Marcus Jones vs Matt Mitrione Ultimate Fighter 10 bout announced for Dec. 5
Payback is a bitch.
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneer defensive end, Marcus Jones, will indeed pursue his mixed martial arts career when he takes on former Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle, Matt Mitrione, at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 10 Finale this Saturday (Dec. 5) live from "The Pearl" at the Palms Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Jones and Mitrione went nose-to-nose in second-to-last episode of the season when "Darkness" learned that an errant (and accidental) Mitrione eye poke jeopardized the fight future of friend and fellow castmate, Scott Junk. No punches were thrown; however, Jones vividly explained the bodily harm that he wanted to inflict on "Meathead."
It was revealed shortly thereafter that Junk would make a full recovery; however, matchmakers/producers apparently hope to capitalize on the heat that may or may not still exist between the fighters after their heated exchange.
Jones was actually one fight away from facing Roy Nelson on Saturday night after handily defeating Mike Wessell and Darrill Schoonover. Unfortunately, Brendan Schaub didn't get the memo, finishing "Big Baby" via strikes in the final episode.
It's one fight closer than Mitrione got. The hypochondriac bested Scott Junk on Episode 7, but got choked out by James McSweeney in the quarterfinals just last night.
He could easily erase those bad memories with a big win over Jones.
TUF 10 Finale will feature a showdown between the top two finalists from the Spike TV reality show, Roy Nelson and Brendan Schaub, as well as a light heavyweight war featuring Jon "Bones" Jones as he inches his way closer to contention against Matt "The Hammer" Hamill.
Remember that MMAmania.com will provide LIVE blow-by-blow, round-by-round coverage of the TUF 10 Finale, beginning with the Spike TV telecast at 9 p.m. ET. In addition, we will deliver up-to-the-minute quick results of all the under card action on fight night.

If..
If Marcus doesn’t go stiff again after some big shots and takes this to the ground he should have this fight.
Love Marcus
Hated to c him go down like that, but he needs to train his boxing and striking at least a year. He just flails his arms in the exchanges. That is really dangerous and he will get hurt.

Marcus is getting KTFO
No way in hell he wins this fight.
Mitrione will tag him early and often.

I don't know
If he loses his Frankenstein approach and actually develops some serviceable hands he’s got a good shot I think. He makes his takedowns look easy, and I believe if he mounted Schaub again he wouldn’t let him up. This will actually be a good fight in my opinion so long as Jones doesn’t come out with his Frankenstein stance again.

Marcus needs to improve his conditioning more than anything...
His mouth was open when he took that shot, with improved striking defence wich is one thing I’m sure he will be working on Marcus’s ground game looks pretty good for only training full time for two years if he can improve his stamina with strength and size he has a good shot in this fight. Remember they have several months of trainig after this show really ended.
All the years playin defense in the NFL can do a number on your head and body. He may be too easy to knockout now. And nobody likes to see that including Rampage who said he would have cried haha. but I think Marcus will still take this because Mittrione is soft. He tapped so easily in the last fight so what do you think will happen when Marcus tackles him down?
yea he exhausted himslef with the TD, passing, and maintaining position.
probably got a little too excited too and just got drained
dude.....i am
I don't like his chances
Don’t get me wrong….I think he’s a good guy (when he isn’t acting like an idiot). But Mitrione is way more well rounded than Marcus. The only way Marcus wins this fight is by taking Mitrione to the ground and somehow finishing the fight….that’s a tall task for a guy with not much experience.
Not such a tall task is Mitrione connecting with a solid punch.
Mitrione by KO…..early.

How is Mitrione well rounded? He has shown no ground skills, the guy is a gutless coward who gave up as soon as McSweeney got him in a guillotine, he was tapping before it was locked in properly, and he spent the whole series ducking dangerous fights.
Marcus has horrible striking and I can’t believe Rampage didn’t teach him any boxing skills, once again he spent too long doing goofy pranks with Tiki and moaning about Rashad to coach. That being said he’ll be able to get Matt down quickly and it’s a foregone conclusion once the fight hits the ground, Mitrione is no Schaub and will give up as soon as he ends up on his back.
Going by jones last couple fights if Mitrione is put on his back and can survive for around three ...
minutes he will have a good chance, unless Jones has improved his endurance dramatically.
Matt (Pitiful) Pitrione....?? Are u kidding me???
Matt doesn’t even deserve to be a spit-bucket b*tch in the UFC. Forget the vacation to France or Napa Valley… you could see more “whining” just watch Matt’s clips in Ultimate Fighter this season. First he starts friction with his own teammate, then he betrayes coach Rashad by leaking the fight plans because he was scared to fight his (or any) opponent, then he milked his b.s. shoulder both before and after his meager win. Then, when you’d think he’d have a bit of confidence… he continues to use his “brain swelling” as an in & out excuse regarding his next fight. If his brain ‘swoll up’ like he said… I’d pop it like the pimple it’d represent. Please… he annoyed me all season week by week. Having to watch every episode in a row and seeing his cowardice hour after hour… it’s just too much to take. Do yourself a favor and take down your .com…. I’m sure you’re glad to be home. Stay there… don’t Tweet… and just click your heels together in the hopes that this was all a bad dream.
