Strikeforce salaries: Nick Diaz earns $50,000, Marloes Coenen rakes in $3,000 for championship wins

MMAmania.com (www.mmamania.com) has received the fighter payouts for Strikeforce: "Diaz vs Noons II" from the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) for the Showtime event held at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, on Oct. 9.
As expected, Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz was one of the top earners of the night. The foul-mouthed fight monger banked a cool $50,000 for outpointing bitter rival K.J. Noons ($10,000).
Joining him at the 50k mark was former Lightweight Champion Josh Thomson. "The Punk" was also awarded fifty grand for squeaking past promotion newcomer Gesias "JZ" Cavalcante ($40,000).
Also racking up some decent coin (not really) is new 135-pound champion Marloes Coenen. "Rumina" took home Sarah Kaufman's arm as well as a $3,000 payday.
The former champ was awarded $20,000 in defeat.

James Terry $3,000 ($1,500 to show, $1,500 to win)

Terry defeated Marshall by unanimous decision 30-27, 30-27, 30-26
Tyron Woodley $15,000 ($7,500 to show, $7,500 to win)
Andre Galvao $10,000
Woodley defeated Galvao by KO Round 1: 1:48
Sarah Kaufman $20,000
Marloes Coenen $3,000 ($2,000 to show, $1,000 to win)
Coenen defeated Kaufman by armbar Round 3: 1:59

Machida is the only quality fighter Rashads really fought and we seen what happened.
Griffin is poor, Page weighed 251lbs 8 weeks before their fight and never fought or trained in the preceding 13 months. Chucks just not the same so maybe Shads had a lucky run in that respect. Hw was poor against Bisping and shouldve lost to Tito too, He’s now getting to fight a Shogun coming off his third knee surgery and what will be an almost year lay off.

not only has suga made me money he is one of my favorite fighters and a gentleman outside the ring unlike some of the goons i’ve seen. maybe rua needs to drink more milk and take some vitamins. it’s not rashads fault people have surgeries or come in unprepared.

I don’t think Shad is a gentleman outside the ring. I seen him on TUF2 and when he coached. I’ve also seen him interviewed many times and his appearances on MMA Live. He seems like an arrogant prick to me. But he, who cares, at least he’s won you some money tho…

How much were fighters in the UFC getting when the UFC was as old as Strikeforce is?
And I agree wholeheartedly 100% absolutely that Coenen got screwed monetarily. But why you chose to compare her salary with the UFC is confusing – especially since the UFC doesn’t even have female fighters.
So yes, when I see people compare something to the UFC without any perspective, I tend to think they are a bit nuthuggerish.

I presume she got paid such a low amount officially to avoid losing her actual wages to tax, they did that the last time she fought as they did when Gegard got paid 2k. KJ should have been paid a lot more than 10k for main eventing the show though.
