Brock Lesnar vs Cain Velasquez odds for UFC 121 in Anaheim

Lesnar-velasquez_medium

Preliminary odds and betting lines have continued to shift for the upcoming UFC 121 main event from the Honda Center on Oct. 23 in Anaheim, California, featuring a titanic heavyweight showdown between division champion Brock Lesnar and undefeated challenger Cain Velasquez.

As the "Cain Train" continues to pick up speed, the yawning chasm that was the betting lines in favor of Lesnar are now nothing more than a crack in the sidewalk.

We're five days away from the promotion's biggest pay-per-view of the year, and Brock Lesnar is now a -135 favorite to Cain Velasquez, the underdog at +105.

Can "Brown Pride" pull even by fight night?

Whatever your play is, be sure to get 'em in early, and also check out the spread on the other combatants throwing hands at UFC 121, like Jake Shields (-220) vs. Martin Kampmann (+175), by clicking here.

doesn't matter who wins Lesnar fight

doesn’t matter who wins the fight because JDS is going to beat either one

LOL Gooooood one!

Anderson Silva is by far the number one P4P king!!! Even when he is losing a fight he still comes back and finishes for the win! GSP dominates the whole fight and still can't finish! LOL

by MBOW on Oct 19, 2010 1:26 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't see that

Too many question marks with JDS

-Couldn’t put Roy Nelson away who managed to be even more static than Akiyama was at the weekend.

-Looked to visibly tire in the second round

-Whats he like off his back?

Either Lesnar or Cain beats him no problem.

by attakdog on Oct 19, 2010 1:49 PM EDT up reply actions

I was totally with you until the last 2 words of your post.

I think JDS gets beat by either Brock or Cain, but I don’t think it will be an easy fight. On the feet he presents a lot of problems and he has proven to have great TDD, so I don’t think anyone can walk right through him.

Not sure about JDS TD defence

he’s fought mostly standup guys in the UFC and hasn’t come across anyone near Cain/Lesnars level of wrestling. Just got a feeling JDS is gonna be like a HW Vitor and top wrestling’s gonna be his Kryptonite. I can see that same look of bewilderment and desperation on his face that Vitor has when he’s taken down for the umpteenth time.

by attakdog on Oct 19, 2010 2:09 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree that he'll lose, just not that it will be easy.

And while their wrestling is far from elite, the TDD he showed against Gonzaga and Nelson was very impressive. I don’t think it’s going to work againt Brock/Cain, but I don’t think they will have an easy win with him either.

Its all very well fending off big country's and gg's half assed td attempts

he wont be able to fend off one of Lesnars /cains imo. Thats why i think it’d be an easy victory for both.

by attakdog on Oct 19, 2010 2:14 PM EDT up reply actions

Cain and Lesnar's takedowns are on a different level

Their takedowns are on a different level than anyone who JDS has fought not to mention that eventhough he claims to have great BJJ Lesnar destroyed Mir on the ground who is a much better BJJ practitioner then most HW eventhough I think he is an idiot.

Watching the JDS/Nelson fight made me really lose confidence in JDS.

i predict lesnar will be a -120 by fight time.

90% of the people were putting money on carwin to when they fought in the last couple of days . lesnar probably ending up -120. i hope it flips to lesnar being the dog. i will certainly double bet the fight.

i will say one thing. when i was watching the spike show on the big upcoming fight velasquez was mentioning his heart alot

well caucausins can have big hearts (in terms of fighting till they are knocked out). african amercans can have mad heart and asians can have heart too. it’s getting kinda ridiculous.

Its something that's pointed out by a lot of broadcasters

There’s a certain style of fighting that’s bred in the latino community. You see it in boxers all the time. that’s all its about. that’s as bad as saying the “Brown Pride” tattoo is putting down other races. Its not. Just like saying a “Mexican fighter automatically has heart” means other races don’t. that’s not what its saying. The fact that I have to even defend it is silly so I’ll stop here.

with that said, those are young ignorant/stupid kids who said that. i for one didn’t agree with the sentiment but loved the outpour of support and love for Cain….that was great to see. Really didn’t think MMA was as prevelant in the latino community til I saw this. LOVED it. Moved me.

watch the you tube video. cain pounds his heart four times.

everytime he mentions heart and pounds his heart it’s like saying brock has no heart. that is not true.

They're not mutually exclusive.

Just because Cain thinks his heart is one of him main attributes doesn’t necessarily imply he thinks Brock has no heart. Brock showed he does in the Carwin fight and Cain even mentioned it on the Countdown show.

I don't see Cain being disrespectul

He had a lot of opportunities during the interview to question Lesnar’s chin but instead he said he was a great champ, that he’s sure he’s working on his weakness (standup) and showed he had the heart of a champion by getting past that 1st round.

It should help no doubt

The question is how much? I think Cain still has better stand up but can lose the stand up if he gets to reckless and even though he stated he wants the fight to go five rounds and he has great conditioning I think is a white lie playing games with Brock head to change Brocks strategy, as Brock has done the same by stating he thinks he can win standing. We all seen Cain fight and his style is not for 5 rounds and if he changes that style it changes who he is as a fighter and something I don’t think he is willing to risk losing by not fighting his game as Brock may stand and bang with Cain for a period of time as soon as a takedown presents itself he will go for it. Cains endurance is over hyped and I think Cains playing that game hopeing that Brock and his camp will believe Cain will come out cautious.

I agree with you here:
I think Cains playing that game hopeing that Brock and his camp will believe Cain will come out cautious

I really think that Cain is going to try to catch Brock being overly aggressive in an attempt to get the fight to the ground and surprise him with a TD attempt of his own. I’d like to see it, if for no other reason than to keep Brock off guard when they’re both on the feet. It would definitely show that AKA learned something from GSP-Koscheck I.

by TheGreg on Oct 19, 2010 2:07 PM EDT up reply actions

I also believe Cain will be looking for the takedown

Brocks a great grappler when on top but has yet proved he can handle being on the bottom(Carwin fight didn’t really tell us anything) and I think both parties feel they will have a huge advanatge if they get top position and the cardio advantage will be won. I see Cain coming out aggressive again tryin to set up a TD rather than go for the KO shot like he did against NOG and if Brock is to worried about the stand up this could work for Cain but I don’t think Brock and his camp are buying what is being said they seemed pretty pissed when Cains camp knocked Brock conditioning.

I think Cains cardio could be over egged.

We’ll sure see what its like when he’s trying to fend off a 280lb behemouth all night. my guess is come rounds 4 0r 5 he aint gonna be hopping around like the energiser bunny.

by attakdog on Oct 19, 2010 2:12 PM EDT up reply actions

You're reading way too much into it

THAT instance in the video I took as Cain saying he loved the affection he was receiving and that he was taking it to heart. That he liked it. that it touched him.

but even if he was pointing out the fact that he has heart, I believe you’re making your own assumptions into it automatically meaning Brock doesn’t have any.

I’m a Cain fan. You won’t see me posting any racial slurs. It makes me sick…Your post bothers me too “Cain’s fans…just as racist as YOU’D EXPECT”…kinda sad. Oh well just thought I would let you know that the vid isn’t representing everyone…

The outgroup homogeneity effect is alive and well with him.

It seems that everyone comprising a group he does not belong to (Cain’s fans) must all be the same.

Unintentional Comedy FTW!!!

The funniest part about your comment Lester….is that you link to youtube, the home of “tough” internet white supremacists. Every second or third comment on youtube is made by someone with more hair than brains. So while you were successful in locating some half-brained dudes mentioning “beat up the white guy”, there are about 400 million other comments on there saying “kill the black guy”. Back and Forth

This bout will undoubtably become a back and forth war! Both fighters have strenghts which their respected opponent can not match, Lesnars amazing power and Velasquez’s great cardio and ability to fine tune the ground and pound. Both were amazing college wretler Lesnar 106-5 Record to Cains 110-10. This is going to be a chess match people don’t expect the fast victory from either.

actually i see a mid to late second round tko by lesnar.

velasquez wants this to be a 5 round fight but that will be his undoing. lesnar will probably fail the first 1 or 2 times in his takedown attempts but eventually he will get what he is looking for. the takedown, the push up against the cage, and then the brutal strikes.

I'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. Glory favors the bold. Chance favors the prepared mind. Luck, well i have that too. University of Utah goes to the Pac-12 conference in 2011. Cains walk out music.

You will be shown
How I’ve become
Indestructible
Determination that is incorruptible
From the other side a terror to behold
Annihilation will be unavoidable
Every broken enemy will know
That their opponent had to be invincible
Take a last look around while your alive
I’m an indestructible
Master of war!!!

Let’s see.
Pea-sized brain: Check.
Out of proportion torso with bony ridges atop an elongated cranium: Check.
Inability to adapt to areas where smarter, more advanced mammals thrive (Canada): Check.
Arms are mostly useless appendages, except for holding down prey: Check.
Facing imminent and absolute extinction (October 23rd): Check.
Yeah, the Brockosaurus is a dangerous beast, to be sure. I’ll let my T-Mex do the back-riding. I call him Cain.

The Cain trains coming baby!!!

Another reason another cause for me to fight
Another fuse uncovered now for me to light
My dedication to all that I’ve sworn to protect
I carry out my orders without a regret
My declaration embedded deep under my skin
A permanent reminder of how it began
No hesitation when I am commanded to strike
You need to know that you’re in for the fight of your life!!

Are you Brock haters the same ones who....

knew that Carwin was gonna win and we just better wait. But now you all are using the whole "Well if Cain doesn’t beat him then JDS surely will. So now what? You all have protected yourselves against this beatdown and secured your early trash talk for at least another 6 months. JDS could not finish Nelson. Did you freakin’ watch the fight? If Cain wins by miracle I will give him props but if Brock wins you all will find a way to get around the ass beatin’ he is gonna give out. Then you will say well we said he minght be Cain but he will never beat JDS. So when he wins both fights what will be next? Well he will never beat Danago. (Just had to get that in). I hope he beats Cain’s butt and the gives him a ride back to Home Depot to wait on his next job. P.S. Danago you sir are a retard.

How and where to bet??

Okay serious question for those that may know. How does 1 bet at these odds at a professional place that actually pays out right away real easy. I’ve got a betus.com account, but all the crap you have to do to collect ur money from them sounds like a pain in the butt. They basically, want to keep a running tab with u to bet more when you’re up- I’m afraid that’s how most of these places are. If ya’ll know where or how I can bet on this fight and collect right after the fight without much hassle- It’d be appreciated.

Yes, I’m betting on Cain… and yes, I have bet with many of my friends betting on Brock. But so far just 5 separate $20 bets. I’m really wanting to up my ante… and heck if I can get odds… even if they are just +105 or whatever… then all the better as long as I don’t have to send all kinds of crap and wait a month to collect. lol
