Ross Pearson vs Dennis Siver expected for UFC Fight Night 21 on March 31

Pearson-siver_medium
The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Season 9 lightweight winner Ross Pearson (10-3) will make his third appearance inside the Octagon when he takes on Dennis Siver (15-6) at UFC Fight Night 21 on March 31 in North Carolina, according to a report from Fighter's Only.

Pearson bulldozed his way through A.J. Wenn, Richie Whitson, and Jason Dent to eventually capture the TUF crown by besting Andre Winner via unanimous decision at the Season 9 Finale in June of last year.

The Team Rough House product is a scrappy 155-pounder with plenty of heart -- and proved he's "The Real Deal" by dominating the heavily-favored Aaron Riley en route to a second round TKO at UFC 105 last November in Manchester.

He'll look to continue his hot streak against the surging German.

Star-divide

Like Pearson, Siver has been electric in his past three fights, perhaps even more so after scoring convincing finishes in all three contests. After a first round strangulation of Dale Hartt at UFC 99 in June 2009, he followed up that performance with a good old-fashioned ass-kicking of Paul Kelly at UFC 105 in November.

Two red hot lightweights, one spot on the ladder. Don't be surprised if this one is in the running for "Fight of the Night."

Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for more details on the still developing UFC Fight Night 21 fight card, including confirmation of the recently announced main event between Kenny Florian and Takanori Gomi.

Siver had a good result in his last fight, which I didn’t see, but from what I have seen of both of them, Pearson should be able to take this one without too much trouble. I know Siver is tough, but Pearson really looked sharp last time around.

Can't Pick This Fight

I dont know who i want to go with in this fight the two of them are wee scrabby bastards. All i know is this will make for a GOOD FIGHT Siver looked good against Kelly and Ross looked shit hot against Riley toss up at best.

They didn't unfortunately

Classic finish, that fight was one of my favourites of the whole night. I love seeing KOs from spinning back kicks.

Totally agree Tony

Want Etim fighting in the US too. Why hasn’t he been on a US card yet?

BTW Ross really surprised me against Riley. His striking, technique and movement improved dramatically. Hope he continues to improve, good test against Siver too

Etim fought in Vegas at UFC 84.

it was vs Clementi i think.

Im going on an upset here and picking Denis Siver. Ross is good and all, but to look that good and not put away an opponent.. it cant be just because Riley was that tough. On the other hand, Siver has finished his last 3 fights in the UFC, 2 by spinning back kick. Although Nate Mohr and Dale Hartt are less than cans, the fact that he KO’d Tellys with a spinning body kick is impressive.’

War Denis Siver

Forgot about that

My bad! BTW, Tellys was TKO’d wasn’t he? He just couldn’t continue

It was a KO to everyone but the retard known as Dan Miragliotta who for some stupid reason expected Kelly to recover from that spinning back kick

That fight should have been stopped immediately, only a moron would have thought that Kelly could continue that spinning back kick was brutal and left Kelly in a broken heap on the floor.

Seen both fight live...

not into Siver at all… but he’s racking up the wins

Hopefully Pearson pounds him out, will be a scrappy fight!!

Supported Pearson Since The Beginning

And I predict another one sided victory. Team Rough House is the new great fighting camp

by theworldismine on Jan 21, 2010 6:48 PM EST reply actions

Same here, Ross is the real deal and Rough House are a superb camp, I'm fans of all of their guys

Good fight this one, I think Ross’ grappling will be too much for Siver but he’s going to have to watch out for Siver’s kicks, he’s finished a couple of people with spinning back kicks so Pearson will have to be careful in the striking.

I'm in too

The lad is from my hometown. The only thing that ever annoyed me was when he got to the TUF final and they did a special on him training in Sunderland before the fight. He took them to the shittiest places known to man and sold the ’It’s grim up north’ story.

That said he’s got great heart and is improving dramatically.

by Shoguns Hairy Forearms. on Jan 22, 2010 3:34 AM EST up reply actions

He should have taken the cameras to Newcastle, nothing grim up here haha

Seriously Ross really impressed me against Riley, his clinch work was excellent and he’s already well rounded. Now that he’s at Rough House the sky’s the limit for Ross, I’m glad that he’s getting another decent test in his next fight.

Didn’t know you were from Sunderland mate, nice to see I’m not the only one on here from the North East.

Spinning back kicks are underrated...

You can pop em out quick and from close range, very powerful when they hit the liver. Check out Benny Urquidez if you want to see some good examples. He really was a legend unlike some of the guys with 5-10 wins that get that title nowadays…
