Jay Hieron vs. Joe Riggs (170-pound limit)

Round one: N/A

Round two: Riggs and Heiron come out tentative, feeling each other out,. Riggs goes for a takedown, but Heiron eventually reverses and works some ground and pound from inside “Diesel’s” guard. He lands a big left. Riggs is covering up nicely. He eventually works his way to his feet just as the round comes to a close. Heiron controlled much of the action on the ground, but it was far from a thrilling three minutes.

Round three: Both fighters pawing, looking for an angle. Riggs drills Heiron and he’s wobbly. He immediately goes for a takedown to avoid damage and Riggs just misses with a big knee that could have been a game changer. Heiron manages to get on top of Riggs and is clearly getting using the time to get his wits back. He’s doing nothing. Just hugging — no punches. Riggs can’t do anything because he’s on his back pinned against the fence. Finally the referee stands them up. No Heiron lands a big left that drops Riggs. Crowd goes nuts. Heiron back again on top. Riggs works furiously to get out fro underneath. Once again not much action from Heiron on top. Riggs appears to be looking for a kimura , but he lets it go. Referee stands them up as the final seconds tick down. Both fighters, bloodied and beaten, share a hug inside the middle of the cage before heading back to their corners to await the official decision.

Final result: Jay Heiron defeats Joe Riggs via unanimous decision

Hieron didn’t look too impressive I think Diaz would handle him easy
