UFC Quick Quote: Bring it on, Wanderlei
"My loss to Dan Henderson at UFC 100 last July set me back a little bit, but it’s never caused me to doubt my ability or re-think my goals. I’ve always known – and my team have always known – that I possess the skills to climb the UFC ladder and reach a title shot. Now I just need to prove it. I know that Wanderlei will present an altogether tougher test on February 21st, but I’m determined to surprise a lot of people. While Kang is a very good fighter in his own right, Wanderlei is the next level for me. He’s at that Dan Henderson level, the level I need to prove myself at. He’s the real test at this stage of my career and I believe this fight has come at the right time. I’m over the Henderson defeat, my confidence is sky-high and I’m coming off one of the best wins of my career. I’ve seen interviews this week with Wanderlei saying he’s going knock me out and that I am scared of him. He’s mistaken on both counts. Bring it on, Wanderlei…"
Michael Bisping pens the latest entry in his online diary over at The Daily Telegraph as his confidence grows heading into his pending middleweight clash with Wanderlei Silva at UFC 110 from the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia, on Feb. 21. "The Count" insists his loss to Dan Henderson -- coupled by his come-from-behind win over Denis Kang -- has matured him as a fighter and prepared him to take his career to the next level. Can he stop "The Axe Murderer's" onslaught in Sydney?

It'll be an even tougher road back after another KO loss
Sorry sweetie but your pitter patter jabs while backpedaling won’t work on an uber agressive fighter like Wanderlei.

Hahaha...me too. If he stands up with Wand he will lose by KO or by a UD. No doubt.

I want to see some epic knees from Wandy
I hope it’s so bad it gives Rampage flashbacks to Pride. War Wand!!!

Go to the Anderson Silva thread from yesterday, the one about capoeira.
Dudes explained it to me yesterday. I like that one you tried to do. I can’t get that one to work for me either.

Tito Ortiz: I think Chuck's lost a step, maybe i've lost a step also, but that's what makes the fight so exciting!
exactly what i think he will do..
if he survives the 1st lol.im seriously not sold on the weight cut yet and it could take another fight to acclimatise.wandy plants both his feet firmly on the floor to achieve his ko power so aslong as bisping doesnt stay still i can see him tiring silva out.bispings got decent hands to be fair but zero ko power so hes screwed in the upper echelons of this division.id like to see him win obviously im a patriotic englishman but i just cant see it.
I'm not sure that will work
I think (errr I hope) we see Wandy coming forward agressively like he used to since he’s not scared of Bisping’s “power”. Also…we should see a lot and cutting off the angles similar to the way Hendo did to Bisping. Wandy has fought a lot of wrestlers and I don’t see Bisping as the one to take him down. Eventually Wandy is going to get him into a clinch and that’s when Silva will go to work and crumple the brit and finish him.
Bisping needs to train at a better gym than Wolfslair…I think they’ve taken him as far as they can and it’s time for Bisping to get some better and different training partners cause I’m sure he beats up all of them over there. I know he wants to be close enough to his family but it’s time to make some more sacrifices if he really wants to get a shot at any belt.

good call..
even the bisping haters gave got to admit although the wrestling training over here is limited hes quite good at scrambling and getting back to his feet.hamil and evans had a hard time keeping him down.hes just got no power id just go to a camp with the best jj coaches and try and go at the submission angle
Wandy is a black belt. I don’t see Bisping getting the sub here. I actually have Bisping either out-workling a drained and old Wnady for the decision or working the GnP like he did against Kang.
The weather is here, I wish you were beautiful

Bisping Takes Him Down
And He Wins The Fight

apparently on mmabay radio...
these two snapped out on each other. didnt hear it but read that Wandy snapppppped out pretty bad at the end of the show! lots of trash talking…hope wandy puts bisbings head in the 10th row
I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was.
Kill him Wand
Wand is looking for murder in this one. I think Bisping goes to sleep and takes another hard shot for good measure like Hendo did to him…
Goodnight Bisping.
"He got to the championship a couple times but choked…no literally, he got choked..... twice." - Matt Serra talking about Frank Trigg
I'm picking Wand
And I think after this win a great match up would be him and Leben. Both with KO power, both looking to improve their win streak of one (I’m just assuming Wandy beats Bisping)
Leben took down Jay Silva cause he wasn’t too confident in his striking againt Silva’s skills.
So if Wandy wins here, him and Leben would be a great fight. Would Leben wanna try stand’n’bang or take Silva down again. And to see if Wandy can get the KO or work his ground game effectively to get the W
The only thing about Leben
Is when he starts getting desperate you see that left hook coming in a mile away. Wand is susceptible to the KO to be sure but that telegraphed/slow hook is not landing. I don’t see a win over Leben as moving Wand closer to the title. I think he needs to at least go up against the Marquardt/Sonnen loser and then a #1 contender fight afterwards if he wins that one.

Yeah I know what ya mean with predictability
I’m not too sure who I’d pick for the win in that one. I just see it as a good fight with good reasoning behind it
As for Wand fighting Sonnen/Marquardt loser, I think it’d be too soon. He’s hasn’t won in a while and I don’t think he’d be ready for that big of a contender yet (I do love Wand an all), I just think he’d need more time to get use to the cut and fight a lesser named opponent. After that (granted he wins), give him whoever.
I just think he needs a fight where winning would be more achievable but a loss isn’t outta the question, kinda like the Jardine fight at LHW
Nah, he needs to keep fighting top guys if he's serious about going for the belt
Leben isn’t even top 20 and is lucky to still be in the UFC, he is nowhere near ready for Wand and he’d get smashed in seconds. A win over Leben at this point would be meaningless for Wand and wouldn’t get him close to a title shot. He doesn’t have many more fights left in him so it’d be a waste matching him up with a one dimensional unranked past his prime fighter like Leben, especially if he does beat Bisping like he should and after his close decision loss to Franklin.
He needs to keep facing top guys, the Nate-Sonnen loser would be a sensible opponent as they’d be beatable, relevant and the fight would be an easy sell. Either Wand looks to avenge Maia’s defeat to Nate or make Sonnen pay for his comments on Andy, either way he’ll be motivated and ready to make the step up after beating Bisping.

So after Wand loses this fight
Will he still win his next one by “easy brutal KO”?
by Lester The Pimp on Jan 26, 2010 9:39 AM EST reply actions
What makes you think that Wand will lose? I don't think that he has deteriorated to the point that he loses to mid-tier guys like Bisping. Losing to Chuck, CC, Hendo, Rampage are not an indication that he is done.

This will be the night we know for sure
If Bis wins, we will know that Wand has indeed deteriorated, because it goes without saying it cant be that Bisping has ascended.
Excellent point.

Hoping the time off and removing all that scar tissue has added some fights and victories under Wand’s belt. However, I see Bisping sticking and moving all night with jabs and kicks and hoping for a decision. Can’t see him standing there and trading.
I AM EASILY BISPINGS BIGGEST FAN AROUND HERE, ESPECIALLY AMERICAN FANS....
bUT WANDERLIE IS GOING TO HURT bISPING!
You're Bisping's biggest American fan but Tony is his biggest overall fan on here by a mile

This is a no win fight for Bisping in the eyes of most people on here, if he wins everyone will say Wandy has deteriorated and is passed his best, if he loses everyone will say Bisping’s not good enough. Give the guy some credit, if he wins he deserves some respect. It’s like people are making excuses already so they don’t have to praise him just in case he wins.
we all know
Whether Bisping wins or loses( most probable ) that Silva is not the “axe murderer” that he use to be.
by PSYQO78 on Jan 26, 2010 11:18 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
I'll give Bisping credit if he wins but if he KOs Wandi then it's time for Wand to hang up the gloves
That would be proof that he’s done because Bisping has never had a lot of power and there’d be no point trying to compete if he’s going to get KO’d that easily. I don’t want Wand to do a Chuck.
"If I could change my name what would it be? Jesus"

While it is fairly clear that Wandy isnt the fighter he once was...
There really is no way he should lose to Bisping. The count simply doesn’t posess the power to KO Wandy, and while his counter punching is ok, I believe Silva will simply be too aggressive. Unlike those predicting a knockout in the first minute, I believe it will happen later in the first round, after he times Bispings backpedal.
Silva surely is past his prime and will lose more fights, but this fight is tailor made for Wandy. Bisping is like Franklin without the smarts, wrestling, strength, or overall skill oplevel. At some point, he will go down.

This is a first, a Bisping quote on this fight that didn't piss me off
The damage is done though, Wand’s pissed and is going to knock Bisping’s head off. Never piss off a wildman like Wand, especially when you don’t have KO power or a great chin. Wand may be past his prime, but he’s still got one more KO left in him, if he can KO Jardine in seconds and take Rich to a close decision then he should have no problem against an overrated arrogant git with no KO power who has never beaten a quality opponent and has been dropped or KO’d by every good striker that he’s faced (and some rubbish ones as well).

Rashad was not a good striker when he fought Bisping. Rashad is a decent striker now but nothing special.

Rashad's improved a lot since that fight, at that point his striking wasn't that great

Thinkin the same thing David
Pretty much every quote Ive read from Bisping on this fight has rubbed me the wrong way. I rail on Bisping fairly often because of his mouth. A buddy of mine chalks up some of the sh!t to “British Sensibilities”, but I think he is just a bit of an ass. This quote actually seems fairly reasonable. Honestly though, if Bisping does not try to take this to the ground like he did with Kang he will end up staring at the rafters. If he does shoot, he better not miss because he does not want a Thai clinch. Dangerous fight for him, don’t see it ending well

British sensibilities haha
That’s priceless. I’m like you, Bisping rubs me the wrong way with his attitude and comments. The fact is he’s a loudmouth who doesn’t back up the talk, at least when Hardy and Semtex talk shit they can back it up.

want wanderlei
But, I’m still not giving him this fight all wrapped up in a pretty lil bow.
I think if (IF!) Michael can outlast the first round onslaught, by any means necessary, the fight will slowli start to sway in his favor due to technicalities. Obviously the easy guess is to say “Wandy 1st round KO”, but I’m seeing it as a 1st round going to Silva and 2nd or 3rd going to Michael with a hard decision on who gets the 3rd round in their favor.
Could see this going the distance in a unanimous decision 2 rounds to 1 for either fighter.

Bisping
Following Bisping’s UFC career from the beginning he has been in trouble in virtually every fight (including Kang, Schafer, Sinosic etc) usually through lack of concentration. History repeats itself unless you work on these deficiencies and I haven’t seen any improvement in that side of his game.
The only way for Bisping to win is not to engage in a stand up war with Wandy because at one point he will get caught as he has done in most fights. So what’s left for him? submission? TD and GNP? don’t see him doing either against Wandy. Bisping will just try to avoid getting knocked out and will hope to win by work rate, just like he did against Leben.
I think the fact he’s had sone confrontation with bisping will give him back his “axe murderer” attitude…look for an early clinch and a vicious flurry of knees then the Brit hits the canvas
by irishlilpete on Jan 26, 2010 10:43 AM EST via mobile reply actions
I hate to say thsi but...
This is going to be the most boring fight ever. Bisping is going to jab and run all fight long. Unless you engage with Wandy, then there is no chance of him KOing Bisping. I want it to happen so bad, but i can see it happenging now…Decision win for the loser Bisping. Wandy will have to get a luck chance to catch him flush.
Nah
Worst case scenario Bisping gets away with it in rd 1, but by mid rd 2 if Wand sense’s he’s losing the urgency will pick up. I hate to see Wand lose ever, but if the crowd starts booing he won’t let it be a boring fight; even at the cost of winning.

Bisping Island yesterday was the shit!!!
bisping can come in with all the confidence he wants ! lets if all that goes out the window when he sees Wand at the stare down across from the cage! bisping can only run for so long before Wand catches him & puts him out! Wand is way the hell quicker & has a hell of a lot more weapons in his arsenal then leben will ever have!
....
Fight of the night for sure. I hope it lasts a while before Bisping ends it
WANDY RIP Bispings going to toy with you then destroy you
he will end it
By sticking his chin out there and getting clipped. Wandi is no Kang when he hurts Bisping he WILL smell the blood and go for the kill.

Tito Ortiz: I think Chuck's lost a step, maybe i've lost a step also, but that's what makes the fight so exciting!
Him and frosnt are going to get a lot of stick when that doesn't happen and Wand wins by KO
I expect the same back if I’m wrong.

BISPING
im guessing 99% of the fans in here that are saying bisping will lose are american. i myself am scottish and its notoriously known that scots and english people dont get on too well. that being said i think bisping will win this fight. but i know wand in his prime would smash him.
I'm English
Bisping is overrated and has nothing that can trouble Wand, his striking lacks power and he regularly gets sloppy and in trouble of being finished. Wand is a lot more aggressive, has devastating punching power and his muai thai clinch is legendary, he’s also got a BJJ black belt and has only been taken down by top grapplers. Wand is a lock in my opinion, nationality doesn’t come into it.
