Hughes has looked good as of late and would pose some serious problems for Hardy. Hughes has solid wrestling and some decent subs. Both of Hardy’s weak points.
I see the sub-escape on GSP as more of a technical lapse on GSP’s part than superior sub-defense on Hardy’s part.

in writing, Hardy comes off as a bit of a douche, but when I watch his interviews I can see he’s simply playing the game (hype) and in between all the trash talk he throws in a bunch of humility (such as admitting that his wrestling and bjj sucks). Seems like a likable character, but I’m pulling for Carlos in this one.

I'm over-rating Swick
I’ve over-rated Swick because he’s accomplished a lot with a medial condition that prevents him from eating properly. You’re right he’s got loses but I think he’s got talent and with the medical condition under control I think he’ll be a force. Admittedly that is unproven but my list is based on talent, not a win-loss record.

If all the players had medical conditions that prevented them from eating in previous years and if they were still highly competative even though they could not eat and if after years of dealing with the condition, they finally had it properly diganosed and could begin to deal with it. The only thing lucky about Alves getting that fight was that Hughes didn’t refuse to fight him when he didn’t make weight.
Deuce I agree completely, one of my pet hates in MMA is the idea that you can win by luck. Unless someone’s leg snaps in a fluke accident (Corey Hill, J-Mac) or someone is gifted a decision or a bad stoppage then there is no luck. There is no such thing as a lucky punch and it doesn’t half annoy me when people talk down about wins by using that daft term.

Hathaway isn’t even in your top 16 despite being undefeated and coming off dominant wins over Diego (your #10) as well as Ricky Story, Hughes is ranked too high considering that his only major win since losing the WW title was over Almeida and Swick shouldn’t be in the top 10 nevermind #5 (having an eating disorder hindering your progress is not a reason to be a top 5 WW). I’ll admit that the rest are debatable and I don’t have a problem with but any list lacking Hathaway at this point and having Hughes and Swick in the top 5 is flawed.

Like his brother he’s started to bulk up so he can’t make the lower weight anymore, and if he tries then he’ll just end up too scrawny and dehydrated to do anything. Marcus has looked very bad since losing to Hardy though, I wouldn’t be surprised if he retires now (in fact I called Diaz beating him into retirement).

I come to the conclusion yanks love to hate the uk fighters.
Its like you get a buzz off it, out of all the fighters in the UFC you think Bizz and Hardy talk shit and dont know what their on about? Get a fucking grip man. The amount of fighters from the US that talk out their ass is massive Whats impressive is that out of 2 training camps in the whole of the uk these 2 have made it this far. Harfdy and Bizz will boyj win, no dout about it.

London Shootfighters have some good fighters including Hathaway and Zaromskis, they may not get the press that Wolfslair or Rough House do but they must be doing something right as John is always well prepared and is getting better all of the time.
