I've seen many of them!

But, I’ll still be watching! There were a lot of great fights in the Pride days! I do, however, prefer the cage to a ring anyday!

I see it differently...

I think the ring makes the fighters fight…. While I enjoy the G&P action the cage provides, I feel fights in a ring are more exiting for the most part…. Who’s with me!!!??

Not me.

Much better action inside a cage. Rings are for boxers. Head kicks to downed opponents and the ring are the only things I didn’t like about Pride.

Frank Mir packed 30+ pounds of solid muscle onto his body in five months. Why hasn't anyone called him out for steroid use? Is it because he never wrestled for Vince McMahon? I give Mir credit for his taste in strippers/wives, not his fighting skills or his personality.

now...

Im on the other side, I loved the kicks, stomps to downed opponents. It should be the sport of fighting, and in a fight u stomp and kick when and where ever you can. I dont mind not having um anymore, but if they keep getting rid of certain strikes like 12- 6 elbows its not gonna b the sport of fighting any more….. and I am a much bigger fan of judging the fight as a whole or devise a whole new system cuz this one is broken.

Im the total opposite Paul

I like the UFC rules. 12-6 elbows are killers, head kicks and stomps to downed opponents puts losing fighters on the shelf longer, the ring stops the action to often and steroids should be tested for.

I know with these rules it doesn’t seem like a real fight, but this isn’t a fight, it is a sporting event. Just like other sports have rules to protect the participants, so too does MMA. A lot of people think they should change the rules to judge the entire fight, it is nonsense. This isn’t a fight, it is a sport. Did boxing ever change their rules? No one seems to think boxing needs to change the way they score a bout.

I think

you got me wrong. Im not sayin im for the “blood sport” aspect. Im jus hopin they dont regulate it too much so it can b more mainstream. And until the “10 – 9” scoring system can b improved on or a whole new system can be brought into play.. I think scoring the fight as a whole works better….

Side note:
The lil thing about Mir you have down there, is way wrong. Im a pro/am body builder, and it is so so so possible to gain that much in 5 months. Epically since he went from a bodybuilding style of weight training to a power lifting style.

Sorry I was clear as to who I meant by some of those things.

I didn’t mean you. I meant a lot of the other posters on this site. I don’t agree about the whole fight scoring thing, but that is ok, a lot of people share your opinion.

On your side note:

I’m not saying it isn’t possible to gain 30 pounds of muscle in 5 months(it was more like 4 and a half). What I am saying is…where are all the guys who talk shit about Brock and his alleged steroid use? Brock has always been huge and is getting smaller, but where are those same steroid accusers when Mir starts to actually show signs of use? They only talk shit about Brock because he was a wrestler. I just wanted people to call out people for juicin’ when they actually look like they could be doing it, not because they are jealous of a naturally big guy.

I’m with you, rings are much better for actual fighting, the octagon is made for wrestlers getting takedowns against the cage. My real problem however is the scoring system not the octagon.

sometimes the beauty is in the attempt.

I agree with you, Paul...

I’ve always liked the ring better than the cage. Also, just the atmosphere at PRIDE events exceeded any UFC I’ve ever seen—even after all this time and all these events. A lot of fights in the octagon (so funny/corny just to say or even type) come out very boring. However, I will say that I hate the scoring and not the cage. The rules favor a boring wrestler in the US.

Canadians...

any idea if this will be on SportsNet or The Score too…in HD?

"Me and Michael are like Mozart...and Mozart's friend."

"No, I'm like Butch Cassidy..."

"You mess with Mozart, you're gonna get a bullet in your head. Courtesy of Butch Cassidy."

#1 BRAWL OF ALL TIME!!

even the stare down was crazy!Happy 2 see the old pride fights back on Tv! I miss the pride rules, soccer kicks, knees to the head, stomps, 10% out of yur check for lack of action! I wish the UFC wud do a gran prix like the old days. Imagine the UFC doing a grand prix with all the w8 classes. That wud be the shit!

I'm for Pride rules all the way and I have to say I prefer the ring for the MMA fights too.

Pride rocked!!! And I also would love to see an open weight class grand prix(every now and again) as d*locc posted, that would make an awesome event!!.

I"m no Ned Flanders punk!!
