The Tennessee Athletic Commission (TAC) today confirmed that 4 of the 22 competitors who were tested for illegal/banned substances after competing at UFC 107: "Penn vs. Sanchez" on Dec. 12 have all passed with flying colors.
Current UFC lightweight champion BJ Penn as well as challenger Diego Sanchez and welterweights Jon Fitch and Mike Pierce were all screened for performance enhancers such as steroids and drugs of abuse like cocaine and marijuana, among others.
Results from these battery of tests all returned negative.
The fighters mentioned above were randomly selected. However, athletic commissions typically test the main event participants and fight night winners, as well as those who have failed drug tests in the past.
UFC 107: "Penn vs. Sanchez" featured a sensational performance from lightweight division champion BJ "The Prodigy" Penn as he successfully defended his title against number one division contender Diego "Nightmare" Sanchez in dominating fashion.
Former two-time heavyweight champion Frank Mir began his quest for a third title when he submitted Cheick Kongo in the co-featured fight of the night.
