As a fight fan I can't help but think that things within the UFC are reaching a level of the absurd that we haven't seen since UFC 1 and Teila Tuli. When Dana holds Kimbo Slice, an ageing street fighter with arthritis and a very basic skill set, in higher regard than Dan Henderson, a wrestler who competed for his country in the olympics, TWICE, and a former two weight pride champion with wins over minotauro, babalu, Vitor Belfort, Wanderlei Silva, Akihiro Gono etc.
But am I just being naive? As a fight fan I don't see why I should care about PPVs and and marketable fighters, but on the flip side, without those things the UFC wouldn't put on the great fights that it does. Do I have the right to grumble? Or as fight fans should we just take what we're given and be happy to dance to Zuffas tune?
