MMA Quick Quote: Bobby Lashley wants a heavyweight title shot
"Well, it's one of two things. Either they're going to allow me do it the way I wanna do it and build, or they're going to give me a title shot. Either or. I would like a title shot. I guess it's Overeem, he's the one who has the title right now. Him or Fedor, whoever. I wanted to take my time to build up but everyone's pushing me to get bigger and better fights so if I'm going to get bigger and better fights let's go for the best."
Undefeated Strikeforce heavyweight Bobby Lashley (5-0) talks to the gang at Showtime Sports regarding his "Miami" win over Wes Sims on the main card of the January 30 event. "The Dominator" was too much for the short-notice opponent, finishing the TUF 10 contestant via first round TKO. Lashley wants to continue his slow build to the upper echelon of heavyweights but feels pressured by outside influences to go for the gold. Is he going to pose a legitimate threat to the promotion's top heavyweights? Or will his goose get cooked by the likes of Fedor and Overeem?

Was anyone actually impressed with his win?
sigh
Not me
Wes sims looked terrible.

It's Time
Please, please give this guy a real fighter next time. Rogers, Bigfoot, or even AA. And, no, he doesn’ t deserve a title shot.
Agreed
Bobby needs to fight someone decent, Grim or Big Foot would both be smart opponents at this point or Del Rosario who he was supposed to face in the first place. At this point fighting the likes of Wes Sims and Bob Sapp is a waste of time for Lashley, he needs to face someone that will test him but at the same time it should be someone who won’t destroy him. He’s nowhere near ready for Fedor or Overreem and would get destroyed by both of them plus he’s done nothing to earn those big fights either.
"If I could change my name what would it be? Jesus"
Tito Ortiz (seriously...)
Lashley is a piece of crap who doesn’t want decent opponents or even to be a full-time fighter, but he’l keep cashing in on his name.
The weather is here, I wish you were beautiful
who doesn’t want to be a full time fighter? maybe it’s because mma is a piece of shit and you can’t fight full time because u don’t make any money.
fresh like uhh.
Who's pressuring him that matters?
I’d like to know. He doesn’t need/want a title shot yet. C’mon.
"Him or Fedor, whoever."
Yeah! Sure, give him a fight with Fedor…that’ll teach him to keep his mouth shut.
feed him to the dogs
Until last night I thought lashley had potential, but he’s clearly years away from being competitive with the top heavyweights and I don’t want to see him crush a 6pack while he’s being groomed. I understand sims is 6’8" so he’s an awkward match up but lashley looked terrible. No killer instinct. I know the fight was on the ground so he wasn’t getting good leverage but those punches looked really weak. Let a top guy destroy him please and then let japan have him until he learns something. I will be the first to stop the lesnar comparisons and I’m embarrased I even considered him to have that much potential. Any top 10 heavyweight will have there way with him. Feed him to Rogers!

easy custer
dude Bobby went the distance with huggy bear’s fat older brother. He beat a list of cans but he did win and easily. Still Fedor? Please. If anyone shoul get a shot at overeem it is Fedor. How about Rogers? Rogers vs Lashley would sell tickets and both are undefeated minus Roger’s getting KO’d by Fedor. Overeem should be stripped of the belt for not defending it. Give it to Fedor.
Lashley is a punk shithead
He’s so fucking far away from anything called a title its not even funny.
Beating the WORST guy on the latest TUF who lost badly to a can on the show. LOL.
He hasnt fought ONE real fighter yet.

Work your way up or a title shot
Nothing in between? You have to fight someone that is decent Lashley a Monson or Hardonk kind of fighter, no more fighters that have full time jobs. Overeem let’s see it he needs to fight someone anyway and maybe he would come back for a fight against you, Fedor on the other hand is a waste of a Fedor contracted fight. Honestly I would like to see Rogers and Lashley go at it?
"He broke tim sylvia’s arm…...So what?" – Brock Lesnar
I have a feeling that Werdum is about to get the Jay Heiron treatment
I smell Lashley vs. Fredo on CBS in April.
Not likely
I don’t think we’ll see Overies fight in the US again. I think he’s happy to fight in Japan where he’s free to consume all the horse meat his heart desires. Strikeforce will have to strip him and we’ll see Lashley vs. Fedo in the near future.
Didn't Jay refuse to fightg Marius because he wasn't a big enough name?
That is why he got skipped, from what I understand!
I think SF is trying to keep him undefeated
For more hype.
Not sure if it will help if all he has fought are tomato cans.
Would be cool to watch him fight the strongman Mariusz Pujanaweski – probably spelled wrong.

Pudzianowski's not a HW though I do not know if he can get down to 265
Lashley must understand these one round fights are impressing nobody and they are not helping him, he needs a tougher struggle to grow. And jumping into the deep end is plain old stupid.

He needs to fight someone like Rogers
See which one is for real and which one will take a back seat.
This space for rent. Wanna bet on the Diaz fight? 01/28/10
He's talkin a title shot?
With wins over fat Guida, Bob Sapp and the retard Sims??
Bobby, Bobby puleeze…..beat SOMEONE before talking $hit…..
Why does everyone hate so much on Lashley. He is a great athlete, has phenomenal wrestling. he isnt on the fast track like Brock, he doensnt even want to be. He isnt overly cocky, he isnt declaring he is the best. He is green, he is developing and so far he has done everything right in his early career track.
