Fock cung!

I had a lot of money riding on Cung, and he was destroying Smith. He then gets cocky, and starts fighting on cruise control and gets clipped. What an idiot!

Shammy was really hating on Cung last night! How the Fock does Shammy know that Cung slows down in the 4th n 5th rounds? when has cung fought that deep into a fight?

by John G. on Dec 20, 2009 10:20 AM EST reply actions

great fight!!

shammy hates on everyone lol cungs just awesome to watch though his spinning back kicks are the best in the game.if his gnp was better he wouldve stopped smith no doubt.in the shamrock/le fight, even though shammy descided to be an idiot and stand with le,you could see le was starting to get tired and i reckon frank mightve stopped him late even though he was getting tooled earlier on he started to get the better of the striking late on.

by scott1 on Dec 20, 2009 10:43 AM EST up reply actions

ya I hate Frank Shamrock he’s such a tool. he shouts over and over again “his kicks don’t hurt” about Le, then badmouths Jake Shields. This guy needs to learn his place.

And then God said "Let there be light," to which Chuck Norris replied, "say please."

someone should have told him Le broke his arm. If Le fought guys his size his strikes would be more effective, he’s a little small for the weightclass.

by RoBerto. on Dec 20, 2009 11:42 AM EST up reply actions

is it a far east taboo?

i agree what is it with the far east fighters and cutting weight? sexyama/zenko/chonan/le etc they always seem to come in fighting at their natural weight instead of trying to cut.le and sexyama would be beasts at ww.

by scott1 on Dec 20, 2009 11:53 AM EST up reply actions

John how could you bet on this fight!!!

No value except for Smith if the odds were at +450 or more. I expected Le to rip out smith’s guts with body shots but there was always that possiblity of Le gassing and getting hit out. Smith was serving as an excellent showcase for “things that would never work against a serious striker.” But he has way too many hail mary shots on his resume and Le’s chin was questionable against lil shammy’s short flurry and punches.

That sucks man!

Ever since mania changed you, me and a lot of the old gambling regulars don’t post as much anymore so we can’t chop it up about betting advice. I haven’t been able to guage my parlay thoughts against anyone elses. Definitely affecting my bottom line which am not too happy about.

same here NNR!

We definitely need to star picking each others brains again before we place bets!

Lets make an effort to both come on this site the day before an event, so we can talk business!

Shamrock is the worst commentator in the sport, biased idiot

Great win for Scott, he won that fight through grit and determination, you’ve got to respect someone with his heart. I’m a fan for life after that win, watching Dung get KO’d will never get boring. War Smith.

SF, please sack Shamrock, he’s done as a legitimate fighter, doesn’t offer any real analysis, at times refuses to score rounds and bashes your stars.

I knew by THomson's demeanor that he was going to lose that fight!

Gilbert was extremely focused, while THomson was all smiles, looking and acting as though he was just happy to be there! His demeanor reminded me of when Randy fought Nog in Portland….thomson was smiling the whole time, while Gilbert was focused on destroying him!

Gilbert is really coming into his own!

Up next Gilbert vs. Aoki! I cant wait!

After that I really want to see Gilbert vs. Alvarez!

Thomson/Alvarez would be bad ass as well!

by John G. on Dec 20, 2009 10:28 AM EST reply actions

That smiling was annoying as hell.

Gilbert did look focused, but it is easy when your opponet hits like a 10 year old girl.

Didn’t Gilbert say he could give BJ a better fight than any UFC LW? LMAO. He would get owned.

Gilbert is the man

Whilst Josh has been injured, Gilbert has been improving he looks reborn. He’d give any LW a competetive fight (even BJ) and has the wrestling, striking and BJJ to trouble anyone. I hope that the Aoki fight happens soon, it’s been a long time coming for Gilbert to get his crack at Aoki and this will crown the best LW outside of the UFC (hopefully BJ will one day face the winner, in or out of the UFC).

Happy For Scott Smith

Glad to see him find some success outside the Octagon. John McCarthy could have stopped the fight early but recognized that he was blocking a number of those shots. Good Job.

Big John does know his stuff - he know's what Scott is about so he patiently waited.

I must say, although Scott’s style doesn’t bode well for a long career, he has to be one of the most exciting guys to watch in all of MMA. Never say never…. no matter how much of a beating he takes, you can’t leave the room until it’s over.

Props dooood, excellent job.

I totally agree

I have always liked Smith. He is serious business. You just can’t count him out until he is all the way out. Reminds me of Cinderella Man lol

He is top 25.

I don’t give him any credit for most of his wins, because he is never winning.

Frank Mir packed 30+ pounds of solid muscle onto his body in five months. Why hasn't anyone called him out for steroid use? Is it because he never wrestled for Vince McMahon? I give Mir credit for his taste in strippers/wives, not his fighting skills or his personality.

true

but has he looked like he was winning any of his fights? He has heart, that’s about it.

Heart and sick power in his hands

He’s had the occassional quick win but you’ve got to respect someone who can take a beating then KO you if you get tired or sloppy. I’m a fan of the Hands of Steel for life now.

I couldn't agree more.

First off, I’m glad to see Big John back and you’re certainly correct about “Hands of Steel”. Win, Lose, or Draw, he’s going to put on an entertaining fight.

Whatever

You are an idi@!. Cung was humble and gracious after his loss, pure class. His stikes are pure entertainment, so he got caught, still awesome fighter to watch so start watching the fights for what they are. Would you rather watch 2 guys circle for 3 rounds or a fight. Grow up.

I agree that he took the defeat well

Far better than Bitching Benji Radach, how did his BS appeal against the KO defeat to Smith work out?

Cung looked out of shape and Scott smith made him pay for it, I am happy for Smith, I always thought the UFC wankers where wrong to cut him. Strikeforce is the winner tonight, great show.

that fight was awesome...

i am glad to say that i am becoming a fan of the strikforce promotion. they are putting on good fights. that fight has to be the best comeback of the year.

Cung looked absolutely lost when he had Scott on the mat. Unfortunately for Cung Le, guys like Jacare and Hendo are going to send him back to Hollywood for good.

by frizzkills on Dec 20, 2009 1:55 PM EST reply actions

Agreed

Other than flashy kicks (only Shamrock would claim that they don’t have any power) he doesn’t offer anything. His grappling is non existent, his chin, heart and cardio are questionable and without quick and brutal kicks he has nothing. Jacare and Hendo would both smash Dung.

Insane comeback

I was yelling at the TV how fcking bad Smith is, he just walked foward and took blows without throwing anything back, and then in the last round he goes and knocks Le out, hilarious.

by Lester The Pimp on Dec 20, 2009 3:41 PM EST reply actions

can someone get an award for most comebacks?

I thought le looked good, he tried a bit of ground n pound, some take downs, not super great but he tried, and he did it with ease, maybe smith has less ground and td defense than le.
I loved the ending, classic.

Many of my friends saw sf for first time, and thought that fight was the best ever. So I guess its fights like that, that catch fans.

by Phenomenal Angel on Dec 20, 2009 7:35 PM EST via mobile reply actions

what next

How long before Karo joins SF and fights Diaz again? The first fight was one of the best fights ever. Le should stay in MMA, but he probably won’t. He’d be a beast at WW but Diaz could beat him. I can’t image Le or Jake beating Hendo, Anderson, vitor, Nate or any top 5 guy from UFC. Let Hendo smash Jake and after that the next guy to get 2 wins in a row fights Dan. Who does SF have? They only have like 7 fighters total for 170 and 185 combined. Please pick up KARO!
