UFC 111: Matt Brown vs. Ricardo Almeida set for March 27 in N.J.
UFC 111 is off to a great start in terms of match ups, with two championship bouts to headline the evening. Now the organization is looking to add a nice supporting cast to the March 17 event.
The casting call has already begun, as Matt Brown and Ricardo Almeida have been added to the bill, according to ESPN's "MMA Live." The bout is a welterweight showdown between two welterweights at the middle of the divisional pack.
Brown is coming off a technical knockout victory over The Ultimate Fighter winner James Wilks at UFC 105: "Couture vs. Vera." He has an unimpressive professional record (11-7), but has better results (4-1) where it counts most inside the Octagon.
This fight will be Almeida's return to the eight-walled cage after being forced out of his UFC 106 bout with Jon Fitch. "Cachorrao's" last appearance culminated with a unanimous decision victory over Kendall Grove at UFC 101: "Declaration." He holds a professional record of 11-3.
UFC 111 features a welterweight championship bout between title holder Georges St. Pierre and Dan Hardy, along with an interim title championship between heavyweights Shane Carwin and Frank Mir.

Good fight. Brown has really impressed me lately. I image despite his vast improvements the gound game will be a large disadvantage to him, but I don’t know….I could see him pulling this one off.
Good news that fight.
I believe I’m gonna enjoy 111 more than 100. Fantastic card.
Alves-Fitch. (I have no clue how that’s gonna play out but I fear for Fitch, I didn’t like what i saw when he fought Pierce)
Mir vs Carwin (Mir appears like one of the most motivated fighters out there. Because of that I think he will take it)
Hardy vs St-Pierre (I bet my house it doesn’t go to a decision, would you like a shot at my dog too? No problem.)
and now Brown vs Almeida (UFC 111 FTW)
Matts been impressing me with every prformance, and I can’t say almeida has. Count me on Team Immortal for this one. WAR BROWN!!!

Yep... Team Immortal it is!
Almeida seems inconsistent since his long lay off way back.. Almeida can be very dangerous, but The Immortal can’t be destroyed!

War Brown!
Matt Brown is the man! As long as he can stay out of Almeida’s Submissions i think he will pull it off. This is a decent match up…..
leaning with riccardo
Brown has the better stand up, but I think Riccardo can get it to the ground and end it. 2nd round triangle choke.
pwilson
Almeida all the way.
Brown is a tough mofo but so is Ricardo. Brown is simply no match for Almeida on the ground and they both got similar stand up (average at best).
I meant to add: almeida and brown having similar stand up skills? No way man. The only thing almeida would have on the feet would be a fake shot then overhand or something. Rgardless, brown has a definitive advantage on the feet, and I’d say he will hold his own on the ground, seeing as stun gun and wilks were supposed to have an advantage there in those fights.

Matt the man of many ass beatings Brown by TKO!!
Brown shud really be 12-6 he got robbed by stun gun!
Brown is one of my top 5 favorite fighters
But this is a tough match-up for him. I think in the end it will come down to how does Ricardo handle the weight cut. If he has good conditioning throughout, he should win the decision. If he tires starting in the 2nd, Brown will finish him
War Brown
Great fight
Brown is the man, he looked superb against Wilks and proved that he can survive tight submissions from a ground specialist. Almeida’s a different class to Wilks on the ground but he’s not been that great since his return to MMA and it’ll be interesting to see how he deals with the cut to 170. Brown definitely has the advantage in the striking and cardio but if Ricardo can get this to the ground then I think that he’ll submit him, though his BJJ hasn’t been as effectively used as I would have liked (I can’t believe that Kendall Grove of all people nearly submitted Ricardo) it’s still world class. UFC 111 looks like a sick card, that should make up for the dreadful UFC 78 card.
"Anderson Silva is the best fighter on the planet...any Anderson Silva fight that is on, people should be buying that PPV, not because he’s my fighter but you know what, he to me is like the Muhammad Ali of MMA...the UFC has been around since 1993, nobody (else) has 10 consecutive wins in the UFC. Anderson has had 10 fights in the UFC, only 1 has ever gone to a decision."

Almeida too good, but...
Don’t underestimate Brown! Brown is one tough mofo who has never heard of “giving up” ! The guy keeps going and going! This fight is about td defense, jab, keep gassing the guy. I see Almeida dominating the first round and maybe the half of the 2nd round, but I see Brown punishing him for the rest of the fight and maybe win a close decision.
Even if we don’t see Brown win, theres one thing we’ll see for sure! That’s an exciting fight!
Warrr BROWN!!!
This is a great fight
I’ve counted Brown out before and can’t do it again. The guy is tough as nails. I say he takes it.
The one and only Smitty...
