KJ Noons "x-rays revealed a broken jaw and a fractured left hand, which came in the first and second rounds respectively," according to SI.com. Enough to make you clamor for a rubber match?

what the hell, I was really excited to see KJ own Diaz but… yeah. I think it was partially his own fault I mean long hear, and getting it out of his eyes all the time? that was ridiculous.

some people started to ask how well would Diaz match against GSP – I laugh at that. Diaz ain’t much of a wrestler whereas GSP is one of the best wrestlers in MMA

If Diaz would have used the knees a little more he would have knocked KJ out

KJ’s head movement was retarded, he had his hands down and had his head was down by Nick’s waist several times

by xquisitewretch on Oct 10, 2010 2:35 PM EDT up reply actions

I got rocked a few times and given his background I did expect better head movement and foot work

It was a good fight though. No backing down from either of them. I was a bit puzzled by Nick less than half assed ‘take down attempts’ if we can even call them that.

by D_Smith on Oct 10, 2010 2:54 PM EDT up reply actions

seriously

doesnt he train with Melendez? he definitely needs to work on his wrestling

by xquisitewretch on Oct 10, 2010 2:57 PM EDT up reply actions

As much as I can't stand KJ, it's impressive for him to fight through that.

And Diaz sure seems to do a lot of damage for a guy ridiculed for his “pitter patter punches”

I'm referring to what many of his critics say.

And “punches in bunches” is VItor Belfort, get with the program ;-)

Didn't take bunches to floor Lindland and Franklin

Of course, neither has the best chin in the world, but out-cold is out-cold.

by RaginAsian on Oct 10, 2010 4:15 PM EDT up reply actions

how can you question franklins chin?

other than the belfort KO, he had to take a lot of Andersons punches knees and kicks before he went down. silva, liddel and henderson all connected big on franklin and he got hurt but not KOed and all those guys hit real hard. granted, i do forget exactly how macheeta beat him, but still, give franklin’s chin some respect.

KJ Noons is a tough motherfucker

A lightweight doing what Robbie Lawler and Marius Zaromskis couldn’t do in winning two rounds against Diaz and tagging him repeatedly.
You can hate KJ, but he’s a badass.

Anderson Silva will fall via brutal Republican dry-humping.

by Johnny WF on Oct 10, 2010 2:41 PM EDT reply actions

KJ is def a top fighter

I honestly think he would beat Edgar he’s a better striker imo and has very good TDD and solid ground/scrambling skills. Nick is a legit cesar gracie BB and he couldn’t do anything to a rocked KJ even from side control

by frosnt1 on Oct 10, 2010 3:24 PM EDT up reply actions

He didn't want to win on the ground

Diaz’s desire to stand and trade was his choice. He expressed his want to stand and bang with Noons. And he did really well against a pro-boxer.

Diaz should have taken it to tehe ground but I’m glad he stood his ground.

by ntvmma on Oct 10, 2010 3:33 PM EDT up reply actions

Well, Diaz TRIED to get him to the ground

Just didn’t work.

I disagree.

Gurgel is a reject and Edgar is the UFC LW champ.

Edgar is faster, smarter and lighter.

Edgar would out speed KJ and take him down all day.

by ntvmma on Oct 10, 2010 5:17 PM EDT up reply actions

Edgar is also much smaller.

and the only thing he’s better at is the wrestling. if only these type of fights could happen

ballz to the wallz !

by RoBerto. on Oct 10, 2010 5:25 PM EDT up reply actions

So what! BJ was bigger and Edgar beat him 2x

And yes, I wouldn’t mind seeing Noon’s in the UFC.

Noons/Gomi

Noons/BJ

Noons/ Guillard<<>> Well I’m not confident about this one. I’m pretty sure Melvin would be trying take Noons down all day.

WIth the way he’s fighting now. I believe Melvin would try and take KJ down.

Remember Melvin’s training with Jackson now, and we all know what type of fighters are coming out of that camp.

And this is the UFC so Guillard is not only going to rely on his striking ability, he’s going to try and take Noons down all day.

Theres no point in risking a potential title shot because of pride.

by ntvmma on Oct 11, 2010 1:02 AM EDT up reply actions

melvin never goes for the takedown

just because fighters train at jacksons doesnt mean they only go for takedowns. how long has keith jardean been there? I dont think ive ever seen him shoot EVER. what about guys like Joey V, just becasue he has some of the best wtrestlers doesnt mean all his fighters go for the TD

Diaz was just mixing up. He was displaying to Noons that this is MMA, not boxing. But also proving that He could take Noons in the cage or boxing.

by ntvmma on Oct 10, 2010 5:14 PM EDT up reply actions

I dont think so

Frankie would edge out a win against KJ. Frankie has the speed and wrestling over him. Only thing KJ is better is his striking. Sort of like with BJ. What’s up with Hawaiians with J’s in their names?! lol

by daftshadow on Oct 10, 2010 3:47 PM EDT up reply actions

you can’t compare KJ’s striking to BJ’s. KJ striking is on a higher level and he actually moves forward throwing hooks/uppercuts/powerpunches, BJ is standing on the same spot throwing out jabs in his fights.

All the noons nuthuggers still won’t let go. And Noons beating Edgar?! Getting deep in here.

Diaz has some pretty sick boxing skills, i never really liked him or his brother before but there both pretty damn good

by mindninja on Oct 10, 2010 3:46 PM EDT reply actions

That's pretty impressive...

I think Noons deserves some due for him lasting 5 rds with two fractured bones. He proved that he is tough at WW, but I think he is much more dangerous at LW. I’d like to see Noons against Aoki or Melendez after their possible rematch. Both would be a good test of Noon’s submission/wrestling defense.

Stylistically I think Gil would be a bad match-up for KJ

He is a cardio machine with great wrestling and BJJ. KJ’s boxing is a lot better than Gil’s but if El Nino fights like he has been lately and mixes up his brawling with his wrestling then he’d be tough for KJ to counter. I doubt that KJ could last the pace of a 5 round fight with Melendez and Gil’s chin is too good for him to be KO’d. It would be a very good fight though.

KJ is a big LW but id say his gas tank is better at 170

With that said will be great to see KJ back at 155 they should bring Satoru Kitaoka to fight him or some other top LW from Japan to get him back in the mix at 155 or maybe someone from Bellator.

Noons was just one haircut away from winning that fight

It was a good close Fight. If I was diazo I wouldn’t be satisfied with that performance.

Big fan of the Diaz brothers...

Hey KJ have fun drinking through a straw for the next 2 months. A broken jaw is a painful injury so I’lll give props to KJ for still going if it did happen in the 1st round. Still glad Diax won
