UFC Quick Quote: Tito Ortiz is proud of Chuck Liddell for finally finding sobriety

Liddell-bed_medium

"I think [Liddell] had a problem. A lot of people go through addiction. I think his deal was he was an alcoholic. He loved to party. When you have all the money in the world and you can do what you want, no one tells you, 'No.' You're one of the baddest men on the Earth; no one tells you, 'No.' You can do what you want.' Thank God that (UFC president) Dana (White) gave [Liddell] an intervention, and he's sober now. He's been sober since November, and he looks like a different person. It's awesome. I'm proud of him – really proud of him ... I'm proud he's found sobriety. A lot of fighters, and a lot of people in general, don't do that. They fall off the face of the earth, and sometimes they'll find them in a hotel, dead, or behind a wheel, dead. Thank God Chuck isn't one of those guys. Thank God he found sobriety, and I'm proud of him – very proud of him."

Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 11 Coach Tito Ortiz (via Yahoo Sports) wipes his brow and gives big ups to the Lord Almighty for keeping opposing Coach and bitter rival Chuck Liddell alive during his alleged battle with alcoholism. Tito of course had two very high profile bouts with "The Iceman," dropping both by way of knockout. Is this another ploy to get inside Liddell's head as they square off one more time? Or is "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" sincere with his well wishes?

Tito's right but

but was this public knowledge or did Tito just air Chuck’s dirt laundry?

Fedor was originally cast as the main character in 24, but was replaced by the producers when he managed to kill every terrorist and save the day in 12 minutes and 37 seconds

Who wrote that statement for Tito to sign his name to?

no kidding

My thoughts after reading that statement

“who the fock does Tito think he is talking about Chucks personal life like that”
He’s not wrong – but it’s not his place whatsoever.

Just for that, Chuck is going to bang Tito’s woman, if he hasn’t already.

agreed.

this way Tito can say he lost to a really improved Chuck. not the one who got ko’d by Rampage, Rashad, and Shogun.

Tito's preparing his excuses even before training.

Tito specializes in running his mouth

Not cool putting Chuck’s business on front street like that, but this is what Tito doesn’t best. Talk shit, lose, present excuse.

I find this cool

I had no problem seeing Chuck Liddell’s problem with partying and everything that comes with it, maybe some coke here and there he just didn’t look the same, his belly and a red nose at times.

question is who didn’t know this? I certainly did.

fresh like uhh.

I hope he pisses Chuck off and Chuck comes back with authority!!

Thought it was public knowledge???

At least he didn’t bring up his coke addiction. I use to be a huge Tito fan, still am…kinda. Every time he speaks it hurts to be his fan. I just don’t care for dumb people and Tito proves that with every word he speaks. Especially when their not even real words!!! LOL

Not public enough to have TIto talking about it in the media!

I thought that was real fucked up. I would be furious if I was Chuck! If Chuck never made an official statement addressing it then in now way should Tito be saying this!

Public Knowledge

I don’t think Tito is airing Chuck’s “dirty laundry” or stating anything that is public knowledge. I think he’s just providing an opinion of how he viewed Chuck at the time and how he views him now. Hypothetically, if Tito had come out and said Chuck had gone to rehab or sought professional help, then I think he would have crossed a line, but I don’t have a problem with his comments here.

chemical cleaners v. alcohol

chuck was never an alcoholic, he was a pill head and a GHB freak. with G you can get SMASHED on one cap and not have it wreck your training regiment like booze does.

you follow up that cap of pool cleaners with some morphine or some percs and you have the man that everyone knows and few people love.. chuck “i’m no randy couture and should have truly retired” liddell.

from all personal info i’ve heard from fans that have met him in person outside of the show he’s a cool guy who gives his time. plz, don’t believe that the guys you see infront of the camera are the same in real life, it’s a business and their job Tito’s image have always been to be an outspoken jackass.

fresh like uhh.

by RoBerto. on Jan 27, 2010 2:29 PM EST up reply actions

RoBerto

every fan who gets their shit signed by a fighter will say “he’s such a cool guy” cuz they acknowledged their existence by saying a few words. why shouldn’t i believe the guy i see infront of the camera is the guy in real life??? Most fighters are always themselves, inside or outside of the octagon/ring. This isn’t WWE, there’s no characters, or atleast their shouldnt be. These are their lives, when they get on the mic after a fight, they speak from their hearts, not from a script. Everyone see’s past Tito’s BS excuses. Tito’s not trying to be a jackass, he just is. You think he gets anymore fans by complaining about a cracked skull, no! that’s his ego looking for an excuse to salvage any fans he has remaining. And what about when he totally insulted Koscheck at the post-fight presser by sayin he shoulda got FOTN, instead of Kos. You think he’s acting like a jackass? No, that’s just Tito’s ego. After that, Kos actually said he would fight Tito at LHW.

Tito interviewing Babalu: "I want to tell me what you see, let's go ahead and see by the fight, what you saw, in the ring."

Tito interviewing Fedor: "Let me tell you how you feeling right now?"

by Two_Words on Jan 27, 2010 3:13 PM EST up reply actions

Kos would kill him

And Tito is a jackass. It is obviously spreading to his fans now as well.

by jay. on Jan 27, 2010 4:35 PM EST up reply actions

yeah yeah, it’s because their put in a situation who has nothing to do with real life, say whatever you want but i’d believe a guy that’s been in the biz for over ten years knows a thing or two.

Insulted Kos with what? because he thought his own fight deserved fight of the night? give me a break.

fresh like uhh.

a knight in shining armour..

i heard from one of my inside sources, that he single handidly flew a plane to haiti, and delivered aid to starving people, and while he was there he pulled three children from the rubble, alive, then flew home and did 3 training sessions in the same day, and never complained or made a big deal out of it once…..

By building up Chuck it makes Tito look awesome if he wins and not so bad if loses to new and improved and sober Chuck.

i thought chuck was just into the blondes. i guess i was wrong

i think dancing with the stars changed him. he was teamed up with i think a redheaded russian. i still think the reason chuck wants to fight is because if he is not in the mma scene his mojo is kinda blown on picking up women. kid rock once said when he was an up and coming musician that he used to get women that were 150 pounds. once he hit the big time with paltinum albums he got 115 pound women who could grace the pages of many magazines. there is alot of truth to that. it is also funny and sad at the same time.

i'm all about covering the spread and moneylines. i was building a house, i don't deserve this, deserves have nothing to do with it. bang. "unforgiven"
