The official weigh-in event for Strikeforce: "Miami" is in the books. The festivities took place TODAY (Jan. 29) at the Chairman's Club from the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla.
Strikeforce: "Miami" features a main event between Nick Diaz and DREAM Welterweight Champion Marius Zaromskis for the promotion's vacant 170-pound world title. Female powerhouse Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos will put her 145-pound title on the line against Marloes Coenen in the co-featured fight of the night.
In addition, feared K-1 striker "Marvelous" Melvin Manhoef will make his Strikeforce debut opposite the power-punching "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler. And joining them on the main card is Herschel Walker vs. Greg Nagy and Bobby Lashley vs. Wes Sims.
Each of the ten main card fighters set to compete on the Showtime telecast hit their respective marks on their first attempt, including both main event welterweight title participants.
There were, however, a few minor issues with the under card fighters. Sabah Homasi, John Kelly and Hayder Hassan were each slightly heavy on their first tries, but in each case the fights were agreed to go forth by both fighters without penalty.
