MMA Quick Quote: Murilo Bustamante wants to return to fighting in 2010
“Surely it cheers me up. I have got plans of fighting in 2010 and let’s see how it will work. I’m preparing myself, I’m in Brazil also to train and get into the pace. We’re studying proposals and let’s see what happens. There’s nothing set but I have been training to fight whereas last year I didn’t have the time to prepare properly, just training with kimono and giving classes.”
-- Former UFC champion Murilo Bustamante is back in Brazil from United States where he has expanded the Brazilian Top Team headquarters. The veteran explains Renzo Gracie’s return to the action excites him to also get back in the saddle in 2010. But can the 43-year-old -- who defeated Dave Menne in 2002 to capture the 185-pound belt and then defended it once (Matt Lindland) before bolting to the "Land of the Rising Sun" -- still compete at the highest level or has the sport passed him by after more than two years on the sidelines?

Murilo was good in his day, he was very unlucky not to get the decision over Rampage in the Pride MW GP and has faced some top guys
But it’s too late for him now, at 43 and after a long lay-off it’s too late for him to make a big impact, he’ll probabaly only get a fight in a smaller show as I don’t see the UFC, Dream of SF signing him up at this point.
"Anderson Silva is the best fighter on the planet...any Anderson Silva fight that is on, people should be buying that PPV, not because he’s my fighter but you know what, he to me is like the Muhammad Ali of MMA...the UFC has been around since 1993, nobody (else) has 10 consecutive wins in the UFC. Anderson has had 10 fights in the UFC, only 1 has ever gone to a decision."
Ed Soares on why Andy is the best fighter in the world
It's a shame most people won't know what he represented in MMA
He was the GSP of his generation. Technical brilliance of the highest level. Most badass dude to fight out of Carlson Gracie Fight team. His fights tell the story rather than his record. BE has an awesome writeup on his fight with Tom Erikson as part of their MMA history articles. Definitely too old now though…(sigh)

Noobies say what?
Hahaha this post is only relevant to UFC fans of the past decade. I’d personally like to see him make a return to the UFC just because of who he is, but I don’t think he stands a chance to ever win a belt.
