geezus..
that is nasty..and disrespectful..like he didn’t feel it break..ugh!! sure the guy is pumped to win..but that is way over the top..
I'm not privy to the pre-fight history between these two but...
Did Hirota bone Aoki’s mom or something? Damn. That was really uncalled for.
The one and only Smitty...
Mat Hamill should have done that to Mark Munoz when he was K'dTFO!!!!
Just kidding

aoki being his usual classy self
Hes got great subs but he does dumb shit like that allthe time. I cant wait till he gets his ass beat by an american
Seriously.
I cant wait till he comes to the states, loses those gay ass tights, and gets his face beat in by BJ.
he's going to strikeforce
so he doesn’t have to face BJ! But you’re right, most Japanese “superstars” come here and are average!
The Japanese don’t cut weight like Americans do. So when a Japanese guy in the LW class actually weighs 155, he’ll be fighting someone who outweighs him by 10%.
Brock currently is the best. I will not deny that. -- Daniel Worby
So...
all that means is that we would have Miguel Torres or Brian Bowles…. maybe even Benevitez beat the hell out him.
UFC
I still think he is borderline top 5 in the UFC
by PHISH NATION on Dec 31, 2009 10:07 PM EST up reply actions
IN the UFC that could be true.
But give him guys outside of it and’ he’s gonna be in big trouble.
Hirota is a nobody in North America anyway, so feed Aoki guys like Torres or even the bigger lightweights like BJ or someone well versed on the ground like say someone like Nick Diaz, and I’m sure he would not manhandle those men like he did to Hirota here…

The Japanese need to learn how to weight cut
Like it or not it’s a huge part of the sport and most of the top stars from Japan come in far too small against the top Western fighters. Until Eastern fighters change their attitudes towards their weight top fighters like Sexyama, Aoki and Chonan will struggle to beat the best opposition from the West simply because they’re outmuscled. It’s really frustrating watching these top fighters compete against much bigger fighters, if you don’t cut weight properly then you’re never going to be the best in your division, unless you’re a freak like Fedor who can smash the bigger guys.
As for Aoki he showed why this fight was a complete waste of time and why he’s an arrogant dick. He’s great to watch compete but like BJ ruins it for himself by saying or doing stupid shit. Yelling at fighters after you’ve broken their arm is the least sporting thing that you can do and sets the sport way back, this sort of thing should be punished severely. Hopefully Aoki-Kawajiri can actually happen next now that they both beat their Sengoku opponents after Gilbert gets his shot at smashing Aoki in SF. War El Nino.

Anderson has had 10 fights in the UFC, only 1 has ever gone to a decision."

true
i think okami is probably the only japanese fighter in the US who doesn’t look undersized.
Agreed
Okami is a big MW, the others look tiny. Sexyama almost lost to Belcher purely because he was half his size, that’s why I was so worried for him when he was supposed to face Wandi. He should be at WW in my opinion.

ha i remember watching the belcher fight
thinking that sexyama just looked tiny in comparison. he’s def a 170er. japanese fighters should just go train in the US for a few months or so and learn how to cut weight (and wrestle).

You must understand that guys like you are literally “bigger-boned” than most Asians. That’s just how evolution is…

Aoki couldn't do this against anyone over here.
Keep dressing up like a girl for the magazines, Shinya.

Funniest ending ever
it’s fucked up he got his arm broke but giving the guy the finger like that after breaking his arm was just priceless LOL
Love Aoki but WTF... come oooooon, dude! Whats wrong with you?
That looks like policebrutality or something lol

This is why this sport gets no respect.
Shit like this is gross.
Aoki never wanted this fight.
Aoki was pissed he had to take this fight in the first place. He thought Hirota wasn’t even in his league… guess he was right.
Hirota should have tapped when he had the chance, once it rolled over it was already to late.
Still very classless, up there with Brock, but I still think Brock’s was worst because his comments on the mic were also disrespectfull.
Seriously!
Regardless of what was said backstage (comments on the mic re: a sponsor and talking about going home to his wife), whether Aoki felt this fight was beneath him or not, Brocks actions where nowhere near as bad as this(the ridiculous part is Frank Mir still is running his mouth after two complete beat downs). I realize this is the business, he could have tapped, but he broke his arm, do you really need to carry on with middle fingers and airplane celebrations. That is hands down one of, if not the most disgusting displays of shitty sportsmanship I have ever seen. This is why the sport still lacks respect from the general population.
I really hope Dana ante’s up and sign this guy. I have wanted nothing more then Aoki to loose the hot pants and catch a major beatdown from BJ Penn. Sakurai with his defense exposed him 2 times and I think that is what the wrestlers in the UFC will do. That crab walk won’t work with the size of the cage.
Agreed that this in no way compares to Brock, this is ten times worse imo...
Aoki will never have my respect no matter who, where or when he fights again. Little scum-bag!!
I"m no Ned Flanders punk!!
Naw
That’s a waste of B.J.‘s time. I don’t care what record Aoki has, like so many from Japan it protected because he always fights nobodies and guys that have as many L’s as W’s.
Give him to Gray Maynard, Sean Sherk or Frankie Edgar and let him earn his way to BJ. I’ll put a ton of money on whoever fights him because he wouldn’t stand a chance.
umm didn't mach sakurai punch his lights out?
and joachim is 1-1 against him
yes, he has faced some good guys
i’m just saying when he has faced talent (not even elite talent), he’s nowhere near as dominant
he tapped out hansen & alvarez in the 1st round
wen hansen ko’d aoki in the 2nd fight he came in fresh as an alternate in the tourny. aoki just had a 15 minute fight. I really want to see that rematch! He moved up 2 170 lbs, to get KTFO by sakurai
i don't want to see a joachim rematch
b/c i think aoki would probably sub him again lol.
Hold up! Dont get it twisted! Aoki is an Elite LW who has beaten some dudes that would eat through the UFC LW division (minus BJ)
You must have not seen how easily he disposed of my man alvarez, who might I add would thrash the entire UFC LW division with the exception of BJ and maybe Diego!
Hellboy would thrash a top LW striker like Florian.
aoki got Ko’-ed by Mach but that is at welterweight where he has no business fighting at, and it came from knees on the ground which arent legal in the USA!
I would bet aoki could twist maynard in a pretzel
i watched him put alvarez away with ease
but alvarez is not a top fighter (yet). i think he’s got huge upside and will be great in the future, but he’s a wrestler with boxing skills, which is basically what the entire UFC LW division is made up of. i’m not convinced alvarez would get past everyone except bj and diego.
i think aoki is an A fighter but would be nowhere near as dominant in the US as he is in Japan
Thank you john. wanwagon is smoking some good stuff... Aoki as beaten some of the best LW's and he would kill Melendez or Thomson.
lol differing opinions i guess
to say he would kill melendez is much more of a stretch that what i’m saying. how many high level wrestlers with good sub and takedown defense has aoki beaten?
aoki’s best wins are probably over hansen, alvarez, and GZ. all are very good fighters, but beating those guys doesn’t prove to me he’d tear thru the US. don’t get me wrong i think he’d be successful, but he wouldn’t be a monster.
Aoki stick on you like glue and he always find a way to bring his opponents on the ground in no time...what ever their background in wrestling or not.
well hopefully we'll see him over here soon and find out!
will make for some great matches
I think Aoki is about as good, and dangerous as Maia
Nate Marquardt showed exaclty what would happen to Aoki in the UFC
man you really are a Aoki nuthugger... lol. just kidding alpha, i would really like to see him face some strong american wrestlers though, i think he would for sure wrap up a few bigger names in the ufc, but there are quite a few in the ufc
… that would fuck him up, bj penn would make him look like a d level fighter tho.
The only guys that IMO could give him problems are BJ and Kenflo...not so sure about Diego.
All the rest in both org got nothing to offer!
aoki and maynard
I have to disagree john,
I don’t think aoki would ever come close to taking the bully down or even bringing the fight to the ground. Maybe a flying move or something but I think gray is much to strong for him. But I do think he can do well in any org
by Phenomenal Angel on Dec 31, 2009 5:03 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
The bully hump is opponents.
Aoki would put on him a rubber guard follow of an gogoplata or an omoplata cruising is way to another finish sub after that. The bully only chance in that fight would be to try to keep it standing and his stand up is as good than Aoki, lol No chance that he win that he win that one.
bj penn is unstopable at 155 but just because they dont have big names doesnt mean crap ufc makes there fighters seem amazing even thought they arent diego they made sound like he was going to smash bj but bj made him look so bad because bj is that much better so its hard to say how good someone is just because they fight pepole you dont know
exactly why I want him to fight BJ!
I want him to fight BJ, because I know BJ would put a whooping on his ass….no doubt about it.
what a POS
classless. come on man act like you’ve been there before.
Man that was sick
Rough lookin, that was a nasty break. Does anyone know if Hirota said anything leading up to this fight that really pissed Shinya off? Not that that would justify what he did, just wondering
as rock hard said
Aoki really didnt want this fight he was preparing to face off against the No 1 contender in dream, then with all the dream vs src they changed his opponent with about a weeks notice and they had some verbal back and fourth at the press conference etc etc
Im not 100% in this but i think the middle finger gesture in japan has a totally diff meaning than over here, now i could be wrong, or it could be a completely diff gesture im thinking of, it just seems very outta character for Aoki..
But what a statement to make… imagine if he broke BJ’s arm then flipped him off… man i would laff my ass off
Every night i would pray to God for a new bike, then i realized God does not work that way, so i stole one and asked him to forgive me
Aoki would die!
Aoki vs Penn wouldn’t even be competitive imo. Aoki’s strength is his ground, which also actually happens to be BJ’s strength, some times it’s overlooked because BJ’s standup is so vicious and technical! Contrast that with Aoki’s poor standup.
BJ Penn would destroy Aoki and i would actually enjoy seeing that.
Exactly - sort of like a Penn / GSP rematch
I agree with your post exactly however wherever you have Aoki substitute Penn and where you have Penn put in GSP.
by hairybumcrack on Dec 31, 2009 1:33 PM EST up reply actions
BJ Penn
I don’t think anyone said BJ has poor stand-up. Aoki is the one with the poor stand-up that BJ would exploit for an easy win.
Brock currently is the best. I will not deny that. -- Daniel Worby

I don't know why people think Aoki can take on BJ
Aoki would try to take him down and would be denied with ease! He could not stand with BJ either. Let him go to Strikeforce and get his ass beat!
Easy does it..
Aoki would have serious trouble against many more people over here in the US besides Penn.
Greasy St.Pierre is a cheater.
Agreed. .
Let him get eaten alive by Melendez or Thompson. Then we’ll see about BJ. Better yet, let Melendez or Thompson come over and get eaten’ by Penn. Those guys are pretty full of themselves.
Aoki's standup is horrendous and wouldn't survive in SF or UFC
did anyone see that video of aoki going to thailand to train muay thai? dude was getting tossed around by 15 year olds…pathetic.
im pretty sure thomson said he could beat anyone in the ufc besides penn so idk why you would say they are full of themselves they are pretty much some of the top just because of you ufc nut huggers they make them sound better then they are strike forcce and all the other organ.. doesnt bust them up as bad though they should its like there brain washing you tards
Joe Rogan even knows
Aoki is the only guy at 155 that can five BJ problems
I love it!!
Like the announcer said “this isn’t figure skating” And I’ve been saying this for years! I think more MMA fighters should act crazy. It just makes for better promotion and more exciting fights! If you want to watch volleyball go for it. But don’t complain about fighters acting nuts during or after a match. Even though most of these guys deny it, they’re all trying to take each others heads off (or arms in this case)
Classless
This is the type of person Dana tries to keep out of the UFC (that’s why Jessie what’s his name got booted off TUF) because it’s this behavior that non-fans think of when they think of MMA. It’s going to be hard to keep growing the sport with stuff like this. MMA is such an amazing sport with some of the best athletes in the world and moron’s like this have to be involved.
he's in the UFC b/c he sells tickets like nobody can
still doesn’t mean that non-sportmans like crap is necessary
IMO, it's bad for MMA
but UFC is not MMA. i’m saying that for dana and the ufc, ppv buys > representing MMA.
MMA in Japan is way more mainstream than in US
like when Bobb Sapp debuted back in the day something like 75% of the population on japan tuned in to watch the fight
Every night i would pray to God for a new bike, then i realized God does not work that way, so i stole one and asked him to forgive me
If that's the type of person Dana doesn't want
then why is Tito and lesnar in the ufc
may sound crazy
but i think the best fights for BJ at LW at this point are outside of the UFC. melendez, aoki, even sheilds? awesome
LOL yea mentioning sheilds does sound crazy!!
Dude is pathetic on the feet and has horrible takedowns! Even if he did take him down shields wont be able to hold BJ down or advance positions as easy as GSP did. NO chance in that fight.
I think melendez might put up a better fight thanBJ’s last couple opponents but im not sure the outcome would be much diff.

Aoki gets no love anywere or anytime
so i have no problem with his actions after the fight. Guy should’ve tapped, most of you defend guys smashing unconcious downed opponents so I have a hard time listening to most of you saying he has no respect. Most of you praised Hendo for almost killing Bisping, most of you praised Yvel for almost killing Rizzo, so I think all the comments about Aoki not having respect is more or less people hating him because he is one of the best in the world. Did Mir stop when he broke Sylvia’s arm? Nope the ref stopped it!!! I will chaulk up most of these comments as just a bunch of haters hating!!!!!! let the flaming begin!!!!!!!!!!!
i dont have a problem with the guy's arm getting broken
if you don’t tap, it’s your fault. but to taunt a guy whose laying on the floor with a limb you just broke is a bit much lol.
Dude couldn't tap
His other arm was pinned.
Flame
Hendo pounding someone who talks way to much was the exclamation point. .You didn’t see Hendo flipping him off afterwards. He did his talking in the fight. Big difference.
No, he just dropped a flying elbow on a guy he knew was unconscious. But yeah, flipping him off would probably have been worse.
Brock currently is the best. I will not deny that. -- Daniel Worby
They're all as bad as each other imo
It’s cowardly boasting when you’ve already broken a limb or taking a cheap shot on an unconcious opponent. I don’t like seeing that shit no matter who it is.

I love watching Aoki!!
He is the epitome of what i think an MMA fighter should be, he is not a goon, he doesnt win by luck, he is not interested in getting that one lucky punch in. He puts on an MMA show for the fans. If you are into Martial Arts then you love watching this guy, theres is noway you can be a fan of Martial Arts and not like him. He is one of the only guys keeping the Martial Arts part of MMA these days. hate him if you want, people love to hate the best!!!!!!! all that said I would love to see him fight BJ, Im not sure if Aoki is tough enough or could take the strikes from BJ long enough to sub him.
WOW
Everyone is quick to judge Aoki or Brock’s action but no one knows what was said or done backstage im sure Aoki didnt flip him off for now reason. Either way anyone with a problem should just get off their comp and learn to fight so they can do something about it.
i want this
Sf signs aoki and huerta

Hirota could have verbally tapped. The ref, who knows, could have been hard to tell the angle was bad…..and my Judo coaches always told me some of those Japanese guys are totally willing to let it snap rather than tap first. the fingers are my main issue tho’. it would be interesting to see him with elbows, in a cage, and the 5 min rounds against a tough top position player…….and that’s a good point about Mach and Hansen…he’s 1-1, and 0-1 against them. his losses were striaght Lights Out variety as well.

If Aoki is so good at Submission..
Than tell me WHY he never gets very far in Abu Dhabi. Partly i believe cuz no leg things, and he goes against american’s and brazilians.
what about
Bj, hazellet, fitch, serra, florian, diaz bros, mir, shields, torres, and those are just some some of many fighters, some in top 10 of their class. Then some of their american instructors.
Its growing in america

Real Zach is just talking out of his ass.
Don’t respond to children.
Frank Mir packed 30+ pounds of solid muscle onto his body in five months. Why hasn't anyone called him out for steroid use? Is it because he never wrestled for Vince McMahon? I give Mir credit for his taste in strippers/wives, not his fighting skills or his personality.
They are both very dumb!
The ADCC stand for (Abu Dhabi Combat Club) and Aoki is an ADCC Asian champ. He didn’t go far in the absolute division in 2005 and that was against all the weight classes. He lost to Roger Gracie who’s the best Heavy Weight submission artist on the planet and he fond a way to bring him down on the mat in no time w/o his pants too.
But they are great at wrestling...
which counters BJJ more often then not…BJ Penn, Rob Drysdale, Jeff Monson, Dean Lister, Ricardo Almeida all americans who have done well and consistently do well at major grappling tournaments.
Almeida's half Brazilian
Agreed otherwise though. There are lots of decorated American grapplers, Zack’s talking absolute shite on this thread.
