Report: Kimbo Slice next fight against Matt Mitrione at UFC 113

Kimbo_ufc_pic_medium

UFC 113, which is scheduled for the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on May 1, 2010, could feature the pay-per-view (PPV) debut of Spike TV/CBS ratings monster, Kimbo Slice, according to FiveOuncesofPain.com.

Although unconfirmed at this time, Slice is expected to take on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 10 castmate, Matt Mitrione, in a potentially hard-hitting heavyweight attraction.

More on this breaking news in a bit.

UFC 113 features the much-anticipated rematch between 205-pound division champion, Lyoto Machida, defending his belt against fellow Brazilian Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in the main event of the evening.

Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for more on the still-developing Montreal fight card.

If Dana was in the Kimbo business he'd put him up against Jardine.

He should also force him to fight at LHW where he has a small chance of dictating where his fights take place against smaller fighters. This is a joke of a matchup and Kimbo is most likely going to have big trouble winning.

I don't know about u guys'

I wanna see this fight…. ‘what’?… Did u think Kimbo was gonna’ make a run at the title?… HAHAHAHAHA! not…. c’mon’ this is undercard entertainment… Yeah’ Kimbo should fight at 205lbs… but u saw his attitude… he doesn’t have a weight cutter’s mentality… he likes to get his ‘grub on’…this is a good fight for both recent TUF winners.

Iagree

ON both accounts, I like thi match up and think Mattrione is better! I really like it!

I think Mimbo re-aggravates Meathead’s concussion. And if this is on a PPV card it had better be the opening fight and not a co-main event.

They got Page/Shad and Shogun/Machida

I doubt Kimbo is in a co-main event fight.

Love to see Kimbo win, but...

he won’t. What then? It the UFC wanted to keep him marketable, they’d just put him up against other strikers with zero ground game.

Me too!!!

I had enough of Mitrione’s snifling on TUF. He is not into training and being as good as he can be. He just wants his size to carry him as far as it will!!!

Kos vs Daley added also isn’t it?? Some serious fights lined up for Montreal.

Crazy good card and will actually be worth the 59.99 they charge for PPV...

Although most of the fights have not been finalized, here is the current card in the works:

Machida vs. Rua
Rampage vs. Evans
Koscheck vs. Daley
Cote vs.Belcher
TJ Grant vs. Hicks
Jeremy Stephans vs. Sam Stout
Kimbo vs. Mitrione (the worst fight on the card)
Goulet vs. Marcus Davis

by Da Monkey on Jan 17, 2010 9:59 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah, looks good

But they always bring good cards to Montreal. At least as far as name value goes. Kimbo had better not be on the televised portion. They can’t leave Stout on the under card after his last fight. I think “the Heathen” is a step down from Joe Lauzon.

It is a championship rematch and 2 fights that set up contenders I believe...

Rampage vs. Evans and Kos. vs. Daley have to have contender implications. Daley is working his way through the ranks and Kos never got a shot at the belt only the 3 round match before GSP fought Serra the second time. If I remember correctly, Kos actually did not do to bad and sustained very little damage, in comparison to the beating that Fitch took.

I can only wonder what the main event will bring. I imagine they both are going to want to come out with a, “I gotta finish this fight!” mentality after all the backlash from the first fight.

I'm gutted that once again a huge fight involving a British fighter is being used on a stacked card outside of this country

It doesn’t look good for UK fans wanting to see a big event, they haven’t announced anything and all of our stars are all set for the biggest fights of their lives. I’d be happy to see any of GSP-Hardy, Semtex-Kos and Wandi-Bisping main event a British card but once again we get shafted, we haven’t even got to see Semtex fight live on a British UFC card yet.

It looks like our next show will be in London, though Semtex did mention that there could be a Fight Night in Nottingham with him and Kos in the main event before they agreed to fight in Montreal. I hope something gets announced soon because at this rate the next UFC card I’ll be going to will be a Vegas one in 2011 for my 21st.

my thoughts exactly. I fucking knew Kimbo was gonna be on a PPV main card but everyone was saying, no it’s ok he’s only going to be on UFNs and TUF Finales. I mean, how can you consider a sport legitimate when Kimbo Slice is on your maincard of a PPV, which is supposedly reserved for the very top talent.

Imagine how the fighters feel, they have to secretly hate this guy....lol

In all seriousness though, it must kill fighters inside, that the sport they adore and train day in, day out, year after year to try get a brake and the respect they deserve and never can and then Kimbo is on the same card as TOP CLASS fighters, and better fighters on the under-card!!

Brendan Schaub pretty much summed up what fighters think of Kimbo when he first arrived on TUF

“Fuck that guy”. Can’t stand Kimbo, he has no skills yet keeps getting promoted as if he’s some sort of bad arse and people still keep watching him. Unfortunately this fight is guaranteed to be on the main card and truly deserving guys like Stout and Hendricks are going to be stuck on the prelims as a result.

Hey Mania!!

hated mitrione during the show as many people probly did but his comments after his win made me kind of turn it around a bit. But il still be rooting for Kimbo!!

by Wingblade on Jan 16, 2010 8:51 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Mitrione should have been kicked off of TUF 10

He ruined the last part of the season, which was in my opinion the worst TUF season to date!!!

by chukkie on Jan 17, 2010 12:43 PM EST up reply actions

If I was Rashad I'd have kicked him off the team as soon as he started acting as if he didn't want to fight

Still it was funny seeing Kimbo go on and on and on about wanting to fight again then making up a load of dodgy excuses for not competing. He ended up being as bad as Meathead.

kimbo wins

Matt sucks he gasses eaarly and really has no skill on the ground or the feet. Wait Kimbo has no skill on the ground or on the feet. To crappy boxers going at it. I think Kimbo is faster so he wins but who cares they both suck.

by hatteras on Jan 16, 2010 9:30 PM EST reply actions

Agree!!!

But at least with Kimbo there is a chance of seeing something happen! Mitrione just stands flat footed in front of his opponent and does nothing but look like he doesn’t belong in the Octagon!!

by chukkie on Jan 17, 2010 12:46 PM EST up reply actions

Hopefully this doesn't last long

I can’t stand either of them, Mitrione is gutless and a coward who spent the whole of TUF bitching about made up injuries. The fact that he submitted without any real resistance to McSweeney and ended Junk’s career with an eye poke makes me hate the guy even more, plus he has no cardio and is nothing more than a failed NFL player trying to brawl.

As for Kimbo I’ve made my feelings on him and his hype pretty clear. I don’t care who wins, as long as it’s exciting and doesn’t waste too much PPV time, if it doesn’t end quick then expect another sloppy mess like Kimbo-Houston and Mitrione-Junk.

Unfortunately this fight is guaranteed to be on the main card as Kimbo is a big draw and the UFC are desperate for PPV buys right now after the recent disastrous numbers for 106 and 108.

50/50 imo. Kimbo is faster but Mitrione has freaky power. Good matchup, Joe.

This will be a fun match. Both these guys will never be champions. A win over Kimbo makes Mitrione marketable as a midcard gate keeper. And THAT makes it easy for the UFC to feed highlight reel finishes to the guys who are in line for a titleshot. Which they need for UFN/TUF Finale main events or to use as co main events when there’s no title fights on the PPVs.

by manof34holds on Jan 16, 2010 11:49 PM EST reply actions

Mitrione will probably try to take this to the ground. Better safe than sorry and hands is all Kimbo has. His ground game didn’t look that great even against Houston Alexander sooo I think this is going to be a fight that Kimbo just won’t win. Hope he proves me wrong.

No interest.

I really don’t care to see kimbo or matt fighting.

There’s only 2 people I’d like to see from that show again, Brendan and James McSweeny. They’d both bring some excitement to the heavyweight division. Kimbo vs matt doesn’t interest me in the slightest.

I reckon mitrone, unless kimbos mastered his ground game

The rest of the card looks pretty good tho.

Kimbo Vs Buentello

Mitrione is a horrible choice for Kimbo to fight , he still needs to take baby steps in the UFC since his ground game is garbage. Now Paul Buentello is still a very tuff dude and he also has a terrible ground game . I think this fight would be awesome especially since Paul is back in the UFC . Kimbo Vs Buentello could be a main event in my eyes like on a Fight night or something , not so much a pay per view, but maybe.

by ScaryLarryV on Jan 17, 2010 2:12 PM EST reply actions

Kimbo-Buentello shouldn't main event anything

Both of them are garbage, I’ve never rated either of them and neither are relevant in the HW division, though at least Buentello has had to earn his spot and has fought some top opposition which is more than I can say about Kimbo. Again that fight would be exciting if it ended quick but if both guys brawled past the early rounds then expect them to both gas out.
