UFC Fight Night 21: Sean Sherk vs Clay Guida possible for March 21
Just weeks after winning "Fight of the Year" at the 2009 World MMA Awards, Clay Guida has been matched up in a fight that could very well be one of the best of 2010.
"The Carpenter," who has become one of the UFC's more popular fighters because of his relentless attack and never say die attitude, will likely take on Sean "The Muscle Shark" Sherk at UFC Fight Night 21 in Denver, Colo., according to NWItimes.com.
Sherk had to drop off UFC 108 on Jan. 2 after receiving a nasty gash across his forehead. "The Muscle Shark" last fought at UFC 98, getting dominated on the feet en route to unanimous decision defeat at the hands Frankie Edgar.
Guida has made a name for himself with his high-energy performances ... and the fans love to see him fight. He is on a two-fight skid; however, he still manages to get a fight with the former lightweight champion. Guida will certainly look for a better outcome than his fights with Kenny Florian and Diego Sanchez.
UFC Fight Night 21 has yet to be officially announced, but this lightweight bout will likely be featured on the Versus telecast. Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for breaking news and updates surrounding UFC Fight Night 21.

Not a fan of either
Both are one dimensional wrestlers who can’t strike and never submit anyone, Sherk’s the better wrestler and both have great chins and cardio. Huggie is only exciting when he’s getting beaten up so this will probabaly end up being one of his boring fights like the Danzig one. This is guaranteed to go to a decision, I expect Sherk to get the nod unless he doesn’t use his wrestling.
"Anderson Silva is the best fighter on the planet...any Anderson Silva fight that is on, people should be buying that PPV, not because he’s my fighter but you know what, he to me is like the Muhammad Ali of MMA...the UFC has been around since 1993, nobody (else) has 10 consecutive wins in the UFC. Anderson has had 10 fights in the UFC, only 1 has ever gone to a decision."

At least sherk can somewhat strike
Guida’s standup is probly the worst at LW. I still don’t see why people think he’s exciting. Being gritty enough to dance and hug while the other guy runs a train on you just don’t excite me i guess. We’ll finally see him flailing around on the bottom. Maybe he still intends on relentlessly dryhumping off his back.

actually sherk can strike, technically he seems very solid
but physically his T-rex arms are what kill him.

True
And he needs to mix it up with the TDs and the striking
I watched the BJ/Sherk fight the other day. BJ obviously destroyed him as he does to everyone in LW, but comparing that fight to the Diego and Florian fight. Sherk looked like the only one to be getting some degree of success. He actually landed some punches and did ok in the exchanges. He never had BJ in trouble but from BJ’s recent LW performances I think it was Sherk who performed the best against him
i've seen that fight a bunch of times.
i have to agree with you. Sherk wasn’t necessarily “finished” by BJ either. The ref decided to stop it in between rounds. Not saying Sherk can/would beat BJ, but you have a point in saying that he’s hung in with BJ the best. If Sherk wasn’t so stupid maybe the rematch would be a bit more competitive.

His striking is terrible
He’s been outboxed by BJ and Edgar and compared to his wrestling his striking is still very poor. He has no reach so is always going to get picked apart by anyone with decent boxing and has no power at all in his hands. The only LW that he’d have a hope of beating on the feet is Guida, as his striking is nonexistent.

Ive wanted to see this fight for a long time
Typically Im not a fan of wrestlers, and Sherk is at the top of my fighters disliked list, but this is a fight I want to see. Both have endless gas tanks, and to me Sherk is a less explosive (striking) version of Diego. This fight should be entertaining, regardless that it will undoubtedly end in a decision. Want Guida to win, think Sherk probably will
I’m kind of excitied for this fight too. Guida seems to be outclassed here, which means he will lose, which means ill be happy. War Muscle Shark!

but he always pushes the pace and puts on entertaining fights. ur crazy ashegam.

ufn 21 is getting huge
vera vs jones ,rumble vs doomsday, sherk vs gudia not a huge fan of gudia hate sherk but should be a good fight but damn sherk really has fallen since losing the title
Finally!
Not that this is a clash of two of the best fighters, but it is a great fight between styles.
Both are known for great stamina so the pace so should crazy.
We all know what Guida is going to do. Will Sherk mix it up? He needs to if he wants to win. Sherks striking is sound but that Tyrannosaurus reach of his is the limiting factor. I’d love to see Sherk do some old fashion GNP.
surprised by all the guida hate
I know wrestlers don’t put on the most exciting fights but “the carpenter” is usually an exception. Great chin, great cardio, his submission defense is respectable.Where’s the Love??
