Report: Joe Riggs vs. Jay Hieron to air live online at EASports.com on Jan. 30
Fear not, fight fans -- the previously untelevised welterweight showdown between rough-and-tumble brawlers, Joe Riggs (32-10) and Jay Hieron (18-4), will air live on EASports.com at 9:05 ET on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010.
Sherdog.com passes along the good news, setting the table for the Strikeforce: "Miami" event slated for the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla., which begins at 10 p.m. ET on Showtime.
That means that at least five bouts will hit the airwaves this weekend on fight night.
Riggs, a former UFC welterweight number one contender, has found success since leaving the Octagon, racking up a solid record (4-1) under the Strikeforce banner. "Diesel" also competed twice in December under smaller promotions, ending both in the first round and capping off the year with an undefeated (3-0) run.
Hieron, on the other hand, went on to stymie UFC washout Jesse Taylor via unanimous decision at Strikeforce: "Carano vs. Cyborg" back in August 2008. He was originally booked to battle Nick Diaz for the vacant welterweight title; however, the Stockton scrapper pulled out of the match on short notice because of issues with the state athletic commission.
"The Thoroughbred" hasn't lost since June 2007 and is probably best known for his reign of terror in the now-defunct IFL and Affliction promotions. Perhaps a win this month (for either man) could set up a potential title fight against the winner of Nick Diaz vs. Marius Zaromskis.
Strikeforce: "Miami" features a main event between Nick Diaz and DREAM Welterweight Champion Marius Zaromskis for the promotion's vacant 170-pound world title. Female powerhouse Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos will put her 145-pound title on the line against Marloes Coenen in the co-featured fight of the night.
In addition, feared K-1 striker "Marvelous" Melvin Manhoef will make his Strikeforce debut opposite the power-punching "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler.

This fight should be on tv!
imo. this fight is far more interesting then a couple of the main card fights. I could care less to see Walker fight, had he been any younger then sure, but whose really interested in seeing him fight 3 times and retire. Even worse if he wins those three fights we might have to listen to him talk about how he could be the greatest ever had he started at a younger age. Also Lashley’s fight is a JOKE. Give the man some real competition, stop trying to slowly bring him along. I hope that Wes lands a nice shit and end the lashley show. at first i liked him but he still has yet to take any real fights imo. and to me that makes me think he isnt taking the sport as seriously as he should.
Riggs and Jay easily is the 3rd best fight on the card, yet on the under-card….. GREAT job strikeforce.
I do a lot of jacking off, ya know, because I don’t get no women, so these arms are, like, humongously big. See it’s workout, and it’s pleasure.._" Charles Bennett

should not be on the undercard.

Good for EA streaming this live
This fight should be on the main card but unfortunately SF are more bothered about putting on squash fights to attract the casual fan, though I’d laugh if Sims and Nagy beat Lashley and Walker.

Tito Ortiz (seriously...)
SIms won’t have a chance but who knows this Nagy guy might actually have a chance. I’ll be looking out for Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal and Van Damme at the next SF event.
fresh like uhh.
Sims has no chance at all but it would be funny if it happened
I’ve never even heard of Nagy so I don’t know whether he’s a legitimate fighter or some random can brought in to give Walker an easy win. If Walker faces anyone decent then he’ll get exposed and smashed in seconds but I don’t know if Nagy is decent or not.

Sweet
I was pretty pissed this was on the undercard when the Herschel Walker spectacle gets on TV so I’m glad there will be some way of catching this fight, I’m expecting a throwdown! I got Riggs in Mac’s pick-em but these were tough fights to pick so not real confident on that but looking forward to seeing it either way.
