UFC Quick Quote: Tito Ortiz is 'full of shit'

Tito_ortiz_chuck_liddell_pi_medium

"No, it's not true at all. He's full of shit. Let me tell you what Chuck told me. He's gonna break his head open! Yeah, he's pissed."

-- WEC General Manager Reed Harris kept it short and not-so-sweet when Dave Farra asked him on X107.5 Las Vegas if there was any truth to the allegations made by Tito Ortiz that Chuck Liddell is a recovering alcoholic. Ortiz claimed that Liddell was in deep trouble with the disease of alcoholism, until Dana White saved the most dominant light heavyweight champion in recent history through an intervention. Harris was quick to challenge Ortiz's claims, saying that "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" is "full of shit." Whether it is true or not, it seems Tito Ortiz is fully in favor of refueling the fire these two once had between them. Let the games begin ... again.

I completely agree with title of this thread..

Ortiz is indeed full of shit; and not in regards to just this one claim he’s made.

When was that?

Who has he really beat?

In reverse order: 4 winless fights in a row. 2 "victories" of Shamrock, controversial "win" over Forrest (split decision anyway), another split with Vitor (when Vitor was on the rocks), decision with a small Cote on short notice, two bad losses to Randy and Chuck, Shamrock again (yawn), and then his “golden years”: Wins over The Janitor, SINOSIC (LMFAO), Tanner (not really that great), Kondo (who?), and then a win over Wandy (before he became WANDY!!!! ), then Frank Shamrock pimp slapped him, then a split with Mezger and a couple of other nobodies. Not really that impressive. He just fought at a time when the real cream on the crop hadn’t developed and the talent level was low.

He may have had the title, but it was before there was any real talent in the division and his "major wins" are all split decisions and against guys way out of their prime.

Stop talking Tito, we all see through your BS. Just because Jenna taught you marketing (yep, he’s learning marketing from a porn star), doesn’t mean you are any good at it.

My favorite quote (after the Rashad fight, yelling into the mike)," You wanna see us do it again?"….you could hear crickets chirping until an elderly usher in the very back yelled, "Fuck no!".

by StrikerDave on Jan 29, 2010 4:20 PM EST up reply actions

Really?

It looks like a draw to me. I was at that fight. He may have really won the fight, but it is a sport, and they do deduct when you cheat in any sport. It’s like saying my basketball team really won on field goals and the other team only won because they shot so many free throws. The point taken was legit.

by StrikerDave on Jan 29, 2010 4:29 PM EST up reply actions

But he didn't enough said.

Yes, he got the better of Rashad but is he wasn’t cheating, he would have won. Too bad he did cheat, got caught, and then DIDN’t GET THE WIN. Tito finds ways to blow it now. It’s comical.

by StrikerDave on Jan 29, 2010 5:52 PM EST up reply actions

StrikerDave

I couldnt AGREE with you more. Tito didn’t win that fight. He cheated by grabbing the fence. And he did it more than once. If Rashad got that takedown, Shad coulda done some damage.

funny

its funny how you technical you get with the draw, but put have something to say about all of his wins. He really beat WANDY and really beat vitor (not hear to argue if he was great good or bad just thought you should stop contradicting yourself)

by thegr8stkybrdwarrior on Jan 29, 2010 7:18 PM EST up reply actions

How...

How am I contradicting myself? He did get a draw with Rashad and he did only get a decision win over a pre terrorizing Wandy. And he did only get a decision over Vitor.

His “wins” over top guys are always decisions (someone else’s opinion of who won) and are often split decisions. And this stoppages are over suppect guys or guys not in their prime. They are wins but I’m just saying….

As far as the Shad fight, he had it and HE let it get away. His fault.

Nice post but I think he was better than average. A prime Tito was a good fighter. He is clearly past his prime.

See now we see what kind of fan you are.

Yuki Kondo is a true MMAer. A guy that hosts a 50-23-7 Record. Thats alot of fights. He was 29-8 when he fought Tito with notable wins over Sammy Schilt, Saulo Ribiero, Frank Shamrock, Pete Williams and Guy Metzger. He was at the time considered a very talented and ranked fighter. Shows how much you know or history.

Matyushenko was also very good in that time. people think of him more now about his mediocre fights vs mid level fighters and losses vs upper echelon fighters. But he is 23-4!!!! He was 10-1 When he fought Tito and after he lost to Tito he rebounded with a win vs Lil Nog.

Elvis was a mediocre fighter I agree. But when he fought Tito he had beaten Jeremy Horn who at the time was better then established now.

Evan Tanner was another strory. He was one hell of a story. Tanner was 23-2 when he fought Tito after beating guys like Heath Herring and Paul Buentello.

Wanderlei was 11-2 so sure he wasnt the wrecking machine he would grow into but he was still plenty good at the time.

I do know who he is, but in history he ill kind of be forgotten. He does have some good wins as the sport was developing, but he has a LOT of losses as well, and to some so-so fighters. He really was never unbeatable.

“Matyushenko was also…”
Stop, I didn’t really have anything to say about Matsu. He has a nice record I give Tito that one.

“Elvis was a mediocre fighter I agree. But when he fought Tito he had beaten Jeremy Horn who at the time was better then established now.”
He got one lucky sub on Horn. Its happens. But he hasn’t beaten anyone else of any consequence. Elvis is the “Glass Joe” of MMA.

“Evan Tanner was another strory.”
Tanner is the same a Tito, he was only good because he was at a time when the sport hadn’t developed. He has few good wins, But is still a train wreck. He also had a loss the Heath “Born to Lose” Herring. You’ll never convince me that Tanner was THAT great.

Wandy was alright then but hadn’t entered his prime. Like I said, “all split decisions and against guys way out of their prime.”

Something is up there...

I understand why he was so beloved. Something went down with him even if it was just internal turmoil. Never like to see a guy die early but he may have made it his time to go. Too bad.

Still a victory over him isn’t that impressive.

I think beating him back in the day would make you a top five fighter and thats something to be proud of. Is he one of the greatest ever no. try to keep up

He won it at a time when the talent pool was shallowest. Wandy just wasn’t the Wandy that went through Japan like Godzilla.

I compare Tito’s title years to that of Tim Sylvia, Sean Sherk, and Evan Tanner. If the talent was there…the title wouldn’t have been for those guys.

by StrikerDave on Jan 30, 2010 11:08 AM EST up reply actions

Furthermore

Frank was a legend of the Sport and no shame in losing to him in that time. Mezger was tough and a very good B level guy back then. And thats when Tito was still Green. He fought and dominated Ken and sure Ken wasnt who he is now but they were dominating performances. He lost to chuck probably the best 205er of all time and most feared and lost to a Legendary Randy..

His excuses, his lying to sell a fight, his winless performances of late, his making MMA into a circus, his trash talk, his claiming he is the best business man in the sport, his inflated record, his pornstar wife, his reversing himself after any statement, his out date style of fighting, his “legendary” training (yet gassing in almost all of his fights ,he may have had above average training once, but the level has passed him by and then some), his predictable antics, his constant reminding us of his past glory, and finally…his stupid head shape and dye job.

What a bafoon.

In other sports they retire at Tito's age, it's not optimal anymore to fight at around 35 yrs old.

you can go ahead and discredit Liddell’s every win now that all those fighters are worthless and over the hill too. It simply doesn’t work that way.

Tito was in phenomenal condition back in the day when he was at his best, then came the injuries and he went down the same road a ton of athletes do and now he’s old, his body has been through so much that he can’t perform to the level he was at and his body probably just needs to rest up.

fresh like uhh.

by RoBerto. on Jan 29, 2010 9:05 PM EST up reply actions

Tito’s whole fighting style was about pressure and being in great great shape so he could push through the whole fight, his only real skill where he was better then other fighters was ofc at GnP.

the old generation with Tito, Randy, Chuck and those guys are dying out, the new generation of mma fighters are coming in now with guys hitting their prime.

I just think it’s really funny that Chuck has guys in denial for him, usually it’s the person with a problem in denial!
I do agree that Tito had no place to call out anyone, he’s addicted too….he’s addicted to using big words he doesn’t have a clue how to use, plugging himself for being super smart and making excuses every time something goes wrong!

Good points and jokes Kev

You have to be lying, dumb or in denial to not notice that Chuck has a problem, professional athletes should not have beer bellys, fall asleep on TV shows or speak incoherently especially when they are the champion so clearly there is something wrong there.

Tito is a dumbarse in denial, though him and Jenna have both made a lot of money so I can’t fault him for that. Both him and Chuck were great fighters in their day whatever the revisionists say.

He showed it in the shogun fight, and even if it isnt as good as it was tito couldn’t even keep forrest down or even take him down for the most part of there fight. Chuck is gonna kill him, there first 2 fights weren’t even close at all, he must think that because shogun the #2 lhw and rashad the #3 or 4 lhw dropped him that he now has a chance, I can’t wait to see chuck knock this fuckin fool into retirement.
