Sick as in good or sick as in bad?

Hey, I love Randy. In fact, being about my age, he is my (and Joe Rogan’s) hero. But come on, Randy is 17-10 and Coleman is 16-9. How is that worthy of being the main event? I realize Marquardt vs Sonnen has title implications, but neither one of them has much of a chance of beating the Spider. I want to see AS fighting in the LHW or, better yet, the HW division, not one of these guys. Half the guys on the main card are coming off of losses. I will buy this PPV because it is better than nothing, but I am starting to look forward to Strikeforce events more than UFC shows lately.

by DrPepper on Jan 6, 2010 1:24 AM EST up reply actions

Dont under why Sonnen gets to fight Marquardt

I know Sonnen was technically the mw champ in the wec. But he lost to maia if Im not mistaken. Nate destroyed maia. And nate should be fighting for the title now that Hendo is gone. How does Sonnen get such a big opportunity?

by terribleone on Jan 6, 2010 1:19 AM EST reply actions

Who else should he fight?

Maia is sitting at the 4 spot, who got crushed by Nate. Sonnen crushed Okami who was supposed to get his opportunity soon. So Sonnen is the only guy left. He is the 6th ranked MW in the world right now. Anderson still has Belfort before he dispatches Nate again. I always though Nate did more then Hendo in the MW div. to earn the rematch but apparently rematches were not how Anderson wanted to use his last few fights and who could blame him. He cut through Nate and beat Hendo.

Sonnen has a stand up game which is nonexistent for Maia. I think Sonnen will be a lot more competetive then he is getting credit for against Nate. His wrestling could cause some trouble for Nate, though I think Nate’s stand up maybe to much for him….

by Da Monkey on Jan 6, 2010 7:59 AM EST up reply actions

and on a side note.

ufc 111 will more than make up for the last few weaker cards.

by terribleone on Jan 6, 2010 1:25 AM EST reply actions

Vincenwc aka Dana white? :)

Well. I think it’s because Marquardt whanted to fight sooner rather than later. And Sonnen had a great fight last time against Okami. And he’s a warrior, so could be a great fight.
You can’t really blame anyone for being submitted by Maia… is a god on the ground and that knockout against Marquardt was a fluke in my opinion. He jumped right into that. That fight on the ground would’ve been a different story, I think.

Randy vs the hammer

Will be a good fight Because they both suck on the same level, I am a huge Couture fan, met him on several occasions Great guy.

Sonnen has what it takes to beat Nate “the great”

I’m tired of the Mike Swick hype

Maia takes an arm home

Serra and trigg = could care less

I cant believe all the ungrateful spoilt breast fed bitches on here complaining about the fight card and so called irrelevant fights. There is nothing wrong with this card, unless your one of the new breed 2009+ MMA fan thats crawled out from underneath your cubby house one day and watched Spike Tv on your daddy’s lap and now you think you know everything.
How about you sit the f@ck down enjoy the main card because Serra v Trigg and Randy v Coleman as fights long time followers of the sport want to see. It’s the fights which make the show not the fighters or their unofficial ranking.

any with Tito is irrelevant.

I think that fight is stupid too. But damn I love watching someone punch Tito in the head. Tito is very much irrelevant and considering some of the fighters the UFC has cut in the past 2 years Tito dont deserve a contract. I think there is still some fights for Chuck.

Why did Joe say he wants to see Phil Davis vs. Jon Jones?

Just because they are both athletic black dudes? Nice debut for Davis but I think Jones is much more well rounded. I say put Davis against someone like Matt Hamill.

No kidding, still war HAMMER!!!

Also about passed out when i saw that beltran beat rolles. Rolles was -700 at some places. That one hits hard because if i wasn’t such a pussy i could have made the money. The stylistic matchup was there. But short notice made me back out.

I still dont like the dude but he made me eat my own shit! Not a big fan of the 15 minutes of GNP, without the ability to ever finish a fight, but he won the fight!

by Da Monkey on Feb 7, 2010 12:06 AM EST reply actions

he's got nothing for the spider.

Yea he’ll take him down but what then get subbed? He’ll have 5 rds to do it while sonnen will have to survive 25 minutes of the most brilliant standup in MMA or the triangle/RNC. I’ll go flying knee puts him out as he shoots in.

Anderson will actually have the opp. to sub him...

He actually has jits off of his back…For a Black belt in Jits…Nate is horrible of his back…I just started taking jits, 3 months now and I have not even started learning anything that is not off my back. How can a black belt have so little guard work?

SONNEN IS STILL A BUM

NATE IS JUST A NEW BUM, Anderson Silva has this thing called footwork and he wouldn’t just plant his feet and try to catch him with all or nothing shots.. SILVA BY ABSOLUTE BEAST KO, SONNEN IS A FUCKING BUM!

by BlaiseBlaise on Feb 7, 2010 12:11 AM EST reply actions

Simple concept, he’s not that skilled. That’s why I’m “Hatin” his skills aren’t up to par, he won’t be able to score those takedowns agaisnt Silva because he’s only capable of walking through the front door with a prayer to be going in on someone as dumb as nate who just stands their and tries to land a shot that severly compromises his position.. Footwork and striking in UFC is still wack as hell(Silva,GSP,Penn,Machida, Belfort excluded), Show them what I’m talking about Silva, knock this sonnen “only leans to his right and prays not to get hit” bum out. Thank you.

by BlaiseBlaise on Feb 7, 2010 12:16 AM EST up reply actions

so your basicly saying that every middleweight fighter not named anderson silva is a bum?

of course, that's all true, just don't think Randy handed out the worst ass whoopin ever to Coleman since Fedor.

He just beat him,in a one sided fight and easily put him to sleep. That was it.He got a black eye and choked out and Randy fell on him lol.

by tap or snap bons on Feb 7, 2010 1:07 AM EST up reply actions

He's at least been competitive in his last two fights

Bonnar and Shogun aren’t chumps and Coleman took them to war; I think Randy deserves a little credit for putting a serious beat down on the guy. That is the worst one sided beating Coleman has taken since Fedor, I can’t name a fight where he got completely dominated like that since his pride days.

haha,not hatin at all.

I honestly thought Coleman looked shit.He looked so stiff, slow and not interested tbh.He gassed easily and I think it only went to round 2 was because of Randy!.If it was anyone else tonight,be it Bonnar or Shogun or even tito ffs,it would not have past the 1st round.

by tap or snap bons on Feb 7, 2010 1:23 AM EST up reply actions

That's what I'm talkin about

If Coleman had fought Bonnar or Shogun he would’ve shot; no fear, he would’ve muscled them right to the ground. And if it had been someone else and they put the same beat down on Coleman and stopped him in the 2nd round, I guarantee people wouldn’t be trying to belittle their win as much as they are just cause it was Randy who beat him up.

i never criticized randy

and most ppl here aren’t criticizing randy. all im sayin is that paulo thiago’s submission was much more impressive and deserved sub of the night.

Randy did well, but he was supposed to give coleman an ass-whoppin. it wasn’t like coleman was much competition. did you even watch it? coleman looked awful, as i had expected.

Tito interviewing Babalu: "I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight, what you saw, in the ring."

by Two_Words on Feb 7, 2010 1:03 AM EST up reply actions

He looked aweful cause he couldn't shoot

Any other fighter he would’ve shot in on, it was a waste of time to shoot from the outside against Randy and he knew it; he never got the chance to set up a shot. ANY OTHER FIGHTER would’ve given up a TD to Coleman, Shogun did, Bonnar did, he couldn’t shoot on Couture. That’s why he looked like garbage.

I think people are complaining...

cuz Coleman looked super old, never even attempted fighting back, and even at the opening of the round looked like crap on his legs. Maybe Randy deserves credit, but Coleman was not a game opponent tonight at all, until Tito started talking trash. He had looked much more competetive recently.

by Da Monkey on Feb 7, 2010 1:09 AM EST up reply actions

He looked more competitive against opponents with different skill sets

Yea his stand up is garbage but that’s no secret; you take away his ground game and he’s going to look like crap. It was the style of fight he was up against, if the guy can’t take a fighter down, he’s done. It would be completely useless to shoot in on Couture from the outside and his striking sucks too much to set up a shot with combinations. I agree, he’s a one trick pony but he’s damn good at that one trick and put a lot of other guys through a much tougher fight because of it.
