UFC Quick Quote: Lil' Nog is a 'horrible fight' for Forrest Griffin
"That is a horrible fight for me. I have trained with his brother a little bit, so he already has the 'inside scoop' on me, he's a southpaw, has got a good chin, and has good power. Plus he is pretty solid on the ground. The only place I would have an advantage would be wrestling... and my wrestling is not that good. So yeah, that’s a tough match up for me. I'd do it, if that’s what they wanted, but being straight up, there are other guys I'd rather fight."
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin tells MMASportsMag he isn't exactly warm and fuzzy over his planned match up against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira UFC 113 event from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on May 8. Perhaps Griffin is still a little weary of Brazilians after the clobbering he took against Anderson Silva last year -- is it that a loss to "Lil' Nog" could send him tumbling down the 205-pound rankings? Unfortunately there is very little margin for error in this division. Where does Forrest rank before and after the Nogueira fight?

what a fucking pussy!
Forrest is garbage! One of the most over rated fighters that I have ever seen. Forrest, if you accept being over rated, and undeservingly (is that a real word?)called a top fighter, then you fight other top fighters regardless of how bad of a match up it is for you.
Poor Forrest just realized the downside of being a UFC marketing creation…the BS hype doesnt carry over in the cage
Cant wait til this fight. to be made official so I can bet my house on this fight! For sure, I will bet the most amount of money that I have ever bet on this fight! Forrest should open up at a plus 500 underdog!
Cant wait for this fight!
Me and my boy NNR have been predicting that 2010 will expose Forrest for the c’-level fighter that he is….and right now we are on schedule! Forrest will be rematching Sick Dog and Elvis sinosic by 2011…hahahaha|!
well for real though!
Like who the fuck says that? So what now we’re all supposed to feel bad and let him have Kimbo or what? This is ridiculous. What the fuck do you do with a guy like this? This wounded puppy needs to be euthanized. This is the most depressing quote I’ve ever read from a fighter!

Bullshit
If you beat Shogun (nomatter the conditions) and Rampage to win the 205-title is not a little deal. Respect and spare us your envy.

No doubt so much hate towards Forrest. He’s not my favorite fight by a long shot but hes no C level fighter thats just ignorant. That being said the only way Forrest wins (in my eyes) is if LIL Nog gets a staph infection and still fights.

If he's not willing to fight everyone they put in front of him
He should be getting a pay cut, at least. He makes top money and is choosing who he fights now?

He really helped the UFC grow and won a title thats why he makes big money. That and alot of people love him. I loved watching him fight before he went all technical. But he is a model employee that takes fights on short notice and fights where he’s gotta beat really solid competition. Wonder what Dana has to say about this.

I was beginning to think I was the only one that thought he was kidding, he always says stuff like this sarcastically. Any time he is asked who he thinks will win one of his fights he always says the other guy and says he is a terrible fighter. I think it is just now people don’t think he is kidding any more lol. I still love Forrest as a fighter regardless of what all these guys post about him being a “pussy”.
I dont get alot of the forrest hate
This quote is disturbing, sounds like hes getting old. The youngfer forrest wouldnt care who he gets into the cage with.
I understand you not liking him John, but Forrest is far from C level, He fights alot top level fighters, is pretty well rounded (just not great at anything) and has a couple of big wins to his credit. Anybody is gonna look bad against silva.

I'm a Forrest fan and proud of it
A C-level fighter? You guys are a joke! Forrest is a self-deprecating type of person, you should now that by now. Most fighters just over-hype themselves up, and maybe that’s necessary for them, but Forrest is just an honest guy. It doesn’t mean he’s not gonna try.
The guy beat up Rampage for 5 rounds, dominantly. He choked out Shogun. He was beating Rashad until he got caught. And he beat Tito twice, yes TWICE! The first fight should’ve been 29-28 for Forrest.
Tito interviewing Babalu: "I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight, what you saw, in the ring."
Tito interviewing Fedor: "Let me tell you how you feeling right now?"
I agree on all counts except for the First Tito fight
Fedor played Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun and won.
AMERICA.....FUCK YEAH
I think tito got robbed in the 2nd fight and the rampage performance was far from dominant.

Forrest didn’t dominate Page.

2nd round forrest dominated
brutal kicks/had him mounted.
Fedor played Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun and won.
AMERICA.....FUCK YEAH
true. the 2nd round was like 10-0
Tito interviewing Babalu: "I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight, what you saw, in the ring."
Tito interviewing Fedor: "Let me tell you how you feeling right now?"
Forrest is definitely not C level..
but for sure like a b, b- level fighter. He’s gonna be along your matt hamill’s of the world and fighting Bonnar a third time soon enough. You can’t expect to sit next to A level fighters with 0 skills and some intangibles. I hope they match him up wit Bones Jones after he beats up Vera. Use up the remaining luster in his name to further market a giant prospect with limitless upside. Or maybe a franklin fight?

Bones would finish it quick.

Forrest did dominate Page, but that's just my opinion.
When you win almost every round on a 5 rd fight, and at least one 10-8 rd…that’s dominant.
Tito interviewing Babalu: "I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight, what you saw, in the ring."
Tito interviewing Fedor: "Let me tell you how you feeling right now?"
I see your point
And I hate Page, so I will agree. I tried to stick up for him.
This space for rent. Wanna bet on the Diaz fight? 01/28/10
Dominate implies win rounds in convincing and dominant fashion.
Rd 2 was definitely 10-8 because he crippled him and was on top for 99% of the round while rampage did absolutely nothing. Even with the little offense he got going, that was only a 10-8 simply for the fact that rampage did nothing. The rest however were all debatable rds except for 1. I don’t consider that domination. He won the rounds but rampages’ face didn’t show the wear from his pillow fists (minus the leg).
by NNR (formerly NameNotRequired) on Jan 29, 2010 5:32 PM EST up reply actions
I thought it was dominant
he won the rounds convincingly and dominant fashion. you think all the rounds, except the first 2 were debatable, i dont. IMO, he won almost every round. Forrest didn’t beat him up like GSP beat up Fitch, but it still was a dominant performance. Page’s face wasn’t beat up, sure. Do you base a fight on head strikes only? Why not just get doctors to decide winners by looking at both fighters after a fight and decide who has more damage.
Tito interviewing Babalu: "I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight, what you saw, in the ring."
Tito interviewing Fedor: "Let me tell you how you feeling right now?"
Hey Tito! Quit using Daniel Worby's Mania Account
Daniel, if it’s you…are you insane? You’re probably the only person, besides Tito, who thinks he won the 2nd fight. Wow. I scored it way different. Please tell me how you scored it.
Tito interviewing Babalu: "I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight, what you saw, in the ring."
Tito interviewing Fedor: "Let me tell you how you feeling right now?"
two words
Man I seriously had it as follows
Round 1: tito 10-9
Round 2: tito 10-9
Round 3: Forrest 10-9 or 10-8
I see it as a tito win because they rarely score 10-8’s but definitely in my opinion was a 10-8 so I was ok with a draw as well. But that’s an unlikely scenario too.
Sorry man, I saw the Machida fight as a W for Dragon as well and I saw the Randy fight as a clear win no if’s and’s or buts so maybe I just see em different.

I gotta watch it again
my dislike for Tito might’ve had a little to do with it, but i scored it like this:
Rd.1: Forrest 10-9
Rd.2: Forrest 10-9
Rd.3: Forrest 10-8
The first 2 rounds were close, but Forrest did a good job with reversals and was throwing up subs from bottom. He did well with his stand up.
What’s the point in having 10-8 rounds if they’re not gonna score it?? They should score 10-8 Rds more often.
Tito interviewing Babalu: "I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight, what you saw, in the ring."

Tough to win if thats where your mind is
If you go into a fight not knowing how you are going to beat your opponent…..how are you going to beat your opponent? Really though, I don’t think it would matter if he had all the confidence in the world, Lil Nog is simply better and IMO would win 9/10.
LOL F'n Forrest
Sounds like he doesn’t want to have anything to do with Brazilians after his Silva fight. From beating Rua to this??
"He broke tim sylvia’s arm…...So what?" – Brock Lesnar
typical
Forest is one of those guys that always says he doesn’t pick fights or care who or where he fights but then makes excuses ala Tito before the fight even happens…I hope lil NOG KOs anybody he fights especially Forest
Fedor once bet NASA he could survive re-entry without a spacesuit.
On July 19th, 1999, a naked Fedor re-entered the earth's atmosphere, streaking over 14 states and reaching a temperature of 3000 degrees. An embarrassed NASA publically claimed it was a meteor, and still owes him a beer.
I agree at some point
Well, I’m one of the guys who think Forrest isn’t that top fighter but I wouldn’t put him at C-level. His strongest features is his heart and he is good on the ground and striking but nothing extraordinary, actually. I hope he accepts this fight and act like the top contender many fans say he is.
"Once Flamengo, Flamengo until die"
Forrest is around a Jardine
They always have a chance against anyone but chances are they will lose against the elite.

But Puck Head, money talks louder, right? I’m pretty sure Forrest is one of the one-milion UFC fighters.

if he came out saying it’s a great match up for him…. all of you would be ripping into him still.
He’s being honest…. yeah he probably will get beat, but he’ll still go in there and fight NONE of you on here would do.
Other fighters dodge potential opponents (which Forrest hasn’t) and nobody kicks up half as much shite as you lot
Your partially right Wet
But before Silva Forrest wouldn’t be saying this, no doubt he’s a good fighter as is anyone that is even in the top 20 for that matter. But Forrest is being judged as a top five fighter and thats were the negative you see comes from because like I said from champion to………

Exactly
Forrest isn’t and never will be the most skilled fighter but he has shown the determination of a champion and elite toughness but for some reason wether it was the loss to Evans or way to much respect shown to Silva when he entered the octagon against Silva something was wrong I thought maybe he was to strung out or hyped up but he did not look like himself nor did he fight like he has. From “never give up” attitude to this shows something is wrong with forrest mentally? Or maybe with the millions he has made he has just became soft?
"He broke tim sylvia’s arm…...So what?" – Brock Lesnar
He's one of the best LHW
I still think he could be champ again. So he looked amateurish against the best p4p fighter in the world. So what? Anderson would demolish most LHW’s. It’s not like he was losing to Rashad when he got caught, he looked pretty good against Tito, not great, but good.
Tito interviewing Babalu: "I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight, what you saw, in the ring."
Tito interviewing Fedor: "Let me tell you how you feeling right now?"
Your right
I agree but I think Forrest confidence was shattered with Silva. the old Forrest would not of tried to back out of any fight.
"He broke tim sylvia’s arm…...So what?" – Brock Lesnar
he's not backing out
i take Forrest’s quotes with a grain of salt and a bit of comic relief.

Not A Pussy, Honesty . . . Have some respect you fat ass bloggers!
For all of you guys who think that is a pussy statement, clearly you do not know much about fighting/training . . . When you train with someone, you are giving them access to your most important secrets, like those stories only your best mates know about.
A fighter builds his skill set over a period of time to have a competitive edge. Once this is exposed do you know how long it will take to change, I mean really change to be effective at the elite level?
All Forrest has done here is be honest! Plain and Simple. Lil Nog is a gun & Forrest is acknowledging this . . .
So please, guys. Think before you write, cut him some slack, sit your fat asses in front of you TV and enjoy the fight because it should be a good one!
agreed.
It’s refreshing to see a guy like Forrest air out his honest feelings. If this was Tito, he would say: “I’m 100%, I’m way better than Nog, I’m gonna knock him out, blah blah blah”.
Tito interviewing Babalu: "I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight, what you saw, in the ring."
Tito interviewing Fedor: "Let me tell you how you feeling right now?"
Don't get your panties tied in a knot DU
Forrest became a fan to many not because of his skill because of his toughness and willingness to fight anybody including the best. This statement is disappointing to any of his fans including myself, yes some are being to harsh but as good as Lil Nog may be Forrest has fought equal talent to Lil Nogs exposed are not the old Forrest would just bring it and not be worried about winning or losing, now that you mention it maybe thats forrests problem he is thinking too much instead of just fighting.
"He broke tim sylvia’s arm…...So what?" – Brock Lesnar
That's the reason i've never been a fan.
He brings 0 skills. After fighting all these years, not too much improvements except for he doesn’t slug as much anymore. But that’s just a realization that his glass chin isn’t doing him favors in a division stacked with hitters.
So i say let’s move on from this and discuss a future Lil Nog-Shogun II matchup;)

no skills? i beg to differ
submission skills, leg kicks, striking. he’s not the best, but he’s well-rounded.
Shogun can say whatever he wants, he took the fight and got subbed. Rampage can say what he wants about Juanito, he took the fight and got dominated. And Forrest beat Tito twice.
Tito interviewing Babalu: "I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight, what you saw, in the ring."
Tito interviewing Fedor: "Let me tell you how you feeling right now?"

Goldfish Bloggers . . .
Forrest is not saying he will lose, he is simply saying, in his own words, it will be an extremely difficult match up. No Hype is needed to built this fight.
You guys clearly have short term memories – this happens all the time especially when fights are about to face – GSP, Machida, Lesnar, BJ Penn, Fitch – I can go on and on and on . . .
Puck Head – I don’t were panties mate, prefer going commando, sorry to wreck your fantasy :-)
Just a thought, but it might be some of that sarcastic Forrest humor?
I don’t think the guy will back down from a fight that could put him in line for the title. We all know Forrest has a sarcastic humor and at times, if you just read his comments they may come off as wtf? Forrest can be so full of crap that even his fans can’t understand what he was talking about. Forrest will fight lil Nog and hopefully give us a good fight.

even forrest knows he sucks
every fight for forrest is a bad fight. this guy has nothing except cardio he has no power, he’s not a good wrestler, and submitting a one-legged shogun with no cardio means nothing to me shogun would knock him out if they fought now. The only way this guy can win is by squeezing out a decision he’s extremely overrated

Dont know why
Forest would admit something like this and give his opponent a mental edge. However Forest doesnt suck and can beat many fighters. Maybe he doesnt have the best of everthing but he does or did have great HEART and Cardio which counts for alot. This new Forest is reallt selling himself short. Everyone is dogging Forest because he lost to Anderson but dont forget that he did Beat Rampage though controversial he had his dominant points especially the 2nd round. this interview was done right after the tito ortiz fight, before this was even a rumored fight.

i hate how nog wont fight machida , the division should b centered around the belt, not machida bodyguards
i hate more when someone who wont fight for title gets top guys.
forest and his fans were hoping for another easy fight considering some (not me) think tito edged out forrest in the rematch. Also Forrest fought top 10 /p4p best guys, he needs to ease his way back. besides after lil nog, are there any top 10 guys for forrest still?
Lill Nog dont want the belt, he wants to pick easy matchups for himself.
