This guy sounds like more of a moron every time he opens his mouth.

Comparing Mousasi to Travis Wiuff? Laughable.
Then he says he thinks Mousasi hasn’t been winning on natural talent, but has only been winning because he is smarter and more technical than his opponents. I guess those characteristics dont fall under the criteria for “natural talent”. This coming from a guy whose base salary is only $2K more (at least when he isn’t getting fined for being a moron) than what the UFC was paying Junie Browning for a base. Even Coker knows this guy isn’t worth much and is unproven.
Also, Mousasi isn’t a bloviating, pompous asshole like this guy is. But I’m just a spectator, so what do I know.

Mo is a fighter

So I don’t care if he doesn’t come across as a genius. However, all he has done is fight the opponents he has been given. Everyone says he needs a step up in competition, now he asks for it, and everyone hates. I like his desire and determination. As for his technique and talent argument, I understood it as him saying he is naturally more of a fighter than gegard. Not saying gegard isn’t a good fighter, but mo with more technique and practice COULD be better than gegard, because he is naturally a better athlete/fighter. Lastly, gegard looked a little tired in the sokodjou fight. I know he hit him with everything but still, it was the second round if I remember correct. Mo is a wrestler and could outwork gegard. Not saying he is a genius or THA BEST EVA!!!, just that I can see where he is coming from.

And honestly, I much prefer mo over page, and once mo builds his resume, I think more will agree

Since Lawal has been fighting C,D, and F class fighters

A step up would be a B like Babalu, who he wont fight, or Feijao.

Fightfan's got the right idea

Not everyone is going to be as eloquent as Rich Franklin, The Natural, and Kill-Flow.

I feel like anyone who thinks they are a good judge of character would be able to tell that this guy is being blatantly genuine and sincere.

The fact that he’s calling out the extremely dangerous Mousasi this early in his career speaks volumes, to me anyway.

exactly

As much as I like kenflo, franklin, and others, not everyone is alike and mo seems to be genuine and sincere. Seems to me like all he wants is an opportunity

I'll say this...

…although Mex has a watertight arguement…Mo has better than a punchers chance against Mouassi

True

But Mousasi’s striking is 100 times better than Lawal’s.
He is just trying to hype up a match up between the two, one he isnt ready for and one thats not going to happen in the near future.
I tweeted him and told him his entrances suck, and he replied back trying to compare his to Fedor’s and CroCop’s, and I told him that theirs aren’t retarded, and he pulled that spectator line on me. Must be his go to talking point when he runs out of things to say or has no comeback.

I like King Mo

But he’s not ready for Mousasi yet, I’d rather see him face someone like Soko or Babalu before making the step up in competition. Gegard is a very well rounded opponent and like Mo is the future of the LHW division, right now it’s too early for someone who’s still really just a prospect to beat him. Mo has had it easy so far in his career so throwing him into a huge title fight against a world class opponent is not the thing to do right now, give Mo a chance to improve his skillset and really work his way up before putting on this fight as it could be a huge draw once the public have seen more of Mousasi and Mo. Right now it would be a bit of a mismatch and the last thing that SF need is to have a charismatic undefeated prospect destroyed because they gave him a fight that he wasn’t ready to take. Give him time and this could be a very close and exciting fight.

"Anderson Silva is the best fighter on the planet...any Anderson Silva fight that is on, people should be buying that PPV, not because he’s my fighter but you know what, he to me is like the Muhammad Ali of MMA...the UFC has been around since 1993, nobody (else) has 10 consecutive wins in the UFC. Anderson has had 10 fights in the UFC, only 1 has ever gone to a decision."

I just dont see much to be excited about. Its hard to say someone is exciting and good when they fight crap competition. I can go watch a guy that is a JC basketball player dunk on older, ex college, D-League or CBA players in an exciting fashion all day, doesnt mean he deserves any hype or is an exciting prospect.

by _Felix_ on Jan 2, 2010 2:27 PM EST up reply actions

i agree as well david on some aspects

But for some reason, I believe mo when he says he feels ready. I think he would handle randleman and I have a feeling he would put soko on his back and pound him out. But that remains to be seen (I used them because others had mentioned those matchups). I wouldn’t mind seeing him beat one of those two to potentially “earn” his shor at gegard. But as others have mentioned, the talent pool isn’t too deep and after one more win, two at most, id say it really only leaves gegard.

And on a side note, I don’t think the casual fan would view it as a mismatch depending on how strikeforce hyped it, seeing as they likely have not seen muchof him, or mo for that matter. They care about records, and based on numbers and not necessarily the quality of opponents, the casual fan could potentially view it as two of the best up and comers in the game. And if mo loses badly, it wouldn’t neccessarily be a bad thing. Strikeforce could just say that’s how good gegard is. If mo wins, they can say he’s proved himself by beating one of the top light heavies in the world, and they would probably even say something corny like “the king has captured his crown,” using it as a marketing tool and such. Sorry for the long posts, just my thoughts

That's exactly why they shouldn't be rushing him into big fights.

According to Mexicutioner, if he doesn’t fight a top 10 guy in his first 5 fights, he’ll never amount to anything. Rampage’s first 10 fights looks weaker then King Mo’s first six, so why the hate?

i say

let’s see this fight, who else will mousasi fight?, dan already said he was fighting mw, so throw king in there.
If he wins cool, if not the haters prove him wrong.

Everybody is SAying

That MO isnt ready for Mousasi. But how do you determine that , by how many fights he has had? Its ridiculous Mo is VERY RAW But he still has a VERY GOOD chance to beat anyone especially Mousasi just off of power and Athletiscism. With some more boxing he could be a similar version of Rampage JAckson key word SIMILAR. I think MO is Ready for the BIG DOGS and anyone who thinks different is a moron for real.

PS If u think MO wouldnt finish SOKO faster than MOUSASI your crazy. Mo would absolutely demolish SOKO within seconds. And Im personally not even a MO fan i actually WISH RAMPAGE WOULD KNOCK HIS HEAD OFF. But respect has to be given

By your logic

Ryan Bader would be ready for Mousasi, or even Machida.

Listen

mousasi and machida are two different fighters. mousasi isnt ready in his own right to be compared to Machida face it. what im saying is that Mo and Mousasi are not that far away and Mo is very much a challenge for Mousasi whether you guys want to admit it or not. Give due props to the up and comers Mo is the real deal.

And about Ryan Bader. Be serious theres a line between having a logical argument and you just being ridiculous.

Yeah

and you crossed that line with your moronic argument above.
You can go now.

Soko got KO’d by Minowaman. I don’t think he ever fights again a major promotion.

I hope this doesn’t come off as a "he did it so he can too. But, there is not a lot of people in SF that have Mo’s wrestling credentials. I respect him for trying to get his name out there. His wrestling could be compared to Lesnar, a man who could take down every one in the division except for Hendo. Which I admit remains to be seen. Kinda like carwin and lesnar. So if he can dictate the fight and control on ground he has an awesome chance beating Gregard. Fighters who can take people down at will are pretty dominant in our sport. So good for you Mo for believing in yourself and way to call out the champ. In shows he’s hungry. If I hadn’t seen Lesnar do it first I would say Mo didn’t stand a chance but now that I witnessed a miracle in seeing Lesnar use his wrestling to mash through pure MMA skill I think Mos chances are pretty good. I also think that you should always support someone who believes in themselves. Feel free to flame away at me. :)

His chances are just as good as the african assasins

Yes his wrestling is great but not 100% proven as far as MMA wrestling goes. Whitehead is a solid veteran but he is no were near a mousasi as far as talent goes, I would like to see King Mo fight Sobral next but really with Henderson fighting shields King Mo may be the next best fighter SF has.

he has good people like jason mayhem miller behind him...

watch King Mo and Mayhem dominate strikeforce with mo moving up from his previous weight, and mayhem continuing to be underrated because of his personality…29 fights, only ONE loss by KO and ONE by Sub…Get this guy another fight.

and give mo mousasi…

and sign Aoki.

that is all…oh…find someone to take on that can defeat his lay on you strategy.
