UFC Undisputed 2010 to be unveiled at the Spike TV Video Game Awards (VGA) on Dec. 12

UFC Undisputed 2010, the sequel to the 2009 version of the popular mixed martial arts video game from THQ, is expected to be unveiled at the Spike TV Video Game Awards (VGA) next Saturday, Dec. 12, beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
Spike TV GTTV host Geoff Keighley announced the news via his official Twitter account.
UFC President Dana White first announced 'UFC Undisputed 2010' back in May, and it's not unreasonable to think that THQ has upped the ante in this new version in response to the pending debut of Electronic Arts "EA Sports MMA."
Competition breeds excellence and with two major publishers vying for a very specific market, the fans choice for their digitized butt-kicking could depend on just the slightest of variables.
Will average gamers gravitate towards the THQ sequel because of the UFC roster -- even if EA produces a superior product with lesser known fighters?
While it's too early to tell which publishing house will deliver the more realistic (and ultimately more enjoyable) game, it will be interesting to see how many gamers EA can snag without the UFC brand (though they do have the license to Randy Couture's likeness).
‘UFC Undisputed 2009′ was the first video game for the promotion since Ultimate Fighting Championship: "Sudden Impact" back in 2004 — five very long years. Fortunately for fans it won't take nearly as long for the sequel.
For those of you who purchased the 2009 debut effort and have been playing consistently, now is the time to sound off: What changes or improvements would you like to see for 2010?
Let your voice be heard!

Hmmmm
I sold my 2009 game after 3 months. Wasn’t that fun anymore. Change everything

I'm still playing mine
Needs more subs to be added for one. More of their roster needs to be added too
They need to
-fix attributes; I’m tired of getting rubber guarded by Saunders and Irvin, seiously, what’s up with that?
-make it easier for subs against the computer
-more Goldie saying weird stuff and Rogan correcting him.
Lets start with
CPU vs CPU… would add greatly to the durability of this game, let me sim upcomng cards and watch the fights
Entrances… walkouts wth music you can upload from itunes
Deeper Career Mode… age during your career
Career with real fighters… not only wth a created fighter
Better CAF’s… 2009 had very limited options with this
Much Needed
They need to have both clinch and ground moves up against the cage, even having a limb or body part on the cage the referee will give you a warning. Also using the cage in the clinch is much needed to use more brutal moves to damage your opponent and make the game more realistic (fighters usually clinch against the cage instead of the middle). Also full entrances would be nice with custom tracks from you PC, have authentic entrances into the cage like Rashad Evans climbing the steps with his hands like in real life. Last but not least a overhaul in the career mode, you should be able to move up and down weight and also it shouldn’t be so hard to build your fighter up.
can`t wait
i play ufc more than mordern warfare 2
hmm
i traded my ufc for modern warfare 2. ufc’s online game play sucked.
to the death, georges.
there is just no way
the world’s best sports game creator is going to have a worse MMA game than THQ. I have UFC 09 for the ps3 and the game is mediocre at best.
Its there first time having anything to dowith a mma game ever
It wont be better then the ufc’s second game…..and i have played crapy easports games before……….like nba live the last 4 years
Best sports game creator?
The quality of EA-produced games have gotten progressively worse over the last few years. The success of their current sports franchises depends heavily on their exclusive game licenses; 2K makes a considerably better basketball game, and produced a competitive football game until EA purchased exclusive NFL rights; Pro Evo competes extremely well with FIFA despite owning the rights to significantly fewer Clubs and Leagues, and EA has left the baseball market all together. Because EA will never secure an excuse license with the UFC, it will have a smaller roster of fighters that will be less appealing to casual fans.. The frat boy niche of casual MMA fans won’t run out to buy EA’s MMA game so that they can play as Nick Diaz or Jake Shields.

ea only moved away from baseball because 2k sports has rights to MLB
but ea sports had amazing baseball games…..MVP games were so crazy and that was back for ps2 and stuff……..also i hated 2k football games but i really think they are going to need a year to adjust the games problems and then come out with a very good game. That is the only reason i think ufc will be far superior when the 2 games release because it will be on its second game and will know all the problems from the first and learn from them
EA hockey is wicked but as far as football the only reason it's a must buy
is because they have the players rights their Madden game has been getting average ratings with little improvements since the players signing, and I’ve been playing madden since the NEC days I believe back in 94. Don’t get me wrong it’s a good game but it’s pretty much the same game I’ve been playing with different players and little improvement since they got the players signing. Infact the last football game to get rated higher than 4 out of five or 9 out of 10 by the major video game reviewers such as IGN & Gamespot was the last 2K title.

Madden was worse this year than last year. The graphics were better. Gameplay was the same but each year the Franchise and other modes get more dumbed down and worse and worse.
are you retard?
There franchise is better then ever….and this is the first year they had an online franchise……to say madden was better last year you must be dumb
When calling someone retarded you probably should actually use the correct form of the word. What was better about this years franchise other than online franchise? You have actually lost front office options in the last few years. They keep stripping stuff away from it. Options when signing or trading don’t get any better year to year it is a very dumbed down attempt at trying to give you control.
How about Superstar mode? That is horrid this year.
ever watch the movie the hangover? that is what re tard is from
The franchise was deeper because you could buy things online that made it so you could progress your players faster , get a better medical staff and a few more….They had fantasy drafts back in the game also
Madden opening quarter sales are down 10% from last year
I have madden and played hard for a month or two, but lately one or two games a week is the most I have played infact have played undisputed more still. Undisputed has a great base and if they build off of it can be one of the best games of the year once again.

Diaz and Shields are 2 of my favourites
I’m looking forward to the EA game, I’ll be very happy playing with the likes of Nick and Jake. If EA can build on their success with Fight Night and improve on the failings of Undisputed 09 then this game could end up being very good. I’ll end up buying both anyway.
Depending on how good the graphics are…..
Shields backne will glisten as the zits pop (does he come with complimentary staph too….or will it be an extra you can purchase online?)
I’m assuming Diaz will come with his trademark lame attitude and pissy scowl. After a fight that you win with Diaz, will he do a postfight shitting on the other persons camp? Hope there is no drug testing before a match either…..that would suck!
Just poking fun ;-)
True that ChiBears34
The quality of NBA Live has progressively decayed at an exponential rate that it really gets blown away by 2K10

A better Career mode.
I was expecting to be able to play the career mode as an actual UFC fighter.

Also
There was way to much auto saving…..I didnt even want to spar just because of the time it takes to save after you doit………also they NEED to improve there online because if they have a screw up like they did when it first came out that will just be rediculous ………..I get quit on over 100times and then they get the patch and it says my dnf% was like 50% and nobody would ever fight me in a ranked match again
-Yea There needs to be much less auto saving! And they could implement some new guys to fight after your champ! You end up fighting the same 4 guys like 20 times after you become champ!
-As JRE said i would like to be able to fight in career mode as a ufc fighter!
-They should let you clinch and hold a guy against the fence. They should have more submissions.. And it should be easier to sub the computer, you have to beat a good guy half to death to catch a sub.
-Muay thai skrikers and boxers should be able to throw head kicks or atleast learn them for the boxers! and vice versa boxers should be able to learn the muay thai clinch and so on.
by ItsNormlToSmokePot on Dec 6, 2009 4:37 PM EST up reply actions
they should..
let your fighter move up and down in weight during your career so you can have more fights against newer compatition and maybe even hold more then 1 belt at a time
LOL maybe it will be kimbo!!
I bet he will be in the game though.

More Improvements
I would love if they accumalted some instant replay knock outs from previous bouts and used it to form highlight reels for the figther as they progress through the season.
Full entrances for championship matches
More realistic damage taken, limping, swelling and sluggish punches once exhausted.
Random computerised characters to help fill out various divisions and simulate new talent, this should help with the issue of fighting the same guy multiple times.
Aging of fighters
I def agree with more realistic damage, it would put a whole new spin on the game if someone could not take someone down because their legs have been to beat up by leg kicks.
I don’t know if you can already do this in 2009 because I haven’t played any career mode but it would be cool to be able to, if you are a dominate champion, have an option to move up in weight like Anderson has done and GSP is considering.
Simple improve the 2009 version wich was the best MMA game made to date
I’ll be interested in seeing how EA makes their version but I can’t see it being close to undisputed. EA has really went down hill with their Madden football title with little improvement since they signed the NFL players exclusive deal I almost gaurantee being a Madden player since the super NEC days the NFL 2K title wich was making leaps and bounds in improvements would have had me changed if they were still able to use the NFL players in their game.
As far as THQ goes they just need to make a deeper smoother all around game. Like Fight night the online play is glitchy I hope they find a way to improve that but even EA who has had fight night around for sometime still has the same issues. For the first title Undisputed was a great game that I still play here and there, but at the same time you can see much room for improvement and I’m sure they will address most ofthe issues gamers had with it. All in all a improved version of 2009 with the current UFC fighters will be awsome as well it would be wicked if they added Pride fights and past characters from the UFC and Pride in the game.
Yo
When are they going to come out with a new Yars Revenge or Mighty Bomb Jack?
@fjbar75 on twitter...formerly El Mexicutioner
Sort the menu system...
It was bloody awful. It’s was sooo much effort to add sponsors that I just stopped.
I think an instant replay option would be good where you can zoom in rotate etc.
More variation in peoples fight styles.
Both of these companies better realise how important their demo’s are gonna be. Especially EA if they can impress early they might win people over, but if THQ get in there 1st there’s not gonna be too many people changing over, especially without the UFC brand.
EA are generally better at producing quality time and time again, but without the UFC brand, they’ll struggle.
Gameface could be interesting for fighting
Undisputed 2009 was a huge success
The one aspect THQ has over EA is they have dealt with the grappling controls and feel for some time with their wrestling games. In the end though the game realism is what is going to win fans over more than anything and unless EA title is way better than the THQ with no UFC roster THQ will run the MMA video game market. Even though I support EA with hockey and football games I feel it’s good they taste their own medicine, the NFL 2K series was starting to look good and gain popularity and a few years ago the peaple in charge at EA said MMA was not a sport and were not interested in making a MMA video game ……THQ selling 1.5million plus games sure changed their minds lol.
How about some of you guys
stop guessing what you think EA MMA will be like, and refer to one of the many previews that say it’s in a different universe than that of undisputed… I was a huge fan of undisputed when it came out, but as you play it you realize how simple and rushed the game is, and how online mode requires no strategy, more like just button mashing. the animations are fucking terrible, and everything is just bad. EA MMA will make undisputed look like a total piece of crap.
allrighty
http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2009/11/11/1126761/ea-sports-mma-demo-review
and some quotes as well
With that said…EA Sports MMA is light years ahead of UFC Undisputed.
It’s hard to even compare the two games, they almost look like they were designed for two completely different consoles.
This game is going to be huge. Massive. Bigger than what we speculated when we wrote our ’It’s time to get amped up for EA Sports MMA’ article in September.
if you need me to inform you about anything else you could easily look up yourself, just give me a shout ;)
Wooh someone has there panties tied in a knot LOL

By the way the way the game plays is going to determine how good it is not by the looks
wich both look great. As far as being huge I don’t think the EA roster is deep enough to out sell last years undisputed. Besides Fedor and Gegard there is not a top five fighter in any weight class. It’s a safe bet that undisputed will out sell EA but if you are right Hendo with your bold prediction based off the EA trailers that do look good as most trailers do the end result will be how well the complete package works and if EA does not surpass the gameplay of THQ they will be losing money this year anyway.
by BeaverRaider on Dec 6, 2009 11:26 PM EST up reply actions
Your comparing ea sports mma with the first ufc undisputed
But It will be competing with the new ufc undisputed 2010 witch we wont see a sneek peek until december 18th at the video game awards on spike
which lets be honest
prlly wont change that much from the last game.
by Hendo_One-Shot on Dec 6, 2009 11:57 PM EST up reply actions
honestly.....
ill wait till the game comes out and not just judge on a commercial or a screen shot like some douchebag’s do
well if you actually know anything about games
you’d know that the tiny bit of footage and screenshots they have of EA MMA, coupled with the previews written by people that have seen the demo, lets you know that what they showed of EA MMA is in fact gameplay, as opposed to the early ufc 09 undisputed previews where they showed straight up CG animation and claimed it was gameplay, which is most likely what they’ll do this year, again. and unless they do something drastic in the year or so they have to improve the game (which history shows as never having happened) then it will be killed by EA mma. I don’t see how anyone who knows anything about halfway decent games could possibly say that 2010 will be better than MMA. 2010 will be the same as the UFC, getting more buys because of hype more than because of the actual product (except rather than it actually being better than its competitors, it will be worse) and this is coming from the biggest ufc fan you’ll find.

And
someone fails at posting pics. people questioning what you say w/o even searching certainly isn’t bright. but i see that you’re just spam commenting ufc defender so you win.
nice continuation on your rampant comments
but I don’t even feel its necessary to bring up the roster or the fact that undisputed will probably sell more, seeing as I have a brain and actually judge games based on their gameplay not their success. and by the console reference I think he was meaning to say that It looks better graphically and physics, animation, and depth of gameplay wise, not just graphically. but you’re obviously someone just trying to get your name on this board as often as possible so feel free to reply to this several times with your whole message as the title so it’s bolded.

Undisputed 2009 was ok... not awesome
I just hope they actually try to improve the game.. and add more to it after a while undisputed 2009 can become really BOORING!
Improving the online gameplay
As far as being boring I guess it depends if you play by yourself. When ever the buds come over we usually get a few games in and online you need to make sure your playing against a good connection that will still be slightly choppy but not near as bad. Undisputed had great reviews from every major video game magazine and as good as EA game may be the lack of popular fighters will be a huge draw back not everybody likes CAF. IF you think I’m falling into the UFC hype Hendo? Your right the UFC is simply the best so stop being a rebel and realize the truth it’s right in front of you, just cause EA makes a game that looks pretty doesn’t mean sh^t they have made many shitty games with great graphics.
The Fight Nights have been great games in the past
which gets me excited about EA.
I would like to see the ground game tightened up a bit, its very choppy and robotic. I would like to see something smoother, more fluid. This is probably hard to do so Im not getting my hopes up
dude.....i am
improving ufc
the new thing i would like in the new game is more caf e.g. more hair styles and create your own shorts,,,
if you are online and when you win a match some people just turn it off so you’re not awarded with the points so if that happens the ufc should calculate how much damage was done and provide the points that should be deserved,
should have entrances with fireworks and lightning provided and possibly a team walking down to the octagon with the fighter,
front cover possibly the octogon ring with the ufc belt
up load songs from the itunes for the entrance
career should allow you to use both ufc and caf fighters and should
