Ben Henderson has a 'Smooth' message for the 'other' UFC lightweights ...

Wec40_ben_henderson_main_medium

He ... is ... coming ... according to his latest Facebook update:

Just heard about the merger, I was out running and when I got home had a hundred missed calls and a thousand texts...I'm excited that's really cool but I have a dance on Dec.16th to get ready for first, that's the only thing I care about right now...BUT all of you other '55ers out there consider this your official notice, I'M COMING, it was always a matter of when but now we know and it's a lock, train hard...

Where do you rank the WEC Lightweight Champion in the UFC's 155-pound division now that the promotions are merging? Does he make your top five? Top ten? "Smooth" will face the winner of Frankie Edgar vs. Gray Maynard to unify the WEC and UFC lightweight titles -- if he can get past Anthony Pettis at WEC 53 on Dec. 16.

i rally think brock should fight undertaker in a once in a lifetime real fight in wwe.

just think of the ratings? vince mcmahan is a billionaire. just give both fighters 10 million dollars and promote the hell out of it. hell you could even use that interview that was on tmz over and over again. vitor belfort is right. lesnar is not a mma fighter. he is a one dimensional wrestler just like kimbo was a one dimensional striker.

OJR…. don’t bother. This idiot has been running around smearing Lesnar since the fight. Three days prior to the fight he made the claim that Lesnar was the best HW ever. His avatar is of Brock. He even made this retarded fanpost:

http://www.mmamania.com/2010/10/11/1745486/could-switching-to-mania-be-a-good-idea-is-getting-in-the-octagon-vs

He just suggested that the WWE set up a REAL fight between Brock and the Undertaker and pay them 10 million each. Doesn’t that sound like something a nine year-old child might suggest?

Anyway, slapping this simpleton around was kind of fun, but I’ve made a Hallowe’en resolution: no more acknowledging posters with an IQ under 70. Also, I’m convinced this fellow has some kind of brain damage or mental disorder. I wish him the best with his handicapped future endeavors.

Great another bandwagon jumper

Some of these supposed Brock fans are an embarrassment, first free now wolf have gone from boasting about how great Brock is to claiming that he’s not a MMAst. What a joke. It’s impossible to take anything seriously from a fan when they only back winners.

And the Brock-Taker shoot fight at Mania has to make the top 5 stupidest ideas suggested on Mania. Taker is approaching his 50s and has no pro fights whilst Brock just lost the UFC HW title, was an NCAA champion and is over 10 years younger. Plus Taker is approaching retirement because of his age and mounting injuries, WWE want to be able to control the results (that’s the whole point of pro wrestling) so they won’t put their top guy and his streak that they have built for almost 20 years at risk in a real fight that would last a minute and be horrible to watch. Wrestling fans don’t want to watch real fights (see the disaster that was the Brawl for All) otherwise they’d pay to see combat sports. And WWE don’t have 20 million to spend on 2 wrestlers to fight for real. Moronic suggestion on every level.

Untrue.

Months before Wrestlemania XXIV, the WWE announced regularly that Floyd Mayweather would be given $20 million dollars to have a boxing match with Paul “the Big Show” Wight. The company mentioned this so often that quite a few news sources reported the $20 million dollar figure as fact. But more than likely the $20 million dollar payout was apart of the wrestling storyline, especially since the WWE reported that Wrestlemania XXIV generated around $23.8 million in total revenue.

There are sources that are reporting that Mayweather more than likely received around $2 million for his Wrestlemania appearance, plus a percentage of the pay-per-view buys.

Just part of the circus, homie.

with this merge, the’re gonna need to put on cards every 2 weeks consistently in order to have every weightclass fight. the ufc already puts a card on atleast every 3 weeks.

i was hoping the surprise was gonna be a ufc channel that airs the live cards. hopefully this merge will push them to do this because there’s gonna be too many cards for ppl to put down $50/card.

I don’t see Benson out-wrestling Gray, but I do see Bendo having just as much (maybe a bit more) to offer on the feet, and has better Jits. If Gray shoots for doubles all day, he is going to be guillotined. If he managed to stay out of the guillotine, Gray wins the decision. Those are the only two ways I see that fight going.

But when one org. absorbs another, and the absorbee still has title holders, those title holders need to fight for the title in their weight class. So say Ben does fight Gray. They will effectively be fighting for two titles, and to be the last WEC 155 champ ever.

Henderson and Andy unified the Pride and UFC belts.

Another loss to kg12, the original conductor of The Cain Train. Velasquez > Lesnar = UFC HW Champ. Brocktober is over, forever.

thats exactly what i hate

once Pride went defunct/sold everything stops. there’s no Pride title on the line in the UFC. The UFC follows entirely different rules. Pride is more real fighting, whereas the UFC is more of a sport.

And where’s the Pride title now? In andy’s hands? no. they just used that for marketing.

because it doesn't exist.

why say “unify” the titles if one of the belts no longer exists. its just a marketing tool for dummies to tune in. Kinda like “Interim Belts”. Look up the ufc champs on Wikipedia, its so damn confusing because they list all the interim champs.

Interim Drives Me Nuts

But I’m ok with the unification thing.

Shogun's knee will explode for the final time when Rashad shoots for the takedown.

interim belts are 10x worse.

atleast unification fights are actualy champs, even tho 1 company doesn’t exist.

it is going to be tough for the UFC to beat that title fight

Those two guys are going to bring it. Either way, we will be entertained. Pettis v Hendo > Frankie v Gray by a long shot.

Benson but i hope and think Showtime will smash him he has crazy stand up and a promising groundgame. I also cant stand the whole priest thing Henderson does when he wins, being religious is good but he takes i too far an public

Smooth in the UFC, wow

Until Aldo beats a really elite UFC LW wrestler, I’ll have some lingering doubts about his ability to dominate at 155. Stuffing Mike Brown ain’t the same as stuffing Gray Maynard.

That being said, standing he will blast anybody at 155. Period.

?

??

Brock’s wrestling is more overrated than his 280lbs frame and athleticism. Cain would have outwrestled that ass up and down the mats in pure wrestling all day long and you all know it. Sidenote all hail NNR

Cain is w/o a doubt the greatest HW that has ever stepped foot in the ufc! The only belt Brock will ever get back is in the WWE. Hail king cain P4P best on the planet!
