I really had no idea what to write about today, but now I'm seeing that the first opponent for Bobby Lashly got denied a license and that the second named opponent may get denied too. I (and most of you) can probably name at least 10 heavy weights out there that aren't currently fighting, so what seems to be the problem? Tim Sylvia, Jeff Monson or even Ricco Rodriguez I'm sure would step up on short notice! This clown wants to be taken serious and even mention Fedor's name, yet they can't even find a can good enough to get the commission to sanction a fight.
I've been very vocal as a non fan of Brock Lesnar, but at least he went right into the deep end of the pool, and hasn't ever asked for an easy fight (and don't think he ever would). Some people want to compare Lashly to Lesnar, but do we even have to list the differences? UFC was interested in Lashly, he chose strikeforce, Lesnar totally left WWE and put his full efforts into MMA, Lashly (from what I hear) is still involved with TNA and of course the most obvious difference, strikeforce can't even find a can worthy enough to be able to fight Lashly, where as Lesnar has fought top 5 guys time and again (maybe not Herring, but he's a legend).
I for one am realy thinking strikeforce is going about their whole business model wrong lately, I mean Herschel Walker on the main card is like having Kimbo Slice as a co main event on a OPPV (something the UFC would make him earn, Bobby Lashly fighting anyone on a main card is wrong at this point and having a woman's match on a main card IMO is lame. The only fight worth mentioning on this Card is the Diaz fight, and they don't even market him right. Add to that the fact that they can barely afford Fedor and probably over paid Hendo, and it really makes me wonder about strikeforce these days.
On a side note, the April show is looking good, and I'm hoping and praying it'll be in San Jose, I'd pay a lot of money to see Fedor, Mousassi and Shields/Hendo all on the same card, not to mention they will more than likely add Diaz to this card, it makes me excited! I'm an mma fan, not UFC only, but this strikeforce card this month really leaves a lot to be desired!
