woodley. Woodley showing good takedown defense. Galvao stands up but he's wobbly. Woodley moves in for the kill and it doesn't take much before the referee steps in and stops the fight. Extremely lackluster performance from Galvao. Impressive win for Woodley.
Final result: Tyron Woodley defeats Andre Galvao via technical knockout (strikes) at 1:48 of round one

NOBODY wants to fight Fedor, Except: Brock Lesnar, Shane Carwin, Frank Mir, JDS, Roy Nelson, Cain Velasquez, Matt "Kimbo Killer" Mitrione(by popular demand) and the rest of the UFC Heavyweight division.
I would imagine Zaromskis is headed back to Dream. And Mousasi is coming off his Dream victory just this past week or so.

I swear half of people don’t even know what constitutes a stoppage by cut. Anything inside the orbital bone/soft spot. If its inside his eyebrow aka his eyelid, or directly below (bottom eyelid) it can risk long term effects, or temp/long term blindness. That’s a stoppage. That’s why the huge cuts on foreheads can still continue.
That was a just stoppage x2.

There’s no reason to think that Nick has a chance in this fight. That is, if you saw their first fight. Five rounds just means more chances for KJ to actually knock Nick unconscious.

you forgot to mention that judges take into account the hometown favorite lol. if they hold a clinic/convention they could form a base of scoring and judging. i assume they hold something to sort out illegal blows and what not on a regular basis to tweak rules (spine, back of head, etc other added rules), why not something for judging?

he didn’t win the fight out right. It was to close for him to think that he did enough to take the belt from the champion. Its just a respect thing that the champion gets in the eyes of the judges. The fighter has to come in and take that belt not just maybe go either way.

true lineal champions……only by beating the true champ can you be “the champ”. Too many people claimed to be world champ but as far as the real belts….they were all under one line.
