We all know that BJ Penn is the most dominate LW in the world. To the point that there is practically no one who can really provide a viable threat to him. But what if BJ were to suddenly vanish? The UFC LW landscape would change dramatically. With that in mind, who would rule the UFC's LW division in a world without BJ Penn? I say we find out, Tournament style...
Below is an 8-Man Single elimination bracket to determine which LW would rule the division. Utilizing numerous independent ranking and taking fighting styles into consideration, I have provided the following opening round seeds:
Quarter Final 1 1 Kenny Florian
8 Takanori Gomi
Quarter Final 2 4 Frank Edgar
5 Joe Stevenson
Quarter Final 3 3 Gray Maynard
6 Tyson Griffin
Quarter Final 4 2 Diego Sanchez
7 Sean Sherk
We will poll each fight individually, for three days, beginning with Quarter Final #1. MMA Mania has the most knowledgable MMA online community so please feel free to post your pick in the comments along with your analysis of how you see the fight breaking down. Hopefully this will give us something to do on slow news days. If all goes well, hopefully we can put together 8-man tournaments for each of the other divisions (minus their current Champions of course).
So lets hear it Maniacs. Who would rule the day, in a world without BJ? Will the favorites move on, or will we see an underdog rise to the top? You decide.
