"I hate interim titles. I think it’s stupid. It’s retarded. It’s confusing to fans. Let [Lesnar] keep the belt [until he can fight again], or go ahead and put it away. Either he can defend it, or he can’t. If he can’t defend it in a year, strip him of the title. I’ve lived on both sides of it. If we can avoid it, let’s avoid it."
Former interim heavyweight champion Frank Mir thinks interim titles are retarded. He tells Sherdog.com that the division is strong enough to wait until its undisputed champion, Brock Lesnar's, fight future is more clear. Agree or disagree, Maniacs?

if its any real extended period of time, let there be an interim belt. if its just a few months let Brock keep it and defend it when he’s back to fighting condition.
I agree with Frank. If he can’t fight within a year, strip him. seems logical. Interim titles are a bit pointless in my opinion since, like he said, it’s confusion to most fans who aren’t ‘hip’ to mma and just watch it because their buddies do.

Interim titles are for the birds
I agree 100% with frank interims are a total waste of time, give lesnar time to heal and then strip him if it’s absolutely necessary. And speaking of defending titles, how long has it been since the MW title was defended? We may get to a yr b4 that belt gets defended.

Interim titles are lame
All they do is secure an actual title shot for the interim champ. They’re annoying. And I also believe that champs should be stripped if they don’t defend in a certain amount of time. Strikeforce has had that prob several times.

Agree with Frank 100 percent. Give him a year then if
Necessary strip him, otherwise leave the
“Interim” aka “number 1 contender” out of it.

but then the ufc can't have an extra big pay per view
when they decide who the real champ is.

Mir didn’t seem to mind being the interim champion, honestly I agree with his points but this comes across as typical Mir jealousy, the guy is so bitter that Lesnar thrashed him and laughed in his face. Considering Lesnar’s poor health it seems like a low move for Mir, I doubt that he’d have been too happy if AA and Sylvia had have complained back when he was out injured after his motorbike accident.
Lesnar should be stripped if he can’t defend the belt anytime soon, but if he is set to recover and still has a future fighting then I say he should keep the belt and face the Big Nog-Cain winner in a unification title fight, as long as there is a recognised HW champion defending the belt in 2010 then I’ll be happy with the situtation. Interim belts are a necessary evil and should only be used to keep the top contenders busy whilst giving the champion time to recover, if there’s a huge gap between fights then the belt should be vacated.
Agree
If he can’t defend it within a certain time frame, it should be taken away… however, when he comes back, he should automatically be the number 1 contender.

Mir lost his belt due to an injury
Mir had to give the belt up when he got hit by a car. Lesnar will not be back in a year if ever. July would make a year since he had a match. It will be t least Nov of 2010 before Brock is in the cage again. Carwin, Cain, Nog and Dos Santos should have a mini tournament to see who the number 1 guy is going to be. Let big country fight rothwell or herring. Gonzaga vs Kongo/Mir winner. Wow the HW is deep for a change.
HW fights i wanna see
Dos Santos vs Cain V.
Gonzaga vs Herring
Nog vs Carwin
Nelson vs Rothwell
Mir vs Kongo
Kimbo vs Schaub
