UFC Quick Quote: Chris Lytle wants Carlos Condit
"Even before he fought, I said basically I want to fight a top contender and a good, exciting fighter. I wanted to fight the winner of the Condit-[Dan] Hardy fight. After seeing Carlos knock Hardy out, it made me want it even more. He's looking really good right now, beating good people and he's a really exciting fighter. That's what I'm looking for."
Chris Lytle is interested in facing former WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit (via MMA Fighting). "Lights Out" is on a four fight winning streak. Most recently, Lytle defeated Matt Serra by unanimous decision at UFC 119, picking him apart in the standup. Condit is coming off a devastating knockout victory over former number one contender Dan Hardy in the first round at UFC 120. What do you think? Will "Lights Out" and the "Natural Born Killer" lock horns in the near future?

I want Condit to get Shields....
Shields has no business fighting GSP… And I think they should let Condit prove that and have GSP start packing on weight to fight AS.

I like the match up
I still like a Lytle/Shields match up better. As a fan of Lytle, I think he’s on one of the biggest rolls in the WW division. Problem is, as long as GSP is on top, he will never be. Other than GSP though, I see Lytle being competitive with everyone else!

Likewise Kev.
Lytle’s one of those guys who has the ability to beat any fighter on any given night, GSP included IMO. All it takes is one punch, and Lytle hits hard.
I wanna see him rematch Alves, if he beats Howard. I had Lytle winning until the cut.
Arlovski : Kang : GSP : Rampage : Lytle : Huerta : Quarry : Serra : Wandy : Pulver : Alvarez
Shields would hug himself a victory
Lytle vs Condit would be better cuz I’d be a stand up treat but he would still lose that fight cuz Condit would pick his shots and earn the win.
Lytle does have good ground game also so that would be interstin 2 see against shields but he might be on his back the whole fight…bored.

Lytle has had issue with fighters with a strong wrestling base and doesn't really pack a lot of power
A fight with Condit would be good for him but Shields would be too much

everyone else?
imo i see chris having trouble with any top ww who wants to take him to the ground… ie kos, fitch, even hughes as of late.

Hughes beat him a few years ago.
WHile Chris jits and sub game is as solid as anyone’s in the division his guard work ain’t all that and even if it was those guys above don’t get submitted.

Keeps him active. He just beat Hardy, and Kampmann just lost. Thiago’s coming off another loss now and the guy who beat him is probably headed back to the LW division. Swick’s fallen down the ladder too. He could try and call out Shields, but Shields is probably still under heavy consideration for being the new WW contender. If not him, there’s Fitch I suppose. That’s the only real step up that might be available for him in the near future depending on how llong he wants to sit out and exactly what form the title picture takes post-GSP/Kos.
Didn't think of that
Lytle and Fitch are his only options right now.

Jake Ellenburger was recently calling out Shields, so looks like he’s ready and itching for a top fight, but that would be more of a step down for Condit than Lytle IMO, not to mention he already beat him. One other option though I may have overlooked could be Condit taking on the winner of Alves/Howard. Howard amassed a nice streak there before getting derailed by Ellenburger, and Alves’ only recent losses were to the champ and Fitch. The winner of that fight(I think it’s on the GSP/Kos card) is probably in the title mix too.
Step back for Condit IMO

Agreed
But not that big of one that most of us would get mad if they booked it. But think Condits a big higher up the ladder right now as well. But as for calling somebody out, thats a classy way to do it.
The more you educate yourself the more you understand where things come from the more obvious things become and you begin to see lies everywhere. You have to know the truth and seek the truth and the truth will set you free.
Its a lateral move for Condit. Its not really a move up the ladder although Lytle is a very tough out for anybody.

I agree with that assessment.
A victory over Lytle doesn’t really increase his position aside from keeping active, but it’s not necessarily a step down like say rematching Hardy or even Kampmann would be at this point. It’s that or fight Fitch or Shields depending on what Dana decides to do with the WW title contender spot.
Lytle is on a streak too
so that would be a step up for Condit if he was able to keep his streak going

I can't speak for Hardcase but I was referring to name recognition - which seems to be the way to get up the UFC ladder. Lytle does not fit the bill as a "big name."

yeah if I was Condit I wouldn't take it...
does not make sense to go from Hardy down to Lytle.. .I like Lytle but not a smart move for condit to take it…
Lytle's smart
He knows he’ll never win the belt, so he calls out guys that will stand and trade with him that will help get him FOTN.
You can’t be mad at the guy for that.

this fight will not happen....
I’d like to see Condit fight Diego Sanchez….. would be a crazy ass fight
That's the plan at least.
It’s what Diego announced shortly before the fight.
That plan may have changed after whooping Pauly T’s ass.

i think if lytle wins another fight, they should give him a title shot..i mean he deserves it because his on a winning streak, he comes out to fight everytime his in the octagon, his an exciting fighter, he match up well with GSP, and more importantly his in the end of his career. among all the welterweight contenders in the UFC, his the most deserving, not douche-hairbag koscheck, not shields, not condit, not fitch..
I agree except he needs a win over a top ten guy first.

dear dana white,
i would just like you to consider in your heart, that one of your up and coming prospect in the welterweight division namely Jake Ellenburg, should be paired up with Jon Fitch. Stylistically, only 4 man in the current 170 could give Fitch a run for his money, which are:
the current champion GSP (which we fans, dont want to see how he will pound Fitch’s head again),
the current “number one” contender Josh Koscheck (which is he refuses to fight because theyre BFF),
your latest acquisition in Jake Shields who in his last fight gassed like Mark Coleman,
and as i mentioned earlier, Jake Ellenburg. With Ellenburg excellent wrestling, athletisism and heavy hands, i strongly believe he has the ingridients to topple off Fitch and send him back in the line. No more boring contenders, and you get a legitimate threat to GSP’s reign.
Hoping for your kind consideration

Great fight for Lytle, but...
It’s a great fight for Lytle and one I could actually see him winning, but it is a step back for Condit atm. Truthfully though he did just call out another fighter and get his wish so maybe fair is fair and we will get to see this anyways.
This fight being signed would leave me drooling I think. Big fan of both guys.
I'm Inclined to Agree
I like this matchup, but Condit/Shields (which apparently isn’t happening) and Lytle/Kampmann makes more sense to me. Either way, Condit is one big win away from a potential title shot, and Lytle is two big wins away. Happy for Chris. He’s seen his ups and downs.
Shogun's knee will explode for the final time when Rashad shoots for the takedown.
+1 that would be one hell of a fight

Lytle may be able to hang with Condit but
I don’t believe he’s on that level in the UFC WW Division. A fight against Dan Hardy makes more sense.
