UFC Quick Quote: Gilbert Yvel makes mistakes ... just like Tiger Woods
"Stupid mistakes. Let's put it on (mistakes). Everybody makes mistakes in their life.... Like Tiger Woods, he made a mistake but he's a really famous person and everybody looks at them. So it's like blown up and everybody sees it. But if my neighbour will cheat on his wife, nobody will know. So I was in the picture (spotlight) and I did something really stupid... I promise that will never happen again. I'm the nicest guy in the world. How can you not like me?"
-- "Dirty Dutchman" Gilbert Yvel tells the Canadian Press that he's not really that dirty, chalking up his in-ring transgressions to mere mistakes. Yvel gained the reputation after three disqualifications, which included punching (and then kicking) a referee back in 2004 when he disagreed with a restart. He also bit Karimula Barkalaey and eye gouged Don Frye in two separate bouts earlier in his career. Despite his checkered past, "Hurricane" has earned the opportunity to fight on mixed martial arts' biggest stage this weekend, taking on heavy-handed Brazilian Junior dos Santos at UFC 108: "Evans vs. Silva" from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Will Yvel make the most of this opportunity or will more "mistakes" prove to be his downfall against "Cigano"?

R.I.P. Gilbert
Save all that, cause it wont even matter after saturday night when Dos Santos removes your ugly ass donkey kong head.
UR no Tiger Woods
-and MMA is not a street fight, for Godsake’s control yourself bub… I hope Yvel’s head lands in Dana’s lap.
I think you will be right jimmy but you can't count out Yvel who has a solid stand up and KO power to go with it.
This will be the best striker Santos has faced but I agree Santos will win in a exciting fight. This fight I’m almost looking forward to more than the main card.
Santos grnd game
I don’t see Santos taking it to the ground…if he does he earns a ‘W’ by Gnp or Submission.
Not another Tiger Woods thread...
It’s 2010 and I still can’t get away from Tiger Woods news.
Gilbert seems to have calmed down a lot, he was very classy in victory over Rizzo (not his fault that the ref was a moron) and it’s rare that someone hushes the crowd whilst his opponent gets treated after a fight. He’s not the same lunatic who attacked refs. I’m looking forward to seeing him fight though I don’t like his chances against JDS.
"Anderson Silva is the best fighter on the planet...any Anderson Silva fight that is on, people should be buying that PPV, not because he’s my fighter but you know what, he to me is like the Muhammad Ali of MMA...the UFC has been around since 1993, nobody (else) has 10 consecutive wins in the UFC. Anderson has had 10 fights in the UFC, only 1 has ever gone to a decision."

He acted like a dick mate
Completely classless thing to do. I respect his talent and his submissions are fun to watch but what he did after the fight was the worst thing that you can do and I can’t call myself a fan of his after that.

You were 100% right about Goodridge and Fujita too in fairness to ya...
Although the outcomes were inevitable, I expected some sort of fight from either guy!! Total joke it was!!
I"m no Ned Flanders punk!!
I couldn't believe what i was watching to be honest..
And people try comparing it to Broc’s post fight Antics???? HA! No where near imo. This was as bad as it gets as far as bad sports-man-ship imo!
I"m no Ned Flanders punk!!
Agreed
Brock acted like a lunatic but it was funny, yelling about Bud Light is hardly comparable with boasting about injuring your opponent. Aoki doing a Cantwell was a terrible moment for MMA.

even if Aoki dressing like a ballerina he's a proud Japanese fighter and the other dude asked for it with his trash talking.
The bad blood between fighters over there is not the same BS that we’re used to see over here. Fighters don’t go kissing each other after a fight if they they had bad blood before the fight.
Keep in mind that a lots of adrenaline flows during a fight and I was happy to see him broke the arm of the other dude who kept talking shit for weeks prior the fight. The middle finger was a bit excessive but it was well deserved IMO. I probably would have done worse than that. Same goes for that damn ass hole ref that Bert KO’d.
Alpha male....
Where is your christmas spirit…..lol. In my opinion it was going to far. For me personally it would take alot more than smack talk for me to brake someones limb like that. It’s different going out there with the idea of shutting someone up by KO or even SUB in this case, but intentionally doing something like this and then flipping him off as he lays on the mat with his arm seriously injured is just not called for. Very bad for the sport too imo.
In all fairness to Overeem, he showed remorse and respect for Fujita by staying by his side and paying no attention to the trophy, not that Overeem did anything wrong that is but he acted the way all fighters should do imo when they fuck up there opponent, at the end of the day, it’s how these guys clothed themselves and provide for there families and so on, so why intentionally cause lasting damage to another fighter unless he fucked your wife or something along those lines at least anyway.

You tap or you get broken!!
Thats why guys tap, its the other guys fault, his pride costed him lasting damage, who knows he might have even ended his own career by not tapping. Listen to Frank Mir talk, every single fight he is in he says he will break someones arm or leg or whatever. Its quite a well known fact that if you dont tap something is going to snap, thats why we submitt and call it a submission victory. Its the same as someone choking you out, if you dont tap your going to sleep. If the guy would not have talked so much shit leading up to the fight perhaps his pride would have allowed him to tap. People just love to hate Aoki.
Everything you said is obvious HeelHook and goes without saying but..
What happened here was un-called for. I’m not hating on Aoki’s skills as a fighter, it’s the way he carried on is what lets him down.

ALPHA JUST LOVES AOKI.. but hes right about that.
fuck him.. this is bout gilbert ivel. and he will beat jds by KO in the first round, prolly the first exchange!!! he has the best knockout to win ratio ever. thats gotta mean something here
Just like Tiger eh!!! LMAO
First of all girls would have to like you lol!!!!!
JDS will end this fight!!!!!!
LOL he's just using a man that many know to make his point.
He’s no Tiger Woods yeah but Tigers a man just like him that makes mistakes is the point he’s trying to get across and by the sounds of it Yvel has learned from his mistakes as he probally realizes if makes anymore he would lose thousands and thousands of dollars …compared to the millions and millions that Tiger is losing.
