UFC fighter salaries and paydays for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 10 Finale

The official fighter purses for those who competed at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 10 Finale this past Saturday night (Dec. 5) from the "The Pearl" at The Palms Resort and Casino were released earlier today by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).
As expected, main event participants and UFC veterans Matt Hamill and Frankie Edgar were the big earners of the night, pulling in $46,000 apiece for taking home the "W" for their winning performances -- though in Hamill's case it was the result of a controversial disqualification of Jon Jones.
Ultimate Fighter 10 contestant Kimbo Slice, who was bounced out of the competition by eventual series winner Roy "Big Country" Nelson, raked in a flat fee of $25,000. More than his fellow reality show cohorts, but a far cry for the days of wine and roses in Elite XC.
Also bringing in some decent coin was Brian Stann and Mark Bocek. Each fighter laid claim to $30,000 for outlasting their opponents as part of the evening's under card action..
Here is the complete list of the TUF 10 Finale payouts:
Brendan Schaub: $8,000
Nelson defeated Schaub via KO (punch) Round 1
Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson: $25,000 (no win bonus)
Houston Alexander: $13,000
Frankie Edgar: $46,000 ($23,000 to show, $23,000 to win)
Matt Veach: $5,000
Matt Mitrione: $16,000 ($8,000 to show, $8,000 to win)
Marcus Jones: $8,000
James McSweeney: $16,000 ($8,000 to show, $8,000 to win)
Darrill Schoonover: $8,000
Jon Madsen: $16,000 ($8,000 to show, $8,000 to win)
Justin Wren: $8,000
John Howard: $14,000 ($7,000 to show, $7,000 to win)
Dennis Hallman: $15,000
Brian Stann: $30,000 ($15,000 to show, $15,000 to win)
Rodney Wallace: $6,000
Mark Bocek: $30,000 ($15,000 to show, $15,000 to win)
Joe Brammer: $5,000
Keep in mind the salaries listed above do not include fight bonuses, sponsorships, percentages and other unofficial payments. It also does not include deductions for expenses such as insurance, taxes, etc.
For example, the UFC often hands out extra cash for "Fight of the Night," "Knockout of the Night" and "Submission of the Night." To check out these figures for the TUF 10 Finale go here.
The total base fighter payroll for the Spike TV event, which attracted an official crowd of 1,400 attendees and a live gate of $504,350, was $351,000.

man how do guys like Matt Veach survive? I know he might be getting sponsor money but common.
I make more money in a couple months working part time at Home Hardware like thats just ridiculous. The UFC generates so much profit it is insane. Regardless of what anybody says a guy training for months and months and then leaving it all in the cage like Veach does, deserves more money than that.
I don’t want to hear the argument, it’s his choice to fight etc…whatever thats arbitrary, the real problem is the low payment to guys like Veach that give 110% every fight.
agreed
I thought we were past the 5000 paydays in the big leagues. I truly hope that they are collecting more in undisclosed bonuses etc.
he did snag fight of the night which helped him.
dude.....i am
agreed all around
and i think that would be a great fight. Veach is a huge lightweight, it would be interesting to see if Maynard could bully him around, Veach had some BIG slams on Edgar. But we all now Gray is as powerful as they come in the division. Maybe it would come down to a boxing match, Gray has been trying to utilize his boxing more and more in his fights.
For some reason i would just love to see Veach beat the hell out of Gray, that guys due for an ass beating.

Spot on, it’s the lesser names like Veach who deserve to be paid more, $5,000 is nothing. The top fighters get paid a lot and MMA doesn’t need to compare itself to other sports pay wise as most of them overpay their sports stars anyway, but the lower ranked guys have to at least be able to make a good living from the sport. Unfortunately low salaries are the price that these fighters have to pay if they’re going to compete on free cards, as the big money is made in PPV. It’s hard to get a fair balance between keeping the consumer happy by not overcharging and providing some free fights as well as PPV, whilst at the same time allowing the fighters to make a decent living doing a very tough job without overpaying them like they do in other sports.
agreed, David
I think it’s absurd that we argue over whether these 6-figure guys get paid enough when there are still guys making less than $5000/fight (less than 20,000 a year) with no health insurance in “the NFL of MMA”. They’re professional athletes in the major leagues of a multi-billion dollar industry but if they don’t get 4 fights/year they’re below the poverty line and they dont work/train any less than the headliners .
If that’s all that Kimbo won… Heck, even if he earned three times that amount undisclosed… Kimbo has been a heck of a lot more profitable for the UFC than Brock Lesnar.
The driver of the Lesnar War Wagon/engineer of the Brock Pain Train begs to differ with you.
Good times and riches and son of a bitches
I've seen more than I can recall.
and plus kimbo could never do a shooting star press...
off the top rope at wrestlemania…land on his head and stand up like nothing happened and still pick up kurt angle like a little toy..
jake shields is the highest ranked fighter to have never fought i highly ranked fighter...i cant wait till hendo signs to strikeforce and murders that talentless waste of flesh
Lesnar is a much more talented fighter, has beaten top fighters and has main evented 2 of the biggest selling PPVs in UFC history in his last 2 fights, both of which did over a million buys. Kimbo has fought a couple of times on free TV. No matter how much Lesnar is paid it’s unquestionable that he’s been worth every penny, he’s the biggest star in MMA these days if you judge that on the basis of PPV sales.
5k is nothing but there’s probably more sources for money than just that guaranteed sum from a fight.. But honestly, in the world we live in, only a few get to start from the top (salarywise and other..). Should a guy with no name who loses his debut be given more than what is the minimum he agrees on?
Kimbo probably could’ve gotten a lot more than 25k even on a smaller organization. He really does want to compete, I guess.
Cant be said enough
Kimbo and Houson are both jokes and an embarrasment to the sport.
Houson should have been let go along time ago but they kept the punk around and paid him to lose to Kimbo before he was cut.
Fcking ahole.
wow they gave him the fockin win bonus too.
that money situation just angers me more about the outcome of that fight. I’m not saying Bones should have got it, nobody should have got it. Definitely should have been a no contest.
