This is the equivalent of when the WWF started the XFL

Expanding your business into an already crowded industry that you have no experience in because you think your brand rules all.

No its not. XFL was supposed to be a professional league. This is a gym for anyone to go to. They already have brand recognition. I could see lots of people interested in MMA to give this gym a try. Plus more people training in MMA = more fighters for the UFC. Its win win for the UFC and a very smart business move.

I guess Brock Lesnar isn't a real champ, nor Anderson Silva, Matt Hughes, Lyoto Machida,

you would have to be a major UFC fanboy to pay a premium to join a gym just b/c it says UFC on it. you’re right, this gym is for ANYONE, meaning it’s not about producing MMA fighters. it’s about the UFC trying to make more money by slapping their logo on something. it’s basically a UFC-branded CrossFit gym. there are so many MMA gyms around already, if you really want to train MMA, you can do so, especially in any decently populated area, which i assure you is the only place the UFC would consider opening a gym. i’d be shocked if the UFC can staff these gyms with anyone with more qualifications or experience than your average personal trainer/fitness boot camp instructor. if you’re a great MMA instructor, why the hell would you want to work at someone else’s corporate gym as opposed to running your own camps?

Let the douchery begin...

Potential clientele: Overpaid, under talented douches with Tapout tees, Sprawl shorts and an undeserved sense of toughness…. classic.

this is why i don't think it will be successful

i don’t see how this gym won’t be mostly populated with this sort of clientele.

UFC GYM

Actually more than 4500 trainers Nation wide applied to be part of the UFC GYM…including several UFC Fighters. All UFC GYM Trainers are certified by NASM or National Academy of Sports Medicine as well as all of them having several other certifications i.e. CrossFit ect. All trainers were tested vigorously with written tests, verbal tests and an incredible physical test on the last day of 3 crazy hard days of learning. It was pass or fail. Not all made the cut.
These trainers are all the cream of the crop, educated in everything from MMA, BJJ, Wrestling, Judo, CrossFit, Muay Thai, Science/Nutrition…all the cutting edge stuff.
The UFC GYM is unlike any Training Center you’ve ever seen. It is SICK!!! So read up on what the UFC GYM has to offer before making negative uneducated comments. Have you ever known the UFC or Dana to do anything half assed??? Its ALWAYS top notch in the UFC.

You aren’t with the UFC are you??

Don't think feel

I sure am. I left CrossFit after 3+ years and with 4 diff certs under my belt for the UFC GYM. Mostly because I was ready to gain more knowledge and evolve into superior MMA training, But the UFC name and reputation was intriguing as well. Having to study for and take the NASM test was an incredible experience. Freaking Hard core!!
The UFC GYM’s Head Muay Thai/Striking Coach is Alan Maravilla from Cung Le’s camp and the Head BJJ Coach is the “Sheriff of Gracie Baja”…Alexander Crispim.
I’m also Strength/Conditioning/Nutrition/Corner man/Coach for a UFC athlete, and I train him at the UFC GYM.

I have to admit I also thought it might be full of douchbags in affliction shirts…but it is far from that. 3500+ members and ALL are very respectful and are there to learn from the best and work their asses off everyday. It’s really a cool community.

hey Mutt, can you tell us your name and the UFC fighter you train?

I’d like to find out more about the staff (like yourself) at this gym. Thanks.

How many CrossFit or MMA Gyms are open 24/7 ?
And what kind of education do CrossFit trainers have?…answer=zero. You pay $1000 got to a CrossFit Cert, don’t have to pick up a weight if you don’t want to, don’t pass a test of any kind, you can be a total fat ass slob and you are now a CrossFit Certified Trainer…wow. Time to evolve!! UFC GYM is under $100 per month for ALL Acess to any classes anytime.
