Keith Jardine vs Ryan Bader likely for UFC 110 in Australia on Feb. 21

Jardine_bader_medium

Light heavyweights and Ultimate Fighter (TUF) grads Keith Jardine (15-6-1) and Ryan Bader (10-0) will likely hook 'em up in an interesting 205-pound showdown scheduled for UFC 110 from the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia, on Feb. 21, 2010.

Both fighters "Tweeted" that they had received their bout agreements; however, the promotion made no official announcement regarding the match up at this time. Expect that to change in the coming days and/or weeks.

Jardine has had an on again-off again relationship with success in the light heavyweight division. Despite wins over former champions Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin, he's also taken a dive against Wanderlei Silva and Quinton Jackson.

Consistency, or lack thereof, has been his major downfall -- though that' could be changing (and not for the better). "The Dean of Mean" dropped two straight for the first time in his career when Thiago Silva laid him out at UFC 102 back in August.

He'll need to right the ship against Bader or say goodbye to his 205-pound title aspirations.

Star-divide

"Darth" has been perfect inside the cage, including three straight under the Zuffa banner since winning it all at the TUF 8 Finale last December. The only knock on Bader's performance thus far has been his ability to finish fights. After a technical knockout over Vinny Magalhaes, he decisioned Carmelo Marrero and Eric Schafer with his suffocating wrestling.

Finishing Jardine would boost his stock tremendously.

UFC 110 is expected to feature a heavyweight showdown between Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira and Cain Velasquez to determine the next number one division contender. In addition, a 185-pound brawl between Michael Bisping and Wanderlei Silva in a bout that may have future title implications is also expected to fill out the top of the card.

My money's on Bader

out of the ufc???

hummm, im thinking jardine will still be around, win or lose~

jardine always puts on a show.. he is definitely not the type of fighter to coast a win, he always fights..

jardine is that type of fighter that could lose 3 straight and still resign come contract negotiations..

i doubt highly that jardine loses, let alone gets cut..

jardine via early 3rd tko..

yeah with a resume like Jardine’s losses are going to come. the only 2 guys in the top of the LHW divisoin that he hasnt fought are Machida and Shogun.

I think Jardine will come into this fight determined, but also reserved. Back to heavy leg and body kicks. I would think Jardine wins, but I’m always wrong, so looks like Bader will win.

Jardine split decision here.

Bader has only one punch and it’s the same 1-2 jab-overright hand over and over and over. U want to KO Jardine, a simple left hook and minor gnp has done the trick most of his career. Bader will just get picked apart standing and on the ground Jardine is pretty good at getting up using half and butterflies. It’s gonna be an ugly fight.

dayum

Im pretty pumped for this fight

Jardine better stuff his leg kicks in a sack, because as soon as he throws one he’ll get taken down and humped.

farth bader

I dont know why everyone hates bader………he does major damage from peoples guard and has sum awesome passes….and he has good juijits for a wrestler….and he’s got good stand up that he shows against jits guys

by GOLDIGGAH on Dec 2, 2009 4:32 PM EST up reply actions

agreed

I dont get the hate on Bader either. the Caramel Marello fight he was very aggressive with his submissions grappling in the 1st round. he just seemed to gas after that. the same deal with Red Schafer. he was looking good, almost had Red out and finished a few times, and just gassed a bit.

As much as I like Bader, i dont think he will win, but I can definitely see a 1st round KO for him.

wow.

i dont care about this fight what so ever! i mean, they’re both good fighters…but it just say lame all over it. either jardine with a ko or win by leg kick decision or bader by lay and pray. blah..id rather see jardine and tito or something.

its just so predictable

and it doesnt help that they arent interesting fighters. to me anyway..i like fighters with style. not flailing fists that just happen to have ko power.. looks like he’s trying to play a marching band bass drum when he throws “hooks”.

Jardine needs to win this won badly. Good luck to him

I think we'll see Jardine bounce back here

With a dominant performance.

Im rooting for the guy anyway.

c'mon Jardine

I truly hope he wins. I have always liked Keith. Win or lose. I can see bader pulling this off via wrestling, but Bader showed he doesn’t mind standing up last fight.

Keith’s a good guy so ill be pulling for him.

by daniel worby on Dec 2, 2009 7:51 AM EST via mobile reply actions

Uh-Oh

Looks like Keith has finally cemented homself as the Gatekeeper

dude.....i am

by brendog on Dec 2, 2009 9:05 AM EST reply actions

Someone’s gotta be the gatekeeper – can’t see them dropping him though because of his camp and the pull GSP, Rashad, Nate, etc have

by DJF on Dec 2, 2009 9:16 AM EST up reply actions

Agreed, Jardine is officially the LHW gatekeeper

If you can’t get past Jardine, you aren’t a contender in the LHW division.

Big fight for Bader, nice to see him stepping up once again. He still has a lot to work on and Jardine has much better striking technique offense wise but with his suspect chin and strange style there’s always the chance of Keith getting KO’d quickly by a heavy puncher like Bader. Would be interesting to see what Keith could do off his back if he gets taken down by a quality wrestler like Bader as well.

I’m so jealous of this Australia card, it looks sick on paper. War Big Nog and Wandi!

I'm kinda sad about this fight

B/c I’m worried keith isgoing to knock out again, and frankly, I don’t know how many more KOs he can take before he ends up with severe brain damage. I’d definitely give Bader the edge on this one, in the striking and wrestling.

Cro Cop hardly gets a mention???

Weird how more people aren’t looking forward to seeing him fight, not much talk about him lately eventhough he featuring on the Australia card. He’s as big a name as any of these guys imo. I know he hasn’t been up to scratch lately but come on, still one of my favourites no matter what. I know Jardines the topic, just throwing it out there!! War Cro Cop!!!

bader definitely wins this one, no way keith is stopping the takedowns.
